Uru metal—also known simply as Uru—was a special material native to Nidavellir. In its raw form, it looked like ordinary stone, unremarkable and inert. But appearances were deceiving. Uru could store massive amounts of energy, especially magical energy. When properly enchanted, it became exceptionally sturdy and durable, approaching indestructibility.

It was notoriously difficult to forge. The metal required extreme methods—the core of a neutron star, or powerful magic capable of generating equivalent heat and pressure. Nothing less would suffice.

Most of Asgard's legendary weapons were forged from Uru after Nidavellir received Odin's blessing. Gungnir—Odin's spear. Hofund—Heimdall's sword. Mjolnir—Thor's hammer. All Uru. All legendary.

There was a symbiotic relationship between Uru weapons and their wielders. Mjolnir, for instance, could channel and amplify Thor's innate power, acting as both conduit and multiplier.

"I can trade the Stellar Energy Harvesting Device technology for Uru metal manufacturing knowledge," Aidan said after considering his options.

"How does it work?" Eitri asked, curious despite his skepticism.

"The device absorbs stellar energy and produces Energy Crystals." Aidan set down his tableware, explaining carefully. "These crystals can transform metal into living organisms. Essentially, it gives metal life."

"Living metal? Truly?" Eitri frowned, skeptical.

"Absolutely."

"What are its characteristics?"

"I think giving life to metal is enough on its own," Aidan smiled. "But the transformed mechanical life forms can self-repair, create their own weapons, and possess high-level intelligence. Autonomous, adaptive, evolving."

Eitri didn't respond immediately. He chewed his barbecue thoughtfully, considering the implications. Creating life from metal—that wasn't just advanced engineering, that was something closer to divinity. Blasphemy, some might call it. Genius, others would say.

When Capes came over to chase them out—closing time—he finally emerged from his thoughts. "I'll consider it," he said, not committing.

"No problem. I'm making my battlesuit first anyway. Once you see the results, you can decide." Aidan stood, nodding. No need to rush. Let the work speak for itself.

Initially, he'd considered offering molecular weapon technology, but that wasn't equivalent value. The Stellar Energy Harvesting Device—reverse-engineered from AllSpark principles—was a fair trade for Uru metallurgy secrets.

When Uru was first discovered, dwarves had considered it worthless scrap. Too hard to work, impossible to forge with conventional methods. But the dwarves had developed unique techniques, leveraging the neutron star's energy, transforming worthless stone into the most powerful magical conductor in the universe.

After eating and resting another day, Aidan prepared to begin smelting the Destroyer. On the second morning, he followed Eitri toward the core neutron star, the Destroyer's battered chassis floating behind him via levitation magic.

"Is it appropriate to ask who destroyed the Destroyer?" Eitri glanced back at the ruined armor, curiosity evident. "You know, we specifically made that for Odin. Seeing it destroyed is... concerning."

"It wasn't destroyed in battle. Thor smashed it with Mjolnir."

"Thor? You said the Destroyer was destroyed by Mjolnir? Why would he do that?" Eitri sounded genuinely shocked. What a waste.

"Family business. Odin was willing to sacrifice a legendary battlesuit to teach Thor a lesson." Aidan shrugged helplessly. Rich people were so arrogant. He'd never be willing to throw away something like the Destroyer so casually. Even Adamantium was rare for him—he only had that small shield. Vibranium he hadn't even seen yet.

Meanwhile, Odin casually threw Gungnir around like a javelin and picked it up afterward.

"God, I'm poor," Aidan sighed.

First, Iron Man's casual billionaire extravagance had made him feel inadequate. Just when he'd gotten over that, the Odin family's divine wealth reminded him he was still broke by cosmic standards.

Maybe he should become a Ravager. That seemed like a viable career path for acquiring resources...

"You're poor? Would you like some Uru metal?" Eitri seemed to catch the sigh, asking sincerely.

Aidan's eyes lit up immediately. "Really? You're incredibly generous!"

Eitri paused. He'd planned to give a little—just a token amount—but looking at Aidan's genuinely grateful expression, "a little" suddenly seemed embarrassingly stingy. "As a guest of Nidavellir, take what you need. It's just Uru metal." His mood was slightly complicated, but his generous heart won out.

Following their conversation, they gradually approached the forging room closest to the core. Aidan had already donned his armor, shielding himself from the extreme heat.

"This is my personal forge," Eitri said, leading the way. "Many legendary weapons were created here. The temperature isn't something ordinary dwarves can withstand."

Upon entering, Aidan immediately spotted a crimson furnace through his visor. The structure was square and upright—like a massive carriage, about four meters high and two meters wide. No visible flames, no blinding light. Just crimson emptiness, radiating heat that would vaporize unprotected flesh instantly.

That void was where temperature peaked. Without his armor, Aidan would've combusted upon entry.

"That is the furnace. The only forge that can melt Uru metal."

Eitri gestured casually, completely comfortable in the hellish environment. "There's also the Eternal Flame that can melt Uru. I believe it's currently in Lord Odin's treasure vault."

"Understood. I'm ready to begin. Same rule as before—no interruptions," Aidan said. His modified World-Forger's Maul materialized in his hand, glowing with readiness.

"I'll arrange security. But we'll smelt together when the additional Uru metal arrives."

"Perfect. I'll prepare materials now. Planning to start today."

Many materials required organization. Primary components: Bio-metal, Uru metal, and the Space Stone (still contained in the Tesseract). He also planned to forge weapons powered by Space Stone energy—spatial manipulation built directly into the armaments.

After Eitri's promised Uru metal arrived, Aidan began the smelting process.

Having just announced the end of one retreat, Aidan immediately announced another forging retreat. The materials were prepared and stored in his pocket dimension, eliminating transportation concerns.

Time to work.
