Chapter 2 - chapter 2:Campus

He went to the curtains, opening them, wincing as the sunlight harmed his eyes. He looked at the time; it was 8 o'clock. Seemed he had pulled an all-nighter once again. He walked around the room looking for any food that was left over like a scavenger. But he had found no luck in that. Guess it's time to get dressed, he thought.

He walked to a pile of clothes, taking a pair of shirts, bringing them to his nose for the smell test. He settled on a plain blue shirt that didn't smell good, but was much better than the rest. He put on a pair of grey sweatpants that had the fewest stains. He didn't bother to freshen up, for he had no one to impress.

He opened his phone to see notifications flooding in, mostly missed calls and messages from his sister. And emails about unpaid bills are coming in a close second. He didn't bother to open the messages, already knowing the content of the messages. He didn't hold anything against his sister, but he couldn't deal with her now.

He and his sister had been orphaned by their parents in a car crash that had killed both of them, but left the two siblings alive. Sometimes he wished he had died in that crash. Ever since his sister had taken the role of guardian, protecting and providing for his every need, they couldn't rely on their relatives because as soon as they had learned of the accident, they had swarmed to annex the cash the parents had left, leaving only enough for the siblings to finish university. Both siblings had reacted differently to their parents' passing. His older sister, Anissa, had resorted to working as hard as she could. Now she had secured a job in one of the largest law firms in the country, meanwhile he was barely passing his university.

He put his phone away, and walked out of the room. It was quite a walk from his place of residence to the university. He took his Air Pods out and played his music as he began to walk. He hunched over as standing up straight hurt his back, a consequence of living behind a screen most of his life. It was a warm morning, with people rushing by going to their places of work.

He went and stood by a bus stop, aiming to catch the bus, saving him the need to walk to campus. After a while, it arrived, he boarded it, and unlucky for him, it was full of students from his campus. He frowned. He walked along the bus looking for an empty seat. Multiple people held their noses as he passed by, and they immediately began talking about him behind his back. But he couldn't care less. He found an empty seat at the far back of the bus, and he sat in it. Closing his eyes.

The bus stopped at the entrance of his campus as he alighted. As he began making way to his class, he was taking a law course just like his sister, but in all truth, he despised it. If it wasn't for his sister's insistence, he would have dropped out long ago, probably resorting to streaming as he had made quite a bit of money streaming APOCALYPSE.

Just the thought of the game made his mood sour; he didn't know what to do now; he had completed the game, and truth be told, he didn't have any interest in any other game.

Slowly but surely the lecture hall began to fill up with students, each scouring the place looking for a place to sit, all of them giving him a look of disgust as they went and sat as far as possible for him, once again he didn't give a fuck about them, he was just here to fill in his attendance so he dosen't get kicked out.

Just then a group of rowdy boys entered the class, laughing their asses of. Hearing their laugh, Ethan's mood soured even further. He opened his eyes, hoping it wasn't those four, but his luck had run out as it was just those four. They filled the typical high-school bully trope, muscular meathead, wearing jock jerseys, with ripped jeans. They usually never came, but of course, they came the one time he came to class. They weren't even part of this course; they just came to hit on the girls in the class, as everyone knew that the Law course had the hottest girls as well as the campus belle. Eve.

They all began looking around, their eyes landing on him as they signaled each other as they began making their way to him. FUCK ME, he thought.
