The location where the Dragon God Ruins had emerged was in the far eastern reaches of the Divine Beast Continent, in a place called the Sunset Mountain Range. It was an incredibly remote region, so far from the Nine Nether Continent that even a peak Ninth Grade Sovereign would need to fly for an entire year to reach it. Even with a teleportation array, it still took Xiao Yan and his group nearly a full month to arrive.
Currently, Xiao Yan could claim 700,000 drops of Sovereign Spiritual Liquid per month. Adding what Qing Tan had returned to him, plus the leftovers from earlier, he barely had a million drops saved up. That gave him enough spending power to at least buy a few desirable items after they arrived, so he wouldn't be forced to simply watch while others took everything.
As for participating in an auction, Xiao Yan could only sigh. A million drops might sound like a lot, but for a Seventh Grade Sovereign, he was practically dirt poor. Not to mention, his companions each carried over ten million drops of Sovereign Spiritual Liquid.
Moreover, during their travels, Xiao Yan had sensed a faint, dangerous fluctuation on each of them—something so subtle even he felt uneasy. It suggested that they each carried at least one high-grade artifact, possibly even quasi-sacred items.
In comparison, Xiao Yan's own setup was a bit shabby. Most of his gear still came from the Dou Qi and Tianxuan Continents. Aside from the Heavy Xuan Ruler and the Nine Nether Divine Armor, he didn't have much he could take pride in. In future battles, this could put him at a disadvantage. That was part of why he'd come to the Dragon God Ruins—to find a proper quasi-sacred item.
Near the Sunset Mountain Range stood a small town called Sun-Moon Town. Though labeled a "town," its size was no less than a major city. Every expert drawn by the Dragon God Ruins had taken root there, turning an otherwise unremarkable settlement into a bustling hub.
Upon arriving in Sun-Moon Town, Qin Wan'er's group first found a temporary place to stay, then split up to gather information. However, this had little to do with Xiao Yan. According to Qin Wan'er, the Nine Nether Sparrow Clan had already stationed informants here, so they only needed to wait for reports.
Soon enough, Qin Wan'er returned with the gathered intelligence and shared it with the team. Most of it was ordinary and unremarkable, except for one key detail that drew everyone's attention.
"Sun-Moon Town's largest auction house will hold an auction tomorrow. Some of the items may be related to the Dragon God Ruins…"
After hearing that, everyone couldn't help but glance at Xiao Yan—clearly recalling what he'd said earlier. At first, they hadn't taken him seriously. Yet now, just as they'd arrived, the first prediction had already come true. Could it be that everything else he said—the arrogant young master picking a fight—was next?
"I'm not going to the auction," Xiao Yan said proactively after glancing at them. "I just arrived in the Great Thousand World and haven't built up much wealth. It'd be pointless for me to go—I'd just be sitting there, unable to buy anything."
Xiao Yan knew perfectly well that even if he didn't say anything, the others probably wouldn't want him to attend after his earlier "rob-and-kill" remarks. Better to save everyone the awkwardness and bow out gracefully.
"That's fine," Qin Wan'er said after a brief pause. "Do you want us to keep an eye out for anything specific? If we see it, we could try bidding on it for you. Don't worry about the cost—I'll cover it for now, and you can pay me back once the mission is over."
"Hmm… if you come across anything related to spiritual arrays, please try to get it for me," Xiao Yan replied after thinking for a moment. He didn't need much else. What he truly wanted was a quasi-sacred item or a quality cauldron, but bidding for either would be tough. As for cauldrons, these people didn't know what they were looking for, so there was no point in asking them.
"Got it," Qin Wan'er agreed easily. Given that Xiao Yan had previously set up the Demonic Lotus Array in front of her, she already assumed he was a spiritual array master.
"Also, if I'm not mistaken, this auction will definitely have some major treasure linked to the Dragon God Ruins. If that's the case, don't bid on it. Just remember who ends up winning it. That kind of item is a hot potato—the moment you grab it, you become everyone's target," Xiao Yan added seriously.
"I will," Qin Wan'er said, slightly startled by the warning. She nodded gravely in acknowledgment.
While Qin Wan'er and the others prepared for the auction, Xiao Yan quietly left the residence alone. He couldn't attend such a high-end event in his current state, but Sun-Moon Town also had plenty of small-time vendors and street stalls. Those he could afford—and perhaps, if luck was on his side, he might find something valuable among them.
Thanks to the looming opening of the Dragon God Ruins, the street stalls were bustling with customers. Clearly, Xiao Yan wasn't the only one hoping for a lucky find. Most people left disappointed, but a few truly did strike gold. The vendors, on the other hand, were making a killing with their sales.
Xiao Yan's eyes swept over the stalls. The vendors were all clever, clearly aware that most visitors were here for the ruins. So they displayed worn, ancient-looking items—things that wouldn't sell anywhere else, but here could be perceived as clues or relics related to the Dragon God Ruins.
Driven by curiosity, Xiao Yan asked a few vendors for their prices. None of the items were too expensive—usually just a few thousand drops of Sovereign Spiritual Liquid. Compared to the cost of a real treasure, this was pocket change. And that was exactly the psychology these vendors exploited: pay a little, and you might hit the jackpot. That temptation was enough to keep customers coming.
What surprised Xiao Yan, though, was that some vendors were actually selling divine techniques and other legitimate items. When he asked, he learned these were individuals who had run out of Sovereign Spiritual Liquid and set up makeshift stalls to raise funds for their own treasure-hunting efforts.
Xiao Yan couldn't help but shake his head. Still, this situation worked in his favor. Compared to piles of useless junk, he'd much rather examine these more practical items.
