Xiao Yan didn't hesitate in the slightest to turn and leave once he saw that the white-clothed woman had no intention of answering his question. Just as he had said before, he had no interest in staying here to waste time with someone who only spoke in riddles. What's more, she was merely a residual energy remnant—probably already long dead. Chatting with a remnant soul? He had far better things to do.
"Young man, don't leave so quickly! I haven't finished speaking yet!" The white-robed woman was slightly stunned at how decisively Xiao Yan turned to leave. She quickly called out to stop him.
"I'm not interested." Xiao Yan responded without even turning his head.
"I'll grant you a great opportunity!" the woman continued to shout. "All I need is for you to help me with one task!"
"Still not interested," he said again, showing no intention of slowing down. Xiao Yan had long since figured out that people—or souls—who had been dead for who-knows-how-long were almost always schemers. The kinds of tasks they asked others to complete were always enormous burdens—impossible things they couldn't do themselves. Why else would they seek someone else's help? Only a fool would accept such a deal.
"Don't be so quick to refuse! If you finish this task, I swear I'll reward you handsomely. I'll even warm your bed if you want!"
"Pft. Who wants some long-dead granny to warm their bed?" Xiao Yan rolled his eyes and, rather than stopping, increased his speed.
"Damn it! I refuse to believe I can't make you stay!" The woman's noble demeanor completely collapsed. She transformed into a stream of light and darted toward him.
Her speed was astonishing—even Xiao Yan couldn't shake her off. That stream of light pierced directly into Xiao Yan's body, and the space in front of him abruptly tore open into a swirling black vortex over ten meters wide. From within, a terrifying spatial fluctuation burst out, followed by a massive suction force trying to pull him inside.
Even after pushing his speed to the limit, Xiao Yan found himself unable to escape. The last time something similar had happened was when he encountered the strange light pillar atop the Fallen Summit. Was this another similar phenomenon? A bitter smile crossed his face. 'Seriously? Am I about to transmigrate again?'
But as he was sucked into the vortex, he quickly realized that it was not just some chaotic rift. It was a structured dimensional tunnel. From the far end, a powerful pulling force yanked at his body. No matter how much he resisted, he couldn't break free. He could only watch helplessly as he was dragged forward.
"Stop struggling. This isn't your world's spatial tunnel. It's a dimensional passage leading to my world," the white-robed woman's voice once again echoed in his mind. "With your strength, escaping is impossible."
"A dimensional passage? You're not from this world?" Xiao Yan immediately reacted. Was she—like the Nine Nether Illusion Flame—also from another plane?
"Correct. My world is called the Tianxuan Continent. It's similar to your Dou Qi Continent. Unfortunately, it has already fallen to an evil race known as the Demonic Beings. In order to save my world, I had to spread my soul remnants across other planes to seek aid. This was the last remnant that survived."
"But when I came to your world, I encountered a temporal turbulence. Soon, you'll likely experience one yourself as you enter my plane."
"Temporal turbulence? What'll happen if I get caught in it?" Xiao Yan asked urgently. While he didn't know much about temporal turbulence, he was well aware of spatial turbulence—getting caught in that was often a death sentence.
"Don't worry. It's nothing too dangerous. At worst, it'll mess up the time you arrive in my world. The offset should only be around sixty to seventy years or so. Oh… and your body might suffer severe trauma. But that's manageable."
"That's 'manageable' to you?" Xiao Yan's eyelid twitched violently. "So I'm supposed to show up in some completely foreign world, severely injured, and take on a race that's already had over half a century to establish itself and conquer an entire continent?"
"You're exaggerating. The Demonic Beings have only ruled for about a decade. Besides, in your current state, the only threat would be the Demon Emperor. Take him out, and the rest are nothing."
"What's the Demon Emperor's strength?" Xiao Yan asked cautiously.
"Hmm… probably somewhere around the Ancestor Realm," the woman replied after thinking for a moment.
"Ancestor Realm? What's that?" Xiao Yan asked, unfamiliar with the term.
"Well… it's equivalent to your world's Dou Di."
"F***!" Xiao Yan couldn't hold back anymore. "You said that so casually! As if defeating a Dou Di was no big deal! What do you think I am, a god?! I should've taken Hun Dai'er up on her offer instead of getting myself kidnapped by some ancient grandma!"
"I'm serious. You're the only one I can trust," the woman said with a calm smile. "Even if you can't fight a Dou Di now, you'll be able to in the future."
"Why are you so confident in me?"
"Because in just a few years, you went from someone not even at the Nirvana Stage to someone who's completed the Three Cycles of Reincarnation Tribulation. Even the Eight Ancient Lords from my era couldn't match that. Besides… I don't have anyone else left."
"Damn you…" Xiao Yan muttered. When he first heard the cultivation terms, he had no idea what she was talking about. But by the time she got to the part about having no one else, he felt an intense urge to curse. Despite his struggles and protests, his body continued being drawn deeper into the tunnel.
Up ahead, a gray light sphere appeared. Within that sphere was a chaotic, stormy energy that pulsed with lethal force. Even someone as strong as him might not survive being drawn into it.
"That's the temporal turbulence. Good luck." The woman's voice grew faint as Xiao Yan's body was flung into the sphere.
"If I ever find out who you really are, I swear I'll kill you!" Xiao Yan's voice echoed fiercely through the dimensional passage before it faded into silence.
Soon after, the entire passage returned to stillness, as if no one had ever passed through it.
