An ancient artifact, whose origin was unknown, yet whose power was known everywhere.
It was something that had first appeared with the First Elven Empress, and after her disappearance, this object, no different from an imperial relic, had remained in the most protected vaults of the Empire.
No one knew why, but none of the empresses who came after had ever been able to wield the relic. Eventually, it was sealed away, kept safe for its historical and symbolic significance.
Of course, it had been mentioned in many legends, and was known as one of the most distinctive traits of the First Elven Empress.
Therefore, people knew of it and were aware that such an object existed somewhere in the Empire.
It was known that the relic rejected all who sought to claim it after the first Empress, and that those who stubbornly tried to wear it anyway paid with their lives.
