Chapter 2599 - 5774

Chapter 5774: Implied Criticism

Qiao Lin looked at him coldly. "So this is your best way to keep her?"

"You knew she had lost consciousness, yet you stubbornly used the most foolish method to keep her."

"Why didn't you take her out for treatment?"

"Do you know the extent of development our medicinal liquids have reached now?"

"Our healing liquid can awaken the consciousness of special-grade corpse puppets. It can effectively prevent corpse puppets from further deepening their mutation."

"There was medicine to save her. If you had taken her to the corpse puppet relief station in Sikong Star, you could have changed her fate."

However, now, he had missed the optimal treatment time for the corpse puppet. This man was bound to pay the heaviest price for his foolishness.

The strange man lay prostrate on the ground, as if he had heard some Arabian Nights tale, and roared with all his might, "No, impossible! You're lying to me, lying to me!"

Qiao Lin looked at him sympathetically. "The outside world has already undergone earth-shattering changes."

"Except for a few corpse puppets that are special cases and truly beyond salvation, most have already been rescued."

"Your wife was a high-grade corpse puppet, so she should have been salvageable," Qiao Lin shook her head, her expression indifferent. "It's just that you dragged this out for too long."

The female corpse puppet was rotten and dilapidated all over; there was no way to save her. Furthermore, she had eaten so many living people here that, for various reasons, it was impossible to save her. That's why Qiao Lin said that it was this strange man's arrogance and foolishness that destroyed the female corpse puppet.

Mo Yu glanced at the strange man indifferently and said to Qiao Lin, "Why bother saying so much nonsense to him?" He was a dead man anyway; there was no need to say more. Everyone walks their own path, and this strange man chose to hide in the Undead Village, snatching ordinary people to feed his wife. His mind was quite flexible; he even knew to use the mist-shrouded Undead Village as bait, causing trouble here for some time.

Qiao Lin sighed at him, nodded, and said, "Send him on his way. It can be considered a family reunion."

The strange man, upon hearing this, chuckled loudly, his eyes filled with immense fury, glaring fiercely at Qiao Lin and Mo Yu. "I won't even spare you as a ghost..."

"Pop" went a soft sound. An arrowhead, without question, pierced his heart. He was sent on his way before he could even finish his threat.

"Beyond salvation," Qiao Lin shook her head helplessly. He clearly did wrong, yet he still wanted to vent all his hatred on others. Truly ridiculous. They weren't afraid of living people, so how could they be afraid of a dead ghost?

The two simply set a fire, completely burning the wooden building to ashes. The soaring flames naturally attracted the hidden guards and others searching for them. When everyone found them, the wooden building had already turned into a pile of ashes.

Baozi the guard said with lingering fear, "I didn't expect such a large spirit snake and giant python to be hiding here."

"Your Royal Highness, Second Miss Qiao, are you two all right?"

"What could be wrong with us?" The two said in unison, looking at each other. Qiao Lin thought to herself: Hmph, good thing you didn't come. If you had, and found out your Royal Highness summoned a fire-breathing sacred beast, I wonder how surprised you would have been.

Baozi the guard chuckled, "Since you're fine, let's hurry on our way." The environment nearby was gloomy and damp, making one feel uncomfortable just staying there. It was better to leave as quickly as possible.

Mo Yu nodded, then turned to look at Qiao Lin. "Lin'er, do you have anything for dispelling miasma and fog?"

An Unpleasant Encounter

"I do, but it would take about half an hour to clear such a large expanse of gloomy, pervasive mist."

"That's fine. We'll rest here for half an hour. It's not too late to leave after the mist dissipates."

Qiao Lin thought it made sense, so she pulled out a few miasma-dispelling pills from her pocket and handed them to Baozi the guard.

Princess Huaizhu, who had been standing by silently, couldn't help but interject when she heard Mo Yu speak. "Since you can disperse this thick mist, why didn't you take out the items when we first entered the village?" Her words carried a hint of implied criticism.

Qiao Lin glanced at her but didn't speak. Then Mo Yu said indifferently from the side, "Didn't consider it earlier, is that not allowed?" He had only just remembered it upon seeing Little Lin, and his question was merely tentative. If she had it, great; if not, they'd proceed as usual.

Princess Huaizhu felt resentful, thinking: You protect this little hussy so diligently. I just said one thing, and I was immediately rebutted. Qiao Lin ignored her and sat down to rest. The matter of the corpse puppet couple made her feel very uncomfortable. She always felt that such human tragedies shouldn't happen.

Qingluo walked up to Huaizhu, tugged on her sleeve, and whispered a persuasion, "Princess, let's not have a conflict with Second Miss Qiao for now." Everything can wait until we return to the capital. Qingluo gave Princess Huaizhu a look that urged patience.

Huaizhu thought the same. Once she returned to the capital, with her aunt's backing, she would definitely be able to hold her head high.Patience for a moment brings calm. Princess Huaizhu flung her sleeve and retreated to a tree, supported by Qingluo, and sat down on a rock.

She hadn't sat for long when Huaizhu felt something tug at her skirt. Thinking it was Qingluo pulling at her again, Huaizhu impatiently raised her hand to brush it away. "What do you want?"

A moment later, something tugged at her again.

"If you have something to say, say it," Princess Huaizhu's expression grew increasingly impatient.

Qingluo heard her suddenly speak, turned her head to look in confusion, then her eyes widened, and she shrieked in alarm, "Princess!"

"What are you screaming about?" Princess Huaizhu's eardrums hurt from her sudden shout.

Qingluo swallowed, her entire face filled with terror.

"Pri-Princess, Princess!" Qingluo and the few maids beside her collectively took several steps back, their faces filled with fear, staring at the direction behind Princess Huaizhu.

"What are you doing??" Huaizhu turned her head, annoyed, and suddenly came face to face with a skeletal face behind her.

"Ah!" she screamed and jumped up abruptly. Goosebumps rose all over her body, and only then did she clearly see large and small skeletal monkeys standing behind her. Just the thought of these ghostly things silently pressing against her back made Princess Huaizhu almost faint.

Forcing herself to calmly step backward, Huaizhu called out tremblingly, "Qing, Qingluo."

"Whoosh!" A pillar of water suddenly landed on a few of the monkeys, blasting them away.

Qiao Lin said coldly, "What are you all standing around for? Fight!"

At this command, the petrified crowd immediately snapped back to their senses, unleashing their mystic and spiritual energy, launching a barrage of long-range attacks at the group of skeletal monkeys.
