Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 : The Vampire

The boy stared at the screen with an attentive glint in his eyes. He could read the words but he somehow understood the prompts accurately.

Once the holographic panel vanished. His abdomen ached fiercely. His teeth elongated into fangs and a jagged maw.

Again he pounced on the corpse of the bird and bit into it. He spat out the feathers and then tore out a part of its meat. The blood now tasted sweet and the flesh produced savoury.

In no time both had devoured the bird leaving nothing but bones and feathers.

Hours passed, the boy sat full, the cub besides him chewing on a bone. The chilling evening wind blew across the landscape leaving him to enjoy the warmness of his fabrics.

Gazing at the distance ahead of him, he saw an ascension of thick smoke clouds. Picking up a stick he commenced on a journey in that direction.

After moments of walking, he found the cub closely trailing by his side. At first he didn't think much of it, he was sure it would leave sooner or later, however it didn't.

He waved his stick at it and it trapped the object within its powerful jaws. The boy pulled for the stick, yet the cub held on stronger.

It let go and ran to his side rubbing it's fur against his uncovered skin, he gazed at it for a long time then let the poor creature be, it was a bit comforting to look at.

Together they traversed the vast land, before arriving at a forest which encircled the plain. Flora and fauna lay in abundance, giving the evening atmosphere of the forest a scenic view.

He wandered around the forest,.and towards the smoke clouds which only grew larger and larger. Falling into two pits of quick sand, he was rescued twice by the cub and his stick.

Night approached rapidly and the cold turned harsher. Howls and shrieks of countless nocturnal creatures joined to form a wild cacophony.

A sense of insecurity crept into the mind of the boy. Luckily he found a little cave which made him feel warm and safe, although a few parts was dripping wet.

The duo shared and devoured a normal python which the cub killed without his notice and presented to him. Succumbing to a tiring sensation, they both slept of.

His body stayed at peace, his mind shut down and his body inactive when disaster struck.

The boy rose and surveyed his environs, the cub was nowhere to be found. Darkness quelled the entire area, making him unable to see a thing.

He walked towards the inner parts of the cave. Nevertheless he found it to be a bit deeper than the entrance area he slept at, feeling on the walls till he found a crevice.

Quickly he squeezed himself in, without the slightest hesitation. Dragging and pulling himself through the tight hole which only got tighter and tighter.

Minutes later he fell into a deeper concealed part of the cave. The ground was as hard as lime stone as that was what it was made from.

He stood only when he headed the protestant growls of his companion. The cave was dimly lit with torches, had stalagmites and stalactites everywhere.

Columns also stood galore making the huge cave hard to run around freely. While he still assessed the situation the cries of bats hurt his ears, drowning the cries of the Jaguar.

" Oh my, What do we have here. A smooth and easy meal, I thought I was only going to feast on that mythical fur ball " a calm harmonic voice said.

Shocked the boy looked around, in search for the owner and soon found him quicker than expected. Jumping backwards, he narrowly escaped the claws of a malevolent hunter.

Although he managed to save most of his neck, he escaped with a faint nick.

Arrayed in a one piece cape which covered, yet hung loosely around the creature's body. As pale as the dead, it hovered slightly above the ground, licking its fingers tauntingly.

" I Navalix, the seven hundredth prince of Lord Vlad, the ruler of the Scendivic Empire. Do declare you blood beneficial for royal consumption. " The vampire announced calmly.

Walking towards the boy with his arms out stretched. This pulled back his cape and revealed a western suit. The vampire took a napkin from his brest pocket and cleaned his lips with it.

" Are you awed by my apparel? Of course you are, it is far beyond this era. More things are to be discovered and invented before something of this splendor. " It said appearing before him.

Navalix swiped at the boy with his rock hard nails, the boy noticed this and jumped backwards. Swipes followed, the boy instinctively dodged them all with ease.

" You're fast " he commented after the ninth failed attempt in harming the boy. They both stopped and gazed at each other, a glint shown on the boy's hand. A blade appeared instantly.

As they faced off, a cold detached voice rang in his skull and a prompt flashed before his retina.

It vanished as quickly as it came. The boy's eyes widened and he was shot into a trance. His blade fell from his grip, " Don't you space out on me " Navalix said flashing towards the boy with a balled fist.

It struck him on the chest and sent him flying. He broke through multiple columns before coming to a stop, he coughed up blood and rose to a sitting position.

A hand grabbed him by the shoulder, it raised him to the air and bashed to the ground. Debris were sent flying and a crater formed.

He got kicked on the ribs before he could recover. He flew meters away, but managed to flip himself to his feet, a fist came but he caught it to the surprise of Navalix.

Navalix swiped at his chest, leaving four deep gashes. However when he looked at the boy, his eyes held no pain or emotion, he just stared blankly with widened eyes.

The vampire chopped at the boy's hand. Yet his grip was too strong, then he spun himself and hurled the boy away. Navalix looked at his had and found it crushed.

For a vampire, an injury like that was child's play, it regenerated instantly and he flew to search for his prey. He found it picking the the blade it dropped earlier.

From the ceiling, Navalix observed this formidable creature which hadn't attacked him yet. He knew he wasn't even going all out but from the divine presence he felt emitting from the boy's being; he felt fear.

' He's a deity, from his scent he was a new born, but what is his concept. He doesn't speak because he doesn't know how to and summoned a blade from mid air, so this means, he is a war or combat God ' Navalix theorized.

He dropped to the ground and stood before the boy. Seeing him the boy slowly took a swordsman stance and they both vanished from their positions.
