The next day at the KSI research campus, a woman who seemed to be carved from cool, professional glass found Snow Jacob in his laboratory. She wore an immaculate business suit by a designer whose name was whispered with reverence in circles of power, and her burgundy, wavy hair and attractive red lips gave her an aura of sophisticated, no-nonsense sex appeal. She was a weapon in her own right.

"Mr. Jacob," she began, her voice smooth and confident as she entered his currently small lab, a space of organized chaos filled with half-finished prototypes and complex schematics. "Good news. Your project application has been approved." She held out a folder. "I am Birel Sheila. I have been assigned as your new personal assistant and corporate liaison. You can come to me if you need anything."

Aidan—as Snow Jacob—carefully set down the complex data chip he was examining, the part of the eccentric genius he was playing never slipping. He stood and shook her hand, her grip firm and brief. "A pleasure, Ms. Sheila."

"Then do I continue my research in this space?" he asked, gesturing around the cramped lab.

"For now," she confirmed. "But your request for an expanded laboratory, including a dedicated, hardened firing range for live-fire testing, has also been approved. Construction will begin immediately." She gave him a knowing smile. "The boss, Mr. Joyce, also asked me to pass on a message. He said that if your research is successful, he will give you a much bigger, more important project to lead."

"Okay," Aidan said, his eyebrows raising in feigned curiosity. "I'm looking forward to it."

After she left, Aidan took out his computer and began to re-plan the laboratory layout. The next two months were a blur of construction and procurement. The lab expanded dramatically, and with his generous new budget, he was able to buy most of the instruments he needed. Those that didn't meet his exacting requirements, he simply built himself.

Finally, the new laboratory was complete. In a new, sealed, lead-lined research chamber, Aidan stood alone. With a gesture, the AllSpark appeared out of thin air and floated into his hands. After his time in Kamar-Taj, he had learned enough about the principles of spatial manipulation to create a small, stable pocket dimension linked to his own life force—a mini-version of the Mirror Dimension, perfect for storing sensitive items. Magic, he had to admit, was far more convenient than technology sometimes.

With his new lab built, Aidan began his true work. His days were a performance for KSI. He made just enough progress on the "biological coat" project to keep Joshua Joyce interested and the funding flowing limitlessly. He would occasionally invent a new, unusually sensitive sensor or a revolutionary piece of biomechanical hardware, all of which KSI immediately patented and sold for immense profit, further solidifying Snow Jacob's value to the company.

But his nights were dedicated to his own grand ambitions. He would sit before the AllSpark, its surface covered in a language of shifting, geometric runes. It was more than just a power source; it was the sacred object of Cybertron, a library containing the entirety of their civilization's knowledge. He also studied the other Cybertronian technology from his memory—the Space Bridge, a device that could teleport entire planets. It made his own portal research seem like a child's toy. His ultimate goal was to create a bio-robotic suit using the principles of the AllSpark itself.

Simultaneously, his soul would leave his body. In his astral form, he would soar through the halls of the Kamar-Taj library, devouring every text, every scroll, his mind a ravenous sponge for mystical knowledge.

Two years passed in this flash of intense, parallel study.

On Earth, in a desolate, abandoned factory complex near Chernobyl, the air was heavy with the taste of radiation and forgotten tragedy. The overgrown plants were unnaturally vibrant, their leaves a sickly green, feeding on the poisoned earth. Today, this ghost town was extraordinarily lively.

One after another, armed helicopters landed, deploying squads of elite special forces. They moved with professional silence through the ruins, their firearms at the ready. A black GMC TopKick pickup truck rumbled to a stop.

"Ironhide, get to Area E," a soldier in NEST armor said, patting the truck's hood.

The black pickup began to transform. With a symphony of shifting plates, whirring gears, and clicking hydraulics, a massive, humanoid robot appeared, a band of ammunition hanging from one arm, a yellow energy cannon spinning up on the other.

"I smell it," Ironhide's deep, rough voice boomed, sniffing the air. "He's here."

Nearly a hundred soldiers now fanned out, some of them starting to sweep the warehouses with advanced detectors. But the strange thing was the company they kept. Pacing silently alongside the soldiers were bizarre mechanical creatures. One was a lean, metallic tiger, its chrome chassis glinting in the faint light. Another was a robotic cat. A third was a serpent-like drone that slithered through the rubble. Their origins were unknown, their purpose a mystery.

Following an order, the soldiers began walking towards a powerful energy source, their guns held ready. "Be vigilant, it's ahead!" the inspector said into his headset.

At this time, a team of soldiers was approaching a massive, circular piece of hollow building material. Just as they drew near, the hulking, rusted excavator hidden behind the building materials suddenly began to deform. With a deafening grinding of metal, it erupted from its hiding place, revealing a monstrous Cybertronian beneath. The Decepticon's transformation completed in an instant, and its two massive fists smashed down at the soldiers' position.

BANG! The ground erupted in a shower of earth and debris, completely covering the soldiers in front.

But at that exact moment, a sleek silver figure shot through the cloud of dust, moving against the force of the impact, and climbed up the Decepticon's massive arm with impossible speed.

"Janice, we're going in!" a young man's voice muttered from inside the silver armor.

"No problem, boss!" a cheerful, mechanical girl's voice replied from inside the suit. "But when we get back, you have to get me some better quality oil."

"After we solve this big guy, I'll get it for you," the young man replied.

As he spoke, several other armored figures appeared from the dust behind him. They all stood together, facing the giant Decepticon.

"It's showtime!"
