Chapter 212 - Where The Curtains Draped

Our eyes connected, and my pulse raced. Even as the crowd passed us by, she didn't seem one bit distracted. I was held within her pinnacle of attention, and I don't want to be anything less.

I stood in plain sight, where the curtains draped, my back leaning against the wall, and my arms folded. Yet, my entire existence howled at me to close the distance.

I moved a finger back and forth, a signal for her to come to me.

Eloise didn't hesitate to respond, dropping Snow on the stairs and rising to her feet.

Because of how busy everyone was, no one saw her move. She slipped out easily, using her hand to push the drapes aside.

"What are you doing here, husband? Hiding?" she amused, peering at me through her lashes with loving eyes.

When I didn't reply, she said. "Playing mute?" She placed a hand on my chest, and her breathing hitched. I was certain she could feel the heat rolling off my body to hers.

"Give me a reason," I mumbled deeply.

"A reason for what?" she asked sweetly.
