It was Mother's turn to shoot me with her stony stare, but she said nothing of that matter. "Oh look, here she comes!"
Sloane walked up the stairs, dressed elegantly in a way that outshone the others present.
"What do you think, Drevon? Doesn't she look beautiful like a rare jewel? The royal diamonds look good on you."
Sloane curtsied. "Thank you, Dowager, your gifts were lovely."
"How respectful too, seeing you glowing makes me happy."
"You honor me too much, Dowager."
"Of course I would, you'll be my daughter soon."
I could feel Mother's gaze on me now, drilling like a hole.
"My liege," she curtseyed to me, smiling brightly.
"Why don't you ask her to dance?" Mother offered.
Sloane looked at me with a twinkle in her eyes, and all I did was stare blankly.
It was late, was Eloise sleeping right now? If she wasn't, then what was she doing right now?
