Chapter 213 - Chapter 213: Dragon Transformation Demon Array

The Demon Wrath Nine Absolutes included only one movement-type Dou Technique—Demonic Lotus Burial Step. Though it was a movement technique, it by no means lacked offensive power. On the contrary, in his past life, countless experts had fallen under this technique, some even more powerful than the current Three Dragon Kings. This was the very reason it earned the name Burial of Life.

In terms of sheer speed, the Demonic Lotus Burial Step was not at all inferior to high-level Heaven-rank movement techniques. If Xiao Yan had unleashed it at full force, the Three Dragon Kings would not have been able to land a single blow. However, he had deliberately slowed down—not because of physical limitations, but because he wanted to activate the second function of this technique.

That function was formation weaving.

The path traced by the footwork of Demonic Lotus Burial Step formed a mysterious pattern, which, once completed, became an array. When Xiao Yan executed this technique, the strange trails he left behind essentially marked out the structure of that formation.

In his previous life, many had attempted to disrupt the footwork mid-execution. Yet, regardless of interference, the formation always completed itself. This uncanny attribute had led many to speculate that Xiao Yan had prepared multiple layout diagrams in advance and could adapt to any situation. No matter how the enemy acted, the formation would take shape.

However, few people ever discovered the truth—Xiao Yan had only ever used a single formation. The reason no one could interrupt him was because his arrays weren't formed solely by his movements. He cleverly incorporated the actions of his enemies as well. When he dodged their attacks, their Dou Qi bursts just so happened to fill the missing nodes of the formation.

To put it plainly—he used his enemies to complete the array.

Truth be told, with Xiao Yan's current strength, performing Demonic Lotus Burial Step was still quite strenuous. Had he been at his peak, nine steps would've sufficed to finish the formation, thus earning the move its alternate name: Nine Steps to Bury All Living Things.

"Damn it! Who would've thought this brat had another trick up his sleeve!" North Dragon King cursed as he glared at the illusory lotus suspended in the sky. Even he couldn't help but feel a trace of regret. This human of unknown origin was simply too strange—one hidden trump card after another. And now, this floating lotus array actually made him feel... death approaching.

"What do we do?" West Dragon King asked, a tinge of panic in his voice. The array hadn't even activated fully, and yet he already felt its terrifying aura. Once it erupted, there would be no way to withstand it.

"You two hold out for a while. I have a way to break this formation," North Dragon King suddenly declared. The other two were momentarily stunned, but then nodded. At this point, they could only place their hopes on him.

Both spat out a mouthful of golden blood, which spread rapidly and formed a massive golden bell around their bodies—a defensive barrier formed from their combined energy.

"Dragon Emperor Bell!"

"Activate." Xiao Yan pointed a finger, and the illusory lotus overhead began to rotate. A terrifying heat burst forth from within, instantly distorting the air. Even with the protection of the bell, the three Dragon Kings could feel their skin redden from the heat.

Worse still, they sensed that the Dou Qi within their bodies was beginning to evaporate. This was despite the energy shield insulating them. If that shield were to fail, they would likely be reduced to ash in mere seconds.

And that wasn't all. The lotus radiated a strange corroding force. Even the joint defense of two late-stage Three-Star Dou Saints couldn't withstand it. The bell began to crack and shimmer with instability.

"Are you done yet?" South Dragon King shouted anxiously.

"Finished…" came a hoarse voice from behind.

Blood-red light suddenly flared up around North Dragon King, expanding into a sticky crimson sea. It surged across the sky, engulfing the battlefield and everyone from the three dragon clans.

Xiao Yan's expression changed slightly. He could sense the monstrous energy surging within that blood sea. His formation was rapidly being dissolved. In the next moment, a sharp screech echoed as a terrifying figure slowly emerged from the misty sea of blood.

The creature that stepped forward was vaguely human-shaped, but its form was grotesque. A living tide of blood seemed to writhe across its body. Most disturbing of all—it had three faces, each horrifyingly familiar.

"They… fused?" Zi Yan's voice trembled as she recognized the three Dragon Kings' faces on the monster's head.

"That's not a fusion." Elder Zhuohuo, the oldest in Ancient Void Dragon Clan, looked grim. "That is the forbidden technique that was supposed to have been destroyed—Dragon Transformation Demon Array."

"What?" Elder Lieshan and Elder Zhuomu, standing nearby, looked equally shocked and pale.

The Dragon Transformation Demon Array was a forbidden secret technique within the Ancient Void Dragon Clan. It forcefully boosted one's strength by absorbing the life force and Dou Qi of all others within the array. It was originally created by the North Dragon King's grandfather and caused immense chaos in the past, so the clan had purged it entirely. Or so they had thought. Apparently, the old man had kept a backup—and now, it had returned.

By consuming West and South Dragon Kings along with countless other dragon bloodlines, the current North Dragon King had skyrocketed in power. In mere seconds, his strength surged beyond Four-Star and reached Five-Star Dou Saint, brushing up against Six-Star.

The array had once triggered a massacre in the clan's history, and now it reappeared in an even more monstrous form. Even those loyal to North Dragon King found their expressions dark and conflicted.

"You actually broke my array… not bad at all." Xiao Yan muttered as he stared at the monstrous version of North Dragon King. He could feel the latter's power had risen to Five-Star Dou Saint peak, maybe even at the threshold of Six-Star.

Still, that didn't mean Xiao Yan's formation was weak—only that the current disparity between their strengths was too vast. Demonic Lotus Burial Step hadn't reached its ultimate form either. The array was incomplete, merely a beginner-level construct. If Xiao Yan had been at equal power, that monster would've been trapped and burned to ashes.

Even so, this was only one battle.

And Xiao Yan wasn't finished yet.
