A metallic, rattling sound crawled on the walls of the Cell as the massive Spider-drone, carrying an automatic rifle under its head, tore the reinforced bars apart.
The drone's eight eyes let out a red glow, locking on to the only mobile target.
It was programmed to put a syringe into anything that dared to move in its sensors' range, regardless of the nature of that thing. Guards. Animals. Villains. Heroes. Everything was a target for the drones.
That's why these drones were only released after the activation of the Spatial Barrier.
Because if it had come to that, forcing the Warden to lock the space, it meant the Hero Contingent stationed at the Detention Center was already useless against the threat.
At first, there were dozens of these Spider drones in the corridor outside.
Because one drone was huge enough to occupy the entire Cell's front side, no other drones had stayed back to corner the already pitiful target.
However, there were still four drones remaining in the vast corridor outside.
As soon as the Spider drone aiming at Luke inside the cell broke through the bars, it triggered the motion sensors of all the drones. With a logic-defying agility, they raced toward Dr. Sam's Cell, determined to put the target down.
Lifting Mr. Fool's Blessing, the Judge Button in his hand, Luke's pupils shook as he saw four more drones running toward him.
Bang!
The syringe left the rifle with a cyan glow.
Simultaneously, Luke chanted the word in Jotun. "Confinement!"
The blurry Judge Button let out a golden glow, a wave of Spirituality spreading out from it, becoming an invisible dome, keeping Luke, Nyx, and Sam within it.
With a tink, the syringe landed on the dome and fell.
[%&%#] The Spider drone went haywire.
Bangs after bangs rang out as it fired more bullets, but all fell, ricocheting off an invisible wall. Soon, the four drones also arrived and began firing at Luke, all the syringes meeting the same fate.
As the Spider drone nearest to the invisible dome emptied its bullets, all drones stopped firing, as if it had relayed its strange findings to them.
Then, lifting two of its massive legs, it began bombarding the invisible wall.
Within the dome, Luke let out a sigh, sweat dripping from his chin. Even if the threat of the drones had diminished temporarily, the increased gravity was still hounding him, demanding his constant efforts.
This needed to be dealt with as well.
So, once more pouring his Spirit Points into the Judge Button, Luke said, "This place Prohibits Gravity!"
A strange hum spread out from the Judge Button that only Luke felt.
Activating his Spirit Vision, Luke saw a wave of Spirituality washing over in 10 meters in his surroundings… even going out of the Confinement Zone and covering the nearest Spider drone.
Instantly, all the heaviness that Luke had been feeling for the last few minutes died.
At the same moment that gravity became zero in this Prohibited Zone, the Spider Drone once again banged its legs on the invisible wall.
With a massive boom, the Spider drone was thrown back because of the lack of gravity, and it slammed into the other four drones, making them all stumble back.
So the Confinement Zone is a 5-meter sphere with the Judge Button as the center, Luke noticed, letting out a relaxed breath. And the Prohibition Zone is a 10-meter one. This is… broken…
What if he said he Prohibits oxygen?!
What if he said he Prohibits thoughts?!!
[Think of possibilities later, Mr. Scientist!] Miss Justice roared in his mind. [Hurry and do something about your situation. I am getting worried about you… I don't think this Confinement and Prohibition will last even half a minute…]
Luke nodded, levitating a few inches above the ground.
He could theoretically again use Confinement and Prohibition, but that would only consume Judge Button's limited uses. Now, he had three uses remaining, which already seemed insanely few, given how vast the Sealed Artifact's powers were.
So, Luke buried his curiosity regarding Judge Button and Justiciar Pathway and put the Sealed Artifact away.
Then came the time to face the most troubling question.
What to do now?!!
Nyx was still out cold. Even if he woke her up somehow, Luke wasn't sure how potent the Quirk Suppression Drug was. At least, he wouldn't be able to stir Quirk Factors within her for a few hours. So, bestowing any Quirk upon her would be useless.
And Bioalchemy didn't work without a lifeform.
Luke had always known that his MOST AWESOME QUIRK, as per his father and Blue Site's scientists, held the GREATEST WEAKNESS.
But in his previous life, he had never come across the effect of this weakness.
Now, in this life, it was like he was coming across this monstrosity every once in a while.
Licking his lips and once again sweating, Luke reached into one of his deep pockets and took out a large glass cylinder.
The glass cylinder was an airtight chamber, holding two large mushrooms.
One of the two mushrooms had gained a blackish tinge, oozing pus.
The other mushroom still held a bright, white and gray color.
Bioalchemy didn't work on animals smaller than a rodent or lizard or large worms.
As Luke needed something inconspicuous to bring down the first wave of drones in the Outer Zone, something that wouldn't raise eyebrows, like a mutated animal, he had brought these mushrooms. Because with one look at a small mutated creature, the Blue Site's guys would relate it to Luke instantly.
Strangely,Bioalchemy had no cap for plant-based lifeforms — only limited by the severity of the mutations.
He had brought two just in case the first one didn't work as intended.
Now, he had no choice but to use the second one as well — for something this mushroom was not capable of accomplishing.
Its own Spirit Points are low… Luke contemplated, seeing all the Spider drones rushing at him. It will die with only one High Complexity Quirk, like the Short-Circuiting Spores in the case of the first one. I will have to…Dammit! I swore to myself I would not do that again…
[… Sigh! Do it, Luke.]
Shaking his head, Luke touched the mushroom and bestowed the first Quirk — Intelligence.
