Chapter 3 - Blood Summoner

Blood Summon Possible.

The moment the words formed, a strange formation, began to form underneath it.

Alex somehow instinctively understood the formation. "A spell!"

Just then, the system chimed in.

[Requirements to initiate process: Host Blood]

Around him, the battle continued to rage. But something had changed. The sight of the Prince still alive had reignited their once–dying morale.

Glancing at the corpses, Alex noticed red wisps drifting towards him as if calling out to him.

"Alright, I need to do something." Trusting the system, he bit his finger and began drawing the formation on the forehead of a fallen enemy.

With the formation fully drawn, the runes lit up and sank into the corpse. At the same time, red mist rose and coalesced into a figure.

[Congratulations on forming your first summon—Blood Wraith!]

Ding!

[20x multiplier activated!]

[Blood Wraith upgraded to Blood Knight!]

[Rank: Warrior] [level 3]

"Cool!" Alex muttered in amazement. Quickly heading to the next, he repeated the same process.

[Blood Summon successful!]

[Blood Wraith]

[Rank: Minion] [Level 1]

His eyes soon landed on the first human he killed.

Quickly rushing towards him, he drew the formation on his head, but then, since when was luck a buddy of his?

[Blood summoning failed!]

As soon as the notification appeared before him, the body dissolved into a red mist and dispersed across the area.

Oh well. Two was still a good start.

Examining them closely, he noticed the blood knight was fully clad in a crimson armour. Even its weapon was made of the condensed red substance. The blood wraith appeared wispy with deadly red claws.

"Alright, let's see what you can do!"

Observing the battlefield, Alex had enough time to count the warriors present both those on the enemy side and his men.

Twenty-two men remained on the enemy side, while only thirteen of his side still fought. Including him and his summons, they now had sixteen.

"Seems I woke up at the right time… towards the end of the battle. Great."

"C'mon! Keep fighting! Protect the Prince!"

Joining the fray, Alex's eyes were partly on the blood summons. "Hmm... So they can reform if destroyed. Nice."

The Blood Knight was successful in its attack, killing one of the green men with ease. While the Wraith had his neck cut off. His opponent thought he had defeated it, letting his guard down.

The head of the blood summon grew back and then, with a series of relentless attacks, killed his opponent.

The Blood knight fought with precision while that of the Wraith was wild and crude.

Alex, himself handled his opponent with ease, thoughts swirling in his mind. He wasn't so sure what was enabling his Blood Summons to reform.

Around him, his men stared in shock. "What entered the young prince? Was he this good?:

"Had he been hiding his strength all along?"

"Be careful! The Prince is a damn mage!" One of the enemies warned his men as they regrouped surrounding Alex and his men.

Now, down to eighteen, the fight was slightly evened.

"Cover me!" Alex ordered as he quickly got to work. Wiping his face with a bit of blood smearing his cheek, he let out a soft breath as he stared at his creations.

[Blood Summon successful…!]

Now the battle was evened.

Alex felt his body weaken after summoning the Blood Wraiths. The battle raged fiercely, and finally, after long dreary minutes, the battle was finally over.

Their enemies were defeated with just seven casualties on their side.

[Congratulations! Quest completed!]

[Rewards processing...]

Alex dismissed the screen as he glanced at his men. Sadly, they had to die. They had seen too much. His power had to remain a secret.

Alex watched as his men celebrated. With only six left, it wasn't going to be a hard job for him.

"No need to be worried, I've got my loyal summons with me." First, he rested and regained his energy while he thought on how to begin. At that moment, he created more blood summons, bringing the total to twelve.

His head throbbed with a slight feeling of light-headedness. "It got to be now." Instantly, he sprang into action. His summons followed his orders and struck without warning.

"They were supposed to die after all," he muttered.

Four were killed at once from the surprise attack. The Blood Knight was unstoppable as he took down on his own.

Alex watched from the sidelines as the humans fought against his summons, their eyes clouded with confusion and fatigue.

"Dammit! Why are they attacking us? I thought they were on our side!"

Tsk. "I'm sorry. This must be done," Alex muttered, leaning on his sword.

It didn't take long for the little scuttle to be over. Alex crouched before their body as he prepared himself for the 'Ritual' as he tagged it.

Few minutes later, he struggled to his feet.

He felt his vision blurred as his head banged madly. He had managed to increase his summons to twenty.

Just one last one... he muttered.

Ding!

[Blood summoning failed!]

[Host has reached the maximum number of blood summons for his current level]

[Blood Summon: 20/20]

[Upgrade Blood Core to increase capacity]

"Damn…"

Staring at the battlefield, he couldn't help but let out a sigh. His stomach grumbled as he observed the quiet field.

Settling on the ground, he could finally think now. He began to weigh the pros and cons.

He had transmigrated into the world of Legends & dynasties, a novel he knew too well. He didn't mind though.

After all, his previous world was already a bore to him. This gave him a chance for real adventure!

The cons. He had transmigrated into Alexander Ivan Rodnerick. A background character destined to die just to set up the major plot for the main character and the antagonists.

He probably died in the battle, but it seemed he had taken over the body. "This is bad. Why not any of these random soldiers?"

With his fragmented knowledge about the novel, he was aware of the setup that had led to the Prince's death. And him being alive would spell a lot of trouble and was going to have a great impact in the plot line.

But he didn't care. He didn't want to die. He wanted to live to the fullest here.

Dammit!

"I'm not going to end up as an extra! I'll forge my own path!"

And in order to do that, he would need to grow stronger and make good use of his advantage over the rest of the inhabitants of this world.

But the system. The system was still a variable.

No time to think about that now. First, he needed to find a way back to the camp.

But, the system had other thoughts for him.

[As the holder of the Domination system, the host is destined for greatness!]

[Main Quest Received: Build An Empire!]
