Chapter 488 - Outer-Realm Demons

The destructive power just now meant little to Yun Jin.

But if this were a battlefield between humans and demons, and the number of Evil Eye demons multiplied several times over? The sudden ambush would no doubt cause catastrophic casualties.

Once the Evil Eye demons unleashed their self-detonation, they no longer had any other cards to play. Only then did Yun Jin cut them down in a single strike.

Next came the eighty-second floor.

Compared to before, Yun Jin's eyes held a sharper gleam of anticipation.

Demons. She wanted more demons!

The Trial Tower did not disappoint. The instant the scene refreshed, eighty-two demons appeared. This time, it was another high-tier demonic race: the Winged Demons. Most demons resembled humans in appearance, though they carried distinct features unique to their bloodline.

The Winged Demons' mark was a pair of great wings.

Once again, Yun Jin began her patient probing, testing every detail of their abilities. Her slow method made it look as though her pace had faltered.

Outside the tower, the watching disciples murmured among themselves. It seemed the Trial Tower truly lived up to its dreadful reputation, to slow even the Sect Master.

Some disciples gave up waiting and simply sat down to cultivate where they stood. Even if training inside the disciple quarters produced faster progress, none of them wished to miss the moment when the Sect Master broke through.

Time slipped by.

Three more days passed in the blink of an eye.

By then, Yun Jin had fully deciphered the Winged Demons and pressed on to the ninetieth floor.

The trial creatures changed again.

Yun Jin's pupils shrank sharply.

They were still demons, but different from before.

The earlier demonic races had at least some mention within the human race's archives. But these… these had no record whatsoever. What appeared before her was grotesque: no body, only a round head with an enormous gaping mouth.

The Trial Tower's prompt gave the name—Devourer Demon.

Yun Jin's eyes narrowed in shock.

Devourer Demons.

She had seen this name before—hidden deep within a secret plotline.

The demonic soul lodged inside Yang Yun's body was none other than a fragment of the Devourer Demon God's Primordial Spirit. If so, then the race that birthed such a god was beyond terrifying.

At this stage, only a single Devourer Demon emerged instead of ninety. Its appearance was ridiculous, but the battle strength it exuded was anything but laughable.

Yun Jin grew more solemn.

Like before, she tested it slowly, intent on extracting every last secret.

True to its name, the Devourer Demon wielded a terrifying ability to consume. When it exhausted its energy, it could swallow everything in its surroundings to recover in an instant. This ability carried the imprint of law itself.

Yun Jin glimpsed something far more profound.

The Primordial Devouring Force.

When the Law of Devouring reached its peak, it would evolve into the Primordial Devouring Force!

The Devouring Demon before her only grasped fragments of the Law, but the legendary Devouring Demon God must've fully mastered the Primordial Devouring Force itself.

Not all Primordial Forces were equal in strength.

And the Devouring Force, without question, was among the most terrifying.

Yun Jin felt that, in terms of raw offensive power, it even surpassed her own Primordial Flame.

So this was the true might of the outer-realm demons. Each Demon God surely wielded a top-tier Primordial Force, and their subordinates were born with the ability to comprehend Laws.

Yun Jin finally slew the Devourer Demon, yet her heart grew heavier than ever.

A premonition stirred deep inside her.

The outer-realm demons would one day descend on this world, and when that war came… could the cultivators of this realm truly withstand them?

Just the eight Demon Gods alone were enough to drive despair.

Even Master Ji Wusi would likely fall before any one of them.

An urgent weight pressed down on Yun Jin's chest. Steeling her mind, she advanced to the ninety-first floor. Another lone demon awaited. Its skin was dark green, and foul purple fluid seeped from its body with a constant hiss.

The Trial Tower's prompt identified it.

[Crimson Tail Demons.]

This race specialized in the Primordial Poison Force.

Poison was another fearsome Force.

If this race had a Demon God, then without doubt, it had to be the one who mastered the Primordial Poison Force.

Yun Jin maneuvered with extreme caution, probing and observing before moving on. From the ninetieth to the ninety-seventh floor, she faced eight different demon clans.

On the ninety-eighth floor, she confronted all eight Demon Gods united.

Finally, she reached the ninety-ninth floor.

[Your strength has exceeded all expectations. This is the final floor. Once you clear it, the Trial Tower at the Unity stage will be permanently sealed to you. Only upon reaching the Tribulation stage may you attempt it again.]

A mechanical voice echoed.

Then a strange new creature appeared. Yun Jin studied it, her heart jolting. It was the eight demon races she had fought before, fused into a single terrifying entity. Its aura was monstrous, making her spirit quiver just to behold it. It wielded fragments of many laws, though none in their entirety.

Yun Jin herself commanded a complete Primordial Force, yet even so, this battle was far from easy.

At the climax, the abomination focused all of its power into one strike, unleashing destruction capable of shattering the heavens themselves.

The blow nearly ejected Yun Jin from the tower.

Only by transforming into pure flame at the last instant did she narrowly evade.

After a grueling fight, the monstrous fusion finally perished.

The Trial Tower fell silent, leaving Yun Jin alone, her gaze thoughtful.

Then the voice returned.

[Yun Jin has cleared the Unity stage Trial Tower. Congratulations.]

Outside, the ranking stele updated.

Her name remained at the very top, but now it glowed with a golden luster, two characters etched beside it: Cleared.

The crowd erupted in thunderous cheers.

She cleared it! The Sect Master truly cleared it!

Surely, she would emerge soon.

Anticipation rippled through everyone present.

Meanwhile, inside the ninety-ninth floor, Yun Jin began selecting her reward.

Her initial trial choice had been Law Rewards, so every option offered to her now was related to Laws.

For the first time, she gained a true understanding of the hierarchy among the Primordial Forces.

There weren't many people in this world who could even comprehend a single Primordial Force, let alone master one. Knowledge of such things was incredibly rare.

Yet the Trial Tower laid it all bare—listing nearly every known Primordial Force in existence, even ranking them by level.

Hey guys, just a quick heads-up about my recent activity. I've actually been caught up in a totally different project—fonts. Yeah, fonts.

So, on my Android phone I've been using Droid Sans since like ever. I used to be on Roboto back in my college days (around 2017/2018 when I got my first phone), but somewhere around then I switched over and just never looked back. Even when I change phones, I always reinstall Droid Sans because I've gotten way too comfortable with it.

Recently, I suddenly thought: "What if I make this my default system font on my laptop too?" Sounds simple, right? Well… nope. The font is smaller than the default, which meant I had to spend two whole days adjusting things—editing CSS through Stylus so websites like YouTube, ChatGPT, Claude, and Deepseek, etc, don't look microscopic, plus tweaking buttons, menus, and other elements. Windows Explorer was easy (thanks to Advanced System Font Changer), but websites were another story.

On top of that, Droid Sans doesn't support certain characters out of the box—no Hanzi, no Katakana, no Hangul. And don't get me started on Pinyin diacritics, which looked totally messed up since some glyphs were pulled straight from Calibri and slapped on without adjustments. The result? Absolute chaos.

I've been patching it together by pairing Droid Sans with SimSun for Hanzi, which looks way better now. But the real headache is editing and building the Pinyin glyphs manually so they actually match the font style. As I'm writing this (Sept 18 at night), I'm still knee-deep in glyph editing. My brain is fried, and all I can think about is fonts instead of translations.

Hopefully, I'll finish all this by tomorrow and get back to translating. If not… it'll mean I've gone four days without translate anything, which feels super long to me. Normally that's enough time to crank out a bunch of chapters, so yeah, I'm kinda anxious about it.

Wish me luck—I really love this font, but wow, it's been a ride.
