After finally breaking free from the swarm of chattering ladies, Aidan barely caught his breath before Volstagg's massive arm hooked around his neck like a vice. The bearded giant hauled him toward a rowdy table of burly Asgardians, all roaring laughs and clinking mugs. "Come meet the lads!" Volstagg boomed, introducing Aidan like he was showing off a trophy. Aidan rolled his eyes, trapped in the bear hug. Great, now I'm stuck here... I just wanna crash and think.

The banquet raged on, and Aidan bounced around the hall, getting slapped on the back and greeted with thunderous cheers from everyone. That's when he spotted a lone figure sprawled on a stone ledge away from the chaos—out of sync with the wild energy. Looked like Thor, lost in thought.

Curiosity pulling him, Aidan wandered over. Thor was staring at a small black box—the camera—lost in whatever storm brewed in his head.

"Still haven't cracked it open?" Aidan asked, sliding up beside him.

Thor glanced up, a faint smile cracking his face. "Thank you for the gift. How is she doing over there?"

"She's good—still buried in her star-gazing research. The pics should have the rest," Aidan said, nodding at the camera.

"I want to see her too, but with the Bridge destroyed and the Nine Realms in turmoil, I don't have the time to go to Midgard," Thor sighed, frustration etching his brow.

"Once my Space Bridge is up and running, you'll have the window to jet over," Aidan suggested, leaning against the stone.

"Then you must hurry. As soon as the wars in the Nine Realms settle, I'll go to her immediately," Thor said, eyes lighting up. But underneath, a flicker of worry—he dreaded getting too attached, too tangled to leave.

"Speaking of... your dad doesn't seem thrilled about you and a human," Aidan whispered, shooting a sly, gossipy grin.

Thor blinked in surprise. "How do you know?"

"He barely glances your way," Aidan said, flicking a look at Odin across the hall.

"Yes, but this is my choice. It has nothing to do with him," Thor shrugged, defiant.

"I get it—humans don't last long. Compared to your thousand-year runs, we're a blink," Aidan said, shaking his head.

"I'll find a way to extend her life," Thor vowed, then fixed Aidan with a piercing stare.

"...What?" Aidan asked, thrown by the intensity.

"Do you have any way to prolong a human's lifespan? Your Midgard technology might hold the answer," Thor pressed, hope sparking.

"Uh... I'm just thirteen, man. Haven't even thought about it yet," Aidan said, chuckling. Immortality? I've got decades before I worry about that. "And honestly? Eternal life sounds boring. You'd lose the thrill, end up stuck in a rut without the guts to end it."

"If you discover a way, you must tell me right away."

"You got it."

Banquet wrapped, and Aidan tagged along with Fandral's invite, heading out of the palace toward a sleek castle nearby.

"This is my home. You can stay here for now. Volstagg's place is a disaster, and his snoring could shake the foundations," Fandral quipped, jabbing at his buddy as he pointed to the fairy-tale structure ahead.

The place screamed storybook magic: silver-white walls ringed by a metal fence, gleaming gold under the moonlight. Gothic spires stabbed the sky, arches sharp as blades, carvings swirling with intricate designs. A vibrant rose window glowed at the entrance like a portal to another world.

Fandral shoved the door open, leading through a dim corridor to a grand hall. Nude art paintings lined the walls, a glassed-in fireplace crackling warmly up front. They climbed stairs to the upper level.

"You can rest here," Fandral said, swinging open a bedroom door. Moonlight poured in through the window, bathing the simple setup in silver glow—bed, furniture, all clean and inviting. Lights flicked on, chasing shadows.

"Love it—thanks," Aidan said, genuinely stoked.

"I'm glad. If you want to learn swordplay from me, I'd be happy to teach you—just be ready at dawn every day," Fandral grinned.

"We'll see. Magic lessons and Space Bridge builds—time's gonna be tight."

"No problem. Come find me whenever you're free."

"Deal."

"Good night, my friend."

"You too..."

Fandral dipped out, and Aidan lingered at the window, staring at the full moon hanging like a watchful eye. Finally, he crashed onto the bed, out like a light.

Dawn cracked, sun blasting through the window. Aidan hopped up, hit the shower—steaming water washing away the night's haze—then linked up with Fandral for the trek to Asgard's center. At the gates, they bumped fists, splitting ways: Fandral to the training grounds for sword drills, Aidan to the Magic Hall for spell-slinging.

Guards guided him to a understated palace—inside, it felt like a shadowy old castle, mysterious vibes humming in the air. Gray-robed apprentices chatted in clusters on benches, a mix of eager faces. Up front, Frigga rocked a yellow robe like the Ancient One's, book in hand, poised on the podium.

Aidan pushed through the door, and heads swiveled his way.

"Am I late?" he asked, freezing mid-step.

"No, you have ten minutes. Find a seat," Frigga said with a warm smile, waving him in.

"Cool," Aidan nodded, snagging a spot near the front. He settled in, glancing around—and realized it was all ladies. No dudes in sight. Asgardians were built tough, favoring tech-infused melee brawls over spells. Magic drew the less brawny or the curious types—mostly women hitting the books while guys hammered it out on the fields. Not complaining... this works!

Class kicked off sharp. Frigga dove in, easing Aidan with an overview of Asgardian magic. He leaned forward, soaking it up like the others. No Kamar-Taj fist-fights or energy blasts here—it was about connecting with magic elements through focus, chanting spells to channel cosmic energy, or enchanting weapons. Plus, mental tricks for creating illusions that could deceive anyone. The room buzzed with quiet intensity, spells whispering possibilities in the air.
