It had been three days since that incident.
Kaelith remained in the castle, sharing meals with her son, spending time with him, and making up for the years they had lost.
These days have been the happiest for her. Hunting trips with him were thrilling, yes, but this was different. This was quieter, warmer. She was finally beginning to understand what it felt like to be a mother. And she liked it—loved it, even—though her maid often reminded her that her behavior wasn't always what people expected from a mother toward her son.
"Will they wake up today?" Kaelith asked as she neatly arranged the files on her desk, a small smile tugging at her lips. She had a meeting later in the evening with the council ministers, each ruling different territories. The thought made her sigh.
A conference. Ugh.
Avalin, who had been standing silently in the corner, finally spoke. "Yes, my lady. According to the reports, the two young ladies should wake up any time now."
