đ Scene 1: Halftime Shadows
The locker room buzzed with adrenaline. Sakuragi was still bouncing.
"TWO DUNKS, BABY!! I'M A STAR!!"
Miyagi: "Yeah, yeah, we saw."
As the others rehydrated and rested, I slipped away for a breather.
Outside the gym, the breeze was coolâand Haruko was sitting on a bench, sipping juice.
"You were amazing," she said softly.
I chuckled. "That was all Sakuragi."
She shook her head. "No... that pass, that moveâit felt like you knew something others didn't. Like... you've seen it all before."
My heart stuttered. She was closer to the truth than she realized.
I sat beside her. "If I told you I used to know someone like Rukawa, someone like Minami⌠would you believe me?"
She looked at me.
"I'd believe anything⌠if it came from you."
Silence.
Then Rukawa opened the door and squinted. "Get inside. Coach wants a word."
Moment gone.
𧢠Scene 2: The Coach's Suspicion
Coach Anzai didn't speak at first. Just stared at me for a long moment.
Then he said:
"You're not just a student, are you, Kudo?"
I froze.
"That move you usedâThe Ghost Step. That was Akira Sanada's. And only one other person ever did it: his brother."
My jaw clenched.
Coach smiled gently.
"I coached against Akira. I recognized the rhythm.
And I'm beginning to recognize you, too."
He paused.
"I won't force you to explain. But⌠if you've been given a second chanceâmake it count."
I nodded, my throat tight.
đ Scene 3: The Second Half â Checkmate Begins
Back on the court, Shohoku was high on momentum. Crowd buzzing.
Then they appeared.
Fukuda High sent in their new sub: a tall, lean, ice-eyed forward named Reiji Oda.
Minami looked nervous. That scared me more than Reiji's 6'5" frame.
Sakuragi: "Who's the weird giraffe?"
Rukawa: "Trouble."
First play?
Reiji blocked Rukawa's jumper. With one finger.
Next? He stole from Miyagi mid-dribble.
Thenâhe stared straight at me.
Reiji: "Let's see if the ghost boy can handle a real exorcist."
đ Final Thoughts
The second half had started.
But this wasn't just basketball anymore.
It was revelation.
It was revenge.
It was rebirth.
And as I tightened my shoelaces, one thought burned:
Akira faced monsters like this alone.
But I have a team.
And I won't lose again.
