Chapter 230 - Chapter 230: Reunion with Hun Dai’er

After entering Hun Xuzi's residence, Xiao Yan began making preparations. He opened up a small spatial dimension and used his control over spatial power to construct a tunnel that connected it to the outside world. This tunnel would serve as an escape route should anything go wrong while he was inside the Hun Clan.

Now that he had reached the Seven-Star Dou Sheng Rank and further enhanced his spatial mastery through the power of the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit—his body having already transformed into the Dragon Phoenix Physique—his command over space had reached an entirely new level. As such, creating this small spatial tunnel didn't alert anyone, not even the secluded Hun Tiandi.

Just as Xiao Yan finished setting up the escape tunnel, he sensed an unfamiliar aura approaching his room. He emerged from the pocket dimension and asked coldly, "Who's there?"

"Master Hun Xuzi, the young miss has sent me to summon you. She wishes to discuss something important," the maid outside replied respectfully.

Upon hearing the words "young miss," Xiao Yan's body stiffened ever so slightly. In the Hun Clan, there was only one person who held that title—Hun Dai'er. Though he had long anticipated encountering her after infiltrating the clan, he hadn't expected it to happen this soon...

"Understood…" Xiao Yan took a deep breath and composed himself. Hun Dai'er couldn't possibly know that he had disguised himself as Hun Xuzi. This meeting likely had to do with what happened at the Peak of Falling Star. He would have to act his part well and not show any cracks in front of that woman.

After steadying his state of mind, Xiao Yan followed the maid to the place where Hun Dai'er handled clan affairs. With Hun Tiandi in seclusion, much of the Hun Clan's administrative power had shifted to her. Xiao Yan could easily imagine that she had already drawn several of the older generation into her faction.

Still, she likely didn't dare to expose them openly. For now, those elders would remain hidden in the shadows. After all, if Hun Tiandi wished to eliminate her, it would be as simple as crushing an ant. Even in their past life, it had taken all their strength and strategy to finally bring down that peerless tyrant.

Finally, under the maid's guidance, Xiao Yan saw the woman who had once inflicted so much pain upon him. She sat behind her desk, still dressed in her usual white robe. Her silky silver hair draped over her shoulders, exuding a unique allure. Other than her face being slightly more youthful, she looked almost exactly as he remembered her from his past life.

Xiao Yan had expected to feel anger or bitterness upon seeing her again. But to his surprise, his heart was calm—no hatred, no resentment. The events of their past life now felt like distant clouds, unable to stir his emotions anymore.

As Xiao Yan entered, Hun Dai'er seemed to sense something. She looked up, motioning for everyone in the room to leave. Once they were alone, she gazed at Xiao Yan with a faint smile and said, "Your act was quite convincing. Even I nearly believed you were Hun Xuzi."

"Young miss, I'm afraid I don't understand what you're talking about." Xiao Yan's heart trembled slightly, but his expression remained composed. However, the Dou Qi within his body began to quietly circulate—ready to strike if necessary.

"I know what you're thinking," Hun Dai'er said softly. "But I suggest you don't act rashly. My body carries a soul imprint left behind by my father. If I'm placed in danger, he will immediately force his way out of seclusion."

Her smile remained calm as she continued, "For you to impersonate Hun Xuzi and sneak into the Hun Clan, he must already be dead—killed by your hand, no doubt. No matter how you did it, the fact that Hun Xuzi was a Seven-Star Dou Sheng means your strength must be at least at the Five-Star level."

"But Hun Xuzi wouldn't even dare to make a move in front of my father. I don't think you'd make it out alive if he confronted you."

"You only remember he's your father when it's convenient. Didn't seem like you minded cutting him down yourself back then," Xiao Yan sneered, no longer bothering to pretend. Since his identity had been exposed, there was no point in continuing the act. With his current strength, if he wanted to leave, Hun Dai'er couldn't stop him.

"Please, different times call for different strategies. With an advantage like that, why wouldn't I use it?" Hun Dai'er replied indifferently. "If you were in my position, you'd have done the same."

"True enough," Xiao Yan didn't argue. Borrowing power was a legitimate tactic—it was just that he didn't have those kinds of resources. He could only rely on himself and walk his own path.

"Your disguise was actually excellent. No one else would've noticed. It's just unfortunate you ran into me." Hun Dai'er propped up her chin and gazed into Xiao Yan's dark eyes. "Do you know how I saw through you? If you were really Hun Xuzi, you wouldn't have dared look me in the eye."

"So that's it..." Xiao Yan finally understood his mistake. Because of his habit formed through using the Extinction Flame Eyes, he always looked people directly in the eyes. While that seemed normal for him, Hun Xuzi would never have dared to do so. And since Hun Dai'er knew him so well, she caught on immediately.

"Never thought we'd meet again like this," Hun Dai'er stared at his face for a moment, then sighed. "Seriously though… could you stop wearing that face? It's ugly."

Xiao Yan blinked in confusion. Hun Xuzi's appearance wasn't bad—one could even call it handsome. But she was calling it ugly? After a slight pause, he lifted the transformation, revealing his real appearance: a clean and youthful face that still retained a hint of boyishness.

Hun Dai'er froze for a moment, her eyes locked on the face that had haunted her for over a decade. Compared to the image in her memory, today's Xiao Yan carried a different kind of aura. He no longer exuded the cold pride of the past, but instead gave off a calm, approachable presence. No one would suspect that this harmless-looking young man had once bathed half of Central Plains in blood.

"You've really changed a lot," she murmured, her eyes scanning his face. Then, with a smirk, she added, "I hear quite a few mature older women are into your type these days. I bet you've had plenty of flirtatious encounters on your journey, haven't you?"

"Hmph, you think I'm that kind of person?" Xiao Yan snorted.

"Fair point. You're the Wrathful Demon Saint, after all—famous for ignoring women," Hun Dai'er thought to herself with a touch of relief. It seemed that although Xiao Yan had matured, he hadn't been snatched up by anyone yet. But what she didn't know was that while he hadn't exactly encountered many "older sisters"… when it came to romantic encounters…

Well, there had been quite a few of those.
