Chapter 237 - Chapter 237: The Battle of Extermination

"You truly live up to the name of the Yan Can's chief—your familiarity with Heavenly Flames is impressive." Xiao Yan smiled faintly. In front of him, the space trembled slightly as black flames surged and rapidly converged into a humanoid form—this was none other than the true body of the Void Devouring Flame! The blow that had repelled Yan Jin earlier had, of course, been delivered personally by him.

"Yan Jin, the fact that I've had to act personally… is something you can take pride in." A strange smile surfaced on the face of the Void Devouring Flame. With a sweep of his hand, endless black flames surged across the skies above the entire Profound Fire Mountain Range, forming a terrifying curtain of destruction. "From today onward… your Yan Can will be nothing more than history!"

"Void Devouring Flame…" Yan Jin's expression turned extremely grim. From their brief exchange earlier, he had clearly sensed the overwhelming difference in strength—this being had already stepped into the realm of a true Nine-Star Dou Sheng!

The realization struck like a hammer—despair seeped in. Although Yan Jin himself was a peak Eight-Star Dou Sheng, the gap between the eighth and ninth stars was like a vast chasm. Not everyone could defy the heavens like Xiao Yan.

Had he been fighting side by side with the Thunder Clan's chief, he might have had a chance to hold his ground. But now, facing the Void Devouring Flame alone, the outcome was already sealed.

The other Yan Can elders, including Huo Ling Xianzi, also recognized how dire the situation was. They all gazed up at the oppressive black figure above with grim determination, Dou Qi surging within their bodies as they prepared for a final stand.

Just then, Huo Zhi stepped forward and spoke. "Clan Leader, our Yan Can territory isn't far from here. If the others realize something's wrong, they'll surely come to investigate. As long as they arrive in time, we can activate the Guardian Array and repel the Void Devouring Flame!"

"My, what a clever little girl." Xiao Yan chuckled, clapping his hands slowly. "But let's not assume you can last that long. Even if you do… do you think we wouldn't take advantage of the perfect opportunity with your clan leader away from the clan? I'm afraid the ones back in your territory might not hold out as long as you do."

"What?!" The expressions of the surrounding Yan Can experts changed drastically. Could it be that while attacking Yan Jin, the Hun Clan had also launched an assault on the clan's interior? Though the clan lacked the presence of its chief, it still had a resident Seven-Star Dou Sheng and several other powerful elders. Their strength rivaled that of the Pill Tower, yet Xiao Yan made it sound like it was nothing.

"I'm well aware that your Yan Can still has a number of strong fighters. There's a Seven-Star Dou Sheng as well… but against the Four Demon Saints of the Hun Clan?" Xiao Yan said calmly. "Even if your elder was at the peak of Seven-Star, he'd be hard-pressed to hold his ground. Against all four? I doubt he'll last long."

Those words sent a chill through the hearts of Huo Ling Xianzi and the others. The Four Demon Saints were infamous for a reason. Each one was a peak Seven-Star Dou Sheng. The elder guarding the clan was only in the early stage—any one of the Four Demon Saints could beat him. Together, they would be overwhelming.

Naturally, this entire strategy wasn't the handiwork of the Hun Clan—it was meticulously laid out by Xiao Yan. If left to the Hun Clan, they might have only sent one Demon Saint and likely run into complications or unexpected twists mid-operation. That was exactly why Hun Dai'er had been so intent on recruiting Xiao Yan—if only more of their operatives were half as reliable as him, the Hun Clan might have already ruled the continent.

"Damn it! Clan Leader, let's just fight them head-on!" Huo Ling Xianzi gritted her teeth, eyes burning with resolve. Though a woman, her courage was unmatched. Seeing the Yan Can pushed to the brink, she was the first to voice the desire to fight to the death. "Even if I die here, I'll make sure the Hun Clan bastards pay in blood!"

"No." Yan Jin clenched his fists and glanced around at Huo Zhi and the other younger generation members. His eyes settled on Huo Ling Xianzi. "I will buy us time by holding off the Void Devouring Flame. I'll rip open a spatial rift. Elder Huo Ling, I want you to lead the young ones and flee to the Ancient Clan. Seek protection from the Ancient Clan's leader."

"But Clan Leader—"

"I am the Yan Can's chief. If I must die here… then I will die where I belong." Yan Jin's voice cut off her protest. He turned back, locking eyes with the Void Devouring Flame. "Go. Don't let our sacrifice be in vain!"

"Oh, how moving." The Void Devouring Flame let out a mocking laugh. "But unfortunately… none of you are leaving."

As his arms extended, an overwhelming tide of black flame poured out, engulfing the entire Profound Fire Mountain Range. Under its influence, the Dou Qi in the bodies of the Yan Can's experts began to rapidly dissipate!

As the black flames expanded, figures emerged from the mountains below—dozens of Hun Clan operatives. The Yan Can's grand event had somehow been thoroughly infiltrated. Yan Jin's heart sank even further.

"This guy can manipulate devouring force to such an extent?" Yan Jin's face darkened. With a shout, crimson-golden flames erupted from his body, scattering the black flames nearby.

The Void Devouring Flame narrowed his eyes slightly, intrigued by the new flames. He licked his lips and chuckled. "So this is the new fusion of the Nine Nether Golden Ancestor Flame and the Volcanic Stone Flame? It does have an impressive aura. Let's hope its power doesn't disappoint me."

Heavenly Flames carried a unique instinct. If they encountered another flame in an unbound state, they would instinctively try to devour one another. The Void Devouring Flame, in particular, was born with devouring power. Even though he had reached Nine-Star Dou Sheng, this instinct remained engraved in his very being. He knew—if he could absorb the two flames within Yan Jin's body, his power would rise even further.

"Burning Heaven Technique!" Yan Jin roared. Crimson-golden flames transformed into a blazing sea of fire, sweeping across the battlefield toward the Hun Clan forces. Rather than targeting the Void Devouring Flame directly, he aimed to take down as many enemies as possible and buy time for the others to escape.
