Chapter 3 - Chapter Three — The Beast and the Escape

A roar shattered the sudden silence—a _horrifying, hoarse sound_ that seemed to tremble deep within me. _It wasn't human. Not quite._

It was filled with primal rage—a furious cry that heralded violence and pain.

_My blood froze._

My entire body went rigid, every nerve screaming danger. It was coming from the alley.

My eyes instinctively snapped to the dark opening, _cold terror engulfing me_.

---

After that roar, _something massive was flung at tremendous speed_ from the alley, slamming into the opposite wall and pinning it there violently.

_Dust filled the air._

A few moments passed before the thick fog settled, revealing what had been hurled.

_A huge dumpster, wedged high into the wall._

My eyes widened.

Whatever threw that container... _was powerful. Too powerful._

_This is definitely not something a human could do._

---

Amid the terrifying sound and the sight of the container embedded high into the wall, his calm voice sliced through the chaos:

_"Hold on tight."_

His words were _completely_ at odds with the roar of the beast and the sheer horror before us—like _a steady anchor in a sea of mounting panic_.

Before I could process it, _the motorcycle_ rocketed forward.

I barely had a chance to climb onto the back, my hands instinctively grasping his waist.

He was surprisingly solid despite his injury, and the warmth of his body provided _a strange, fleeting comfort_ amid the sudden jolt of terror.

---

The old electric bike, _freed from unnecessary weight_, surged forward at lightning speed, leaving _the haunted alley in a blur_.

_The wind lashed against my face, tearing at my hair and clothes._

My heart _hammered_ against my ribs, pounding like a frantic war drum against the roar of the unknown _pursuing_ us.

I closed my eyes for a moment as we accelerated, my fingers _digging into his shirt_.

The sudden movement _nearly knocked me off balance_.

My mind was still spinning from the roar, struggling to comprehend whatever could make such a sound.

_Pure fury, something I'd only ever heard in horror films._

My breath hitched in my throat.

---

As we sped away, his voice cut through the rushing wind and the distant, echoing screams:

_"Do you have a phone? I lost mine in the alley."_

My eyes snapped open.

A phone? Right.

The _rational_ part of my brain, still struggling to function amidst the chaos, _processed_ the question.

My phone. My bag.

_Oh God, my bag!_ I instinctively touched my hip, where my small bag usually rested.

It was _still_ there.

Thank God.

But why did he need it? What was he planning? Was he asking for help?

_"Yes! In my bag!"_ I shouted, my voice hoarse, rising with lingering fear.

I fumbled for the zipper, my fingers trembling slightly.

_"Why? What do you need it for?"_

My thoughts raced, desperately piecing together this bizarre, terrifying puzzle.

Who was this man?

And what kind of _nightmare_ was he running from?

My usual worries—rent, deliveries, small anxieties—felt *laughable* now.

This was *life or death*, and somehow, _I was in it_.

---

*[MC's POV]*

Before I could respond, I sensed the ghoul _closing in_.

I quickly turned to her and said,

_"Hold on tight. And don't look back."_

Then I gunned the accelerator.

While speaking, I spotted the ghoul *leaping across the rooftops behind us*.

I clicked my tongue and muttered under my breath,

_"Tch... persistent bastard."_

---

I saw an intersection ahead. *Good opportunity.*

Swiftly, I pulled out my gun and barked,

_"Get closer—grab the handlebars!"_

I stood up on the seat, twisted around, and locked onto the ghoul.

_I waited for him to jump... then fired._

_The bullet flew at an incredible speed, unerring in its precision._

But it wasn't just any bullet—it was an *explosive round, designed for hunting ghouls*.

_The bullet struck the ghoul's ankle—and in a heartbeat... it detonated._

_His ankle was completely obliterated._

_The ghoul shrieked in fury, tumbling from the rooftop._

But I didn't care.

I reclaimed control of the bike, my voice steady,

_"That won't kill him, but it'll buy us time..."_

_"Now—about the phone. Call...."_
