Chapter 3 - What gift are you delivering

Grant glanced casually and kicked his leg over, seemingly unconcerned about the danger.

"Crack!"

The sound of a bone breaking echoed throughout the room.

"Ah! My leg, my leg!" The leader of the gang fell to his knees, clutching his leg in agony and rolling around, his cries echoing through the room.

Grant took a step forward with his left foot and threw a punch, colliding with another gang member's fist in mid-air.

"Bang!"

The bone-chilling sound of bones shattering rang out again, and the gang member was thrown into the wall, his body almost folding in half, his head hanging limply, his life hanging in the balance.

In an instant, two of the gang members were taken out, and the other gang members looked on in shock.

What's going on?

Didn't they say that Morgan Family's son-in-law was a useless waste? How could he be so powerful?

"You bunch of useless trash, what use are you to me? Come on, attack!" Walter pointed at Grant and roared, his voice hoarse.

However, the gang members were afraid. Didn't they see the two who attacked before being taken out? How could they dare to attack Grant now?

"Are there any more thugs? Come out!" Grant glanced at Walter and approached slowly.

Walter was frightened and kept backing away. He pointed at Grant, his voice trembling:

"You... Grant, you ignorant fool, do you know what the consequences of offending me will be? Do you believe that I will stop all building supplies from now on?"

"If the company goes bankrupt, Daisy will have no good ending in the James Family!" Walter shouted.

"Get out of here!" he continued.

Grant stopped in front of him, his gaze icy.

At that moment, he felt as if he had fallen into an abyss, with endless darkness engulfing him from all sides.

Walter shuddered and his shouting stopped abruptly.

"If there's a next time, I'll take your life," Grant said, before leaving the room with Daisy.

Walter remained curled up in the corner, his face turning from blue to purple. He dared not speak, only glaring at Grant's back with hatred in his eyes.

Cora had been waiting at the door and when she saw Daisy come out of the room, she immediately went up to her. She was about to say something when she saw Daisy shake her head, indicating that everything had been resolved. The two of them drove home in silence.

As soon as they pushed open the door, Lydia, Daisy's mother-in-law, saw Grant and Daisy enter. She glanced at the slight swelling on Daisy's arm and surprisingly didn't get angry. "Daisy, come over here," she said.

"What's wrong, Mom?" Daisy walked over, looking puzzled.

"Grant, you sit down!" Grant frowned slightly, feeling that the atmosphere was a bit strange.

However, he didn't say anything and sat down on the chair obediently.

"Just now, Mom checked again and it's true that there are less than sixty days left until your father's will is executed," Lydia spoke up. "But it might be a bit difficult and hasty for both of you to find new partners right after the divorce."

"So, Daisy, I've found a suitable candidate for you. He will be returning to the country next week, and I can arrange for you two to meet and get to know each other before discussing anything else."

"I disagree!" Grant suddenly spoke up in a cold tone, not because he was jealous, but because he cared about his dignity. He knew that even after three years of marriage, there was no love between him and Daisy, so he felt relieved about the divorce in two months. However, he couldn't bear the thought of Daisy being with someone else before the divorce, as it would be a blow to his pride.

"Useless! Did I ask for your opinion?" Lydia scolded Grant in anger. "I'm just informing you, you have no say in this!" Grant clenched his fists, and although he was used to being insulted by his mother-in-law Lydia, he couldn't let this issue go.

Just as Grant was about to speak up again, Daisy suddenly stood up and walked to Lydia, saying, "Mom, I can't agree to this! If I do, I'll be no different from those women outside!"

"What's wrong with that? You're getting a divorce anyway, it's perfectly normal to start dating someone else," Lydia replied, clearly not expecting such a strong reaction from Daisy.

"Do you want to spend the rest of your life with this loser? Being ridiculed and looked down upon all the time?" Lydia continued.

"Yes, I admit that I look down on him, but even if I'm not going to spend the rest of my life with him, I won't do this before the divorce!" Daisy replied firmly, remembering how Grant had stood in front of her at the Emperor Club, feeling a little bitter.

Since he was brought home by his father, he had been working hard and never fought back or talked back. After such a long time, he had developed some feelings even for a dog, let alone today, if it weren't for Grant, she would have been really taken advantage of by Walter.

"I won't agree to this."

"You! You're going against me!"

Grant sighed on the seat. Until now, he realized that this woman didn't just dislike him. At this moment, she was willing to speak up for him. Even if it was just sympathy.

"If you're tired and need help, just let me know."

Grant whispered and turned back to the room.

"What?" Daisy didn't hear clearly.

"You coward, you're leaving before I finish? Get back here!"

...

After the lesson from Grant, Walter really didn't dare to mess around, and things in Daisy's company stabilized.

On this evening, Grant was reading in his room.

The door suddenly opened and Daisy, wearing a purple dress, walked in and threw money on Grant's bed. "This is your pocket money for this month."

It was a thick stack of ten thousand yuan. Grant glanced at it and said lightly, "So much?"

"What, you still think it's too much money?" Daisy had originally wanted to thank Grant, but after seeing his indifferent attitude, she inexplicably became angry. "My grandfather just finished treatment and is preparing to be discharged tomorrow. Our family plans to visit him. Remember to buy some decent gifts and clothes. Don't embarrass us when we go."

Daisy slammed the door and left after a bunch of words. "Is this woman crazy?" Grant frowned. Moreover, it was not like Daisy's usual style to take him along. However, since Daisy gave him so much money, Grant would not be vague. He chose his clothes and gifts carefully and went to the top hospital in Jiangnan City with Daisy.

The fifth floor of the hospital had the top equipment, and each ward was close to fifty square meters. At this time, the ward was already crowded with people. When they saw Daisy and Grant come in, they silently turned their heads aside.

"Look, it's that useless son-in-law."

"I really don't know how Daisy could be interested in such a man."

"Lower your voice, don't disturb grandpa."

"... "

The murmurs around were very small, but Lydia felt uncomfortable in her heart. She glared at Grant fiercely, as if to say, if it weren't for you, this useless son-in-law, how could they be looked down upon by others.

Grant lowered his head and walked behind Daisy. He was used to being ignored, and after experiencing the ups and downs of life, he enjoyed this ordinary life.

"Hey, Daisy, you even brought your useless husband. Aren't you afraid of grandpa seeing him and affecting his mood?" Suddenly, an annoying voice came from beside them. Daisy looked up and saw her most hated second brother, Jackson, who bullied her a lot on weekdays, relying on the favor of their grandparents.

"Hello Uncle, Hello Second Uncle." Daisy politely greeted them without looking at them, then walked to the bedside with the gift and said with a smile, "Grandpa, this is the gift I brought, I wish you a speedy recovery."

The person lying on the bed was an old man with white hair and black spots on his face, obviously not in good health. He nodded and said, "Just put it there."

Grant also followed and presented the prepared gift, saying, "Grandpa, I wish you good health."

Jackson was furious when he saw that Daisy ignored him.

"Snap!"

The gift that had just been placed on the table was suddenly knocked down, and the whole room suddenly became extremely quiet.

"Who do you think you are, and what makes you qualified to give my grandpa a gift?"
