Chapter 173 - Chapter 175: The Shopkeeper's Collection

One day later, Dudley used the excuse that he had forgotten to purchase something and took Floo powder to Diagon Alley again.

Originally Ron and Harry wanted to accompany Dudley, but he refused, telling them to stay home and practice Quidditch properly with their new racing brooms.

These past two days they had been absolutely ecstatic with excitement. Not just Harry and Ron, but Fred and George had also joined in the flying sessions, and even Percy had taken a few circles in the sky on the Nimbus 2001.

It was a rare opportunity. This was currently the fastest racing broom in the magical world, and everyone wanted to experience its incredible speed.

As for Dudley, he had only tried flying for about ten minutes before not touching the racing broom again. He had purchased these items for Ron and the others to enjoy, not for himself.

If he had directly given it to Ron, they definitely wouldn't have accepted such an expensive gift, so this arrangement worked perfectly.

In Diagon Alley, Dudley pulled up his hood and quickly found the narrow alley leading to Knockturn Alley.

"Young man, are you lost... ahhhh!" A withered witch approached him, but before she could finish her predatory greeting, she screamed and ran away in absolute terror.

Some dark wizards in the alley who had originally been watching him also showed terrified expressions at this moment, turning and fleeing immediately. Several wizards even Disapparated away instantly, afraid that running too slowly would get them killed by this dangerous wizard.

The battle three days ago had left quite a psychological scar on the dark wizards here.

"I thought you would gather people to come for revenge," Dudley looked at those fleeing dark wizards and sneered with amusement.

Most of the dark wizards gathered here were just common rabble. These people bullied the weak and feared the strong. They would attack those weaker than them without mercy, but after Dudley had given them such a thorough beating, they could only flee in terror.

Passing through the alley, Dudley arrived at Borgin and Burkes and pushed open the door.

"Welcome, Mr. Dursley," Borgin had been waiting for Dudley and immediately greeted him warmly upon seeing him enter.

"Has the new merchandise arrived?" Dudley asked directly.

"Yes, there are quite a few exceptional items," Borgin led Dudley to a small back room, where many Dark Magic items were displayed.

A blood-stained headscarf, a pitch-black frying pan, a bone dagger, and various other sinister objects filled the space.

"You've acquired quite an impressive collection," Dudley said with a light laugh.

Borgin smiled but didn't elaborate on his sources.

Dudley activated his spiritual vision to examine these Dark Magic items. These objects all carried some evil aura, though several things had more concentrated malevolent energy.

"Let me introduce them to you," Borgin said with enthusiasm, seeing Dudley's gaze fall on several particular items.

"This headscarf is said to be hundreds of years old. The blood on it supposedly comes from a dark wizard. After he killed his entire family and then committed suicide, when people found him, only this headscarf remained, with not a single drop of blood at the scene."

"The Killing Curse wouldn't create a bloody scene, would it?" Dudley pointed out logically.

"Yes, but what I mean is there wasn't a single drop of blood left in the bodies at the scene," Borgin continued his explanation.

Dudley's eyes sharpened with interest.

"You guessed correctly. They were all mummified corpses. Afterward, this headscarf passed through many hands, but without exception, their owners all became mummified corpses after wearing this headscarf."

"So this item requires special storage methods?" Dudley asked.

"As long as you don't wear it, nothing dangerous will happen," Borgin explained. "But supposedly, it will constantly tempt its owner to put it on."

Dudley studied the headscarf carefully. It indeed emanated a very potent evil aura.

"Does wearing it cause immediate death, or does it take some time to take effect?" Dudley inquired.

"The moment you put it on, the blood in your body will begin draining until you become a mummified corpse," Borgin described with disturbing detail.

Dudley nodded thoughtfully. "I'll purchase it."

This item might prove very effective in battle situations.

Borgin's face immediately showed delight as he continued introducing other Dark Magic items.

Dudley finally selected some relatively useful objects, spending quite a substantial amount of money, but as long as they could improve his combat capabilities, it was worthwhile to him.

However, after examining everything, Dudley confirmed that none of these items contained the sealed artifacts he was seeking.

"If you acquire any exceptional items in the future, remember to notify me," Dudley said.

"Absolutely no problem," Borgin immediately nodded with enthusiasm.

Then, as if remembering something important, he ran to the counter in the back and retrieved a stack of parchment, handing it to Dudley.

Dudley opened it to examine the contents. Some papers were blank, while others had Borgin's name written on them.

"If you need to contact me for anything, just write your message on the paper with my signature and burn it, and it will appear directly here. The other blank papers are gifts from me to you."

"Please sign your name on these few papers, so when new merchandise arrives, I can notify you immediately."

Borgin said with complete sincerity. Dudley had spent considerable money in his shop and could definitely be called a valued customer.

"Thank you," Dudley didn't refuse and accepted the magical correspondence papers.

After leaving Borgin and Burkes, Dudley placed all the purchased Dark Magic items, along with those parchments, into the Mirror of Erised's dimensional space.

Time passed swiftly, and in the blink of an eye, it was time for school to begin.

On September 1st, Mr. Weasley drove his enchanted flying car, carrying his entire family plus Harry and Dudley to King's Cross Station.

"Harry, Dudley, how do you like this car?" Mr. Weasley asked with obvious pride during the journey.

"Arthur," Mrs. Weasley glared at him warningly.

"Quite excellent, especially how you've combined magic and automobile technology so seamlessly," Dudley praised with genuine appreciation.

In that otherworldly world, technology had already merged successfully with beyonder power. This seemed to be the natural development direction for such worlds.

Even high-sequence beyonders of the Arbiter pathway could weaken the mysterious and strengthen reality through their decrees, which in many ways bridged the gap between technology and beyonder abilities, allowing firearms and other modern weapons to be effective in supernatural combat.

Looking at the magical world, they seemed to still be stuck in traditional ways, even forbidding the combination of magic and technology.

But in the future, this might become the reason for the magical world's decline.

After all, technology in this world was advancing at an incredible pace.

Hearing Dudley's praise for his modified car, Mr. Weasley was absolutely delighted and kept chatting with Dudley about combining magic with Muggle inventions.
