Chapter 23 - Chapter 22

The next match was up — Mina Ashido vs Yuga Aoyama.

As they stepped into the arena, the crowd buzzed with anticipation.

Present Mic's voice boomed across the stadium.

"THIS ONE'S GONNA BE FLASHY, AND I MEAN LITERALLY! Sparkles and acid, folks! Place your bets!"

Yuga spun with a dramatic twirl, one hand on his hip, the other across his chest like he was about to walk a runway.

"I will blind you with elegance," he declared proudly. His belt lit up with a high-pitched whine. "NAVEL LASER!"

A beam of gold light tore across the arena.

He kept firing shot after shot, using the recoil to scoot back, trying to keep distance—but Mina was already on the move, zigzagging across the field. Acid hissed behind her every step as she dodged cleanly, light glinting off her skin.

She flipped forward mid-run, hair bouncing.

"I know your weakness!" she shouted, landing hard. "You can't keep your laser going forever, and if you do, you get stomach pain!"

Yuga's eye twitched.

Before he could power down, Mina dropped low, sliding across the floor with a burst of acid trailing behind her. It splattered near his belt.

"Wait—no no no—"

CRACK!

A clean uppercut to the chin. Yuga spun midair and hit the ground with a glittery thud.

The match was over.

Next up—Momo Yaoyorozu vs Eijiro Kirishima.

They stepped into the ring as the air settled from the last match.

Kirishima cracked his knuckles and gave a big grin.

"I'm going all out. Hope you're ready."

Momo's voice stayed steady. "I expected nothing less."

The buzzer sounded. Kirishima blasted forward without hesitation.

Boom! A burst of white light lit up the center of the arena. Kirishima's charge slowed, just enough for her to backpedal and create a shield. She planted it firmly at her side and started tossing more flash grenade, one after another.

Each one forced him to dodge. Not enough to stop him. But it threw off his rhythm.

He grunted under his breath as he adjusted his footwork and forced his way forward.

"Come on..."

As he reached close again, Momo materialized a spear and jabbed. Kirishima deflected it with his arm and closed the distance fast.

He had more strength.

With one sharp pull, he yanked the shield toward himself throwing Momo off balance. She stumbled to the side. He grabbed the spear too—but in that moment, she created a smoke bomb.

A smoke bomb hissed at her feet.

The arena filled with haze.

Present Mic: "Whaaaat's this?! Yaoyorozu with the smoke-screen counter!"

Inside the smoke, she tossed another flash grenade toward him. Kirishima shielded his eyes just as she stepped back and created a taser at the end of a long staff.

She didn't wait.

As he broke through the smoke, she struck first.

ZZZT!

The charge hit as he winced but didn't stop.Kirishima pushed through the voltage, gritting his teeth, and slammed a sheild right through her guard forward like a battering ram.

Momo barely raised her arm before it hit and flew back, hitting the floor hard.

He walked up, breathing heavy, and picked up the taser stick from where she dropped it. Pointed it back down at her.

"I lost," Momo said quietly.

Next up — Izuku Midoriya vs Hitoshi Shinso wasn't much of a show.

They'd already worked together during the cavalry battle. They knew what was coming.

Shinso's whole strategy depended on his opponent answering him. But Izuku didn't speak. He didn't even glance at him.

He just moved.

They exchanged a few quick hits. Shinso tried to bait him with a comment but nothing worked.

It ended fast. One hit to the gut, one to the jaw, and Shinso was down.

Present Mic: "…Welp. That was kinda anticlimactic."

Aizawa: "Izuku alredy knew his quirk. And Shinso had no plan B and He also hasn't trained his hand-to-hand combat to match his Quirk, which is very passive."

Next up — Shoto Todoroki vs Hanta Sero.

They faced each other, Sero already pulling tape from his elbows.

Todoroki didn't wait.

He raised one hand and without a word, summoned a glacier that tore across the arena like a tidal wave of frost.

By the time the ice stopped moving, Sero was frozen into the structure

As the crowd recovered from the sudden chill, the bracket lit up, displaying the next updated matchups.

Next Round

Tenya Iida vs Mashirao Ojiro

Katsuki Bakugo vs Reiji Kogane

Mina Ashido vs Eijiro Kirishima

Shoto Todoroki vs Izuku Midoriya

The next battle was Tenya Iida vs Mashirao Ojiro.

Ojiro rolled his shoulders and took a steady stance, tail swaying behind him. Tenya stood upright and locked eyes with him.

And Tenya didn't waste a second.

"Recipro BURST!"

His engines roared, blue flames bursting from his calves as he launched forward like a rocket.

Ojiro's eyes widened—he saw the blur, tried to pivot but there wasn't enough time. His stance wasn't wide enough. He couldn't match that speed.

Tenya was already behind him.

A full-body grab. One clean lift.

And he escorted Ojiro straight out of bounds

Present Mic: "WHOOOAA! That was a drive-by elimination! Blink and you missed it!"

Match over. Tenya wins.

Next up — Katsuki Bakugo vs. Reiji Kogane.

Bakugo cracked his neck. "You better not waste my time."

I muttered under my breath, "Harder. Better. Faster. Stronger."

Bakugo launched at me full speed, lobbing a flashbang at my feet on the way.

Trying to blind me.

Smart idea.

But not enough.

Daft Punk moved on instinct. Before Bakugo could fire a full blast, Daft slipped around him and slammed a hook into his ribs.

He flew back, boots grinding across the floor as he tried to stop the slide.

He stood up, panting. Realizing.

That I didn't need to give commands. That Daft Punk moved like it had thoughts of its own.

Present Mic: "Oho! Solid strategy from Bakugo — but it looks like Reiji's got a counter for everything! What do you think, Aizawa?"

Aizawa: "Reiji has strong control over his Quirk. But more than that — he's disciplined. This is what happens when a high-level Quirk goes to someone who actually trains hard. His Quirk's powerful and versatile."

Bakugo tried everything.

Close-range pressure. Sudden direction shifts. His strongest explosions, thrown from far back this time.

Still no use.

Every blast got shut down.

Daft punched through them.

And when Bakugo made one final charge—

Daft stepped in and sent him flying out of bounds, knocking him unconscious.

Match over. Reiji Wins.
