Chapter 92 - Chapter 92/93: Enemies Meet on a Narrow Road

(TL NOTE: The author used chapter 92 as his note.)

"The Trunsoest Brass Book's rules will continue for one hour. After one hour, a new rule stating 'The following rules are invalid' will appear at the boundary between the front and back sections, and only then will the corridor prohibitions be lifted."

Dudley recalled the information about the Brass Book.

"I hope nothing else goes wrong during this time."

What Dudley found relatively reassuring was that the Brass Book's punishment rules hadn't become particularly severe yet. Until the very last moment, violating the prohibitions covering Hogwarts would only result in flogging—there were no punishments involving severed limbs or execution.

"I just don't know if the Brass Book will have problems again after one hour. This activation seems to have ended, but what about next time? This thing feels like a time bomb."

Dudley looked at the Brass Book in his hand, feeling somewhat troubled.

Undeniably, the existence of the Brass Book gave Dudley confidence when facing dangerous situations. Before his own strength had grown, he could use the Brass Book to display more powerful abilities.

But at the same time, he had to be constantly prepared to face the problems brought by the Brass Book's activation.

After pondering for a while, Dudley couldn't think of a better solution and could only temporarily give up.

He recalled what had happened before. He only remembered that at the last moment he had charged toward the Brass Book, and then everything went black—he knew nothing after that.

"How did I seal the Trunsoest Brass Book at that time?"

Just as Dudley was about to carefully recall, he felt his spiritual intuition stopping him.

"My spiritual intuition tells me not to think deeply about this matter."

"Then I won't think about it."

Dudley stopped thinking about this matter. His experience in that world told him it was best to trust the revelations brought by spiritual intuition.

Dudley put the Trunsoest Brass Book back in his inner pocket, then went to the classroom's back door. He planned to leave from here. The front door was too close to the classroom where Malfoy and his group were hiding. If Malfoy saw him, all his previous efforts would be wasted.

After moving aside the debris piled at the back door, Dudley discovered it was locked. But this couldn't stop him.

"Alohomora."

Click.

The back door opened.

"I have to admit, many everyday magic spells are quite useful."

Dudley poked his head out to observe. The corridor was very quiet, and the adjacent classroom wasn't making any strange sounds either.

"Wingardium Leviosa."

Dudley cast a Levitation Charm on himself (Clothes) and floated out of the classroom. After determining his direction, he drifted toward the other end of the corridor, away from where Malfoy and his group were located.

"Going this way, I'll soon reach the place where I fought the troll."

Dudley recalled the map of Hogwarts in his mind and realized that the corridor he was currently in led directly to where the troll's corpse lay.

"That troll is a magical creature after all. I wonder if there are any useful magical materials on its body," Dudley pondered.

After killing the troll, Dudley had originally planned to study its corpse thoroughly, but the subsequent activation of the Brass Book had forced him to immediately deal with that matter.

"I'll take a look since I'm passing by."

Dudley thought as he drifted in that direction. Hogwarts Castle had now become extremely quiet. Dudley no longer heard any screams. This indicated that everyone had figured out the patterns of the corridor prohibitions and was no longer making the same mistakes as before.

A strong stench wafted over. Dudley knew that once he turned the corner ahead, he would see the troll's corpse.

Sure enough, in the blink of an eye, the troll's corpse appeared before him. That massive body, like a small hill, occupied almost half the corridor. Sticky blood flowed from its mouth and nose, staining a large area of the floor and looking extremely disgusting.

Dudley slowly drifted over and activated his spirit vision to examine the troll's body. He could see faint light emanating from the corpse, especially from the area of its heart.

"The heart should be a type of magical material. Also, the troll's skin seems like it could be made into leather armor with strong resistance to magic."

Dudley estimated in his mind. He hovered in midair, thinking about how to dissect this troll's corpse—he didn't have suitable tools at hand.

Just then, Dudley's ears twitched slightly, and he looked up toward the other end of the corridor.

At that moment, a dark-robed figure drifted out from around the corner, black robes billowing in the air, making direct eye contact with Dudley.

"Damn it!"

Dudley cursed silently. What a narrow road for enemies to meet. He had forgotten that this troll had been deliberately released by someone to create a distraction.

On the other side, the dark-robed figure also seemed surprised to encounter someone here, and moreover, that the troll had already become a corpse.

"Reducto!"

Almost without hesitation, the dark-robed figure cast a spell directly at Dudley.

Dudley's expression changed. In his current position, there was nowhere to hide.

Thud!

The next moment, Dudley made a split-second decision, canceling the Levitation Charm on himself and letting his body drop directly to the ground.

Boom...

A loud explosion came from the wall not far behind Dudley, as the hard stone wall was blasted open by the spell, creating a huge hole.

Just as Dudley crashed to the ground, the hood on his head slipped off. The dark-robed figure saw Dudley's face, and his expression suddenly turned cold.

"Avada Kedavra!"

The dark-robed figure seemed to hesitate for a moment, but after a brief pause, he cast the Killing Curse directly.

Dudley's expression became extremely grim. Various defensive spells flashed through his mind, but facing this kind of killing curse, he didn't have absolute confidence he could block it.

"Wingardium Leviosa!"

Suddenly, inspiration flashed in Dudley's mind, and he cast the Levitation Charm on the troll corpse in front of him.

Whoosh!

The massive troll corpse immediately floated up. The brilliant green light shot forward, blocked by the suddenly rising troll body, producing a loud bang.

But the troll was already dead and couldn't die again. Moreover, its skin's resistance to spells meant that this Killing Curse didn't ricochet but was directly absorbed by the troll's corpse.

Dudley quickly retreated, preparing to flee. But the corridor prohibition meant that just as he took a step, he felt severe pain shoot across his back.

"Avada Kedavra."

The Killing Curse came again. Dudley could only manipulate the troll's corpse to block it, barely able to do anything else.

"Damn it, of all times for this to happen."

Dudley's expression was grim. His hand had already reached into his inner pocket. If there was no other way, he would have to use the Trunsoest Brass Book again. Everything else became unimportant in the face of mortal danger.
