The war was later known as The Rebellion of the Two Captains, and the territories of Sacred Freedom and Endless were absorbed into the Black Rose forces.
This proved the undeniable might of Black Rose and it was declared an asset to the people of Eldoria. Lilith's strength impressed the king to the point that he considered granting Lilith Faust the title of one of the Fifteen Grand Knights—heroes who appeared in the kingdom's times of great misery and saved the nation countless times.
According to Article 1 of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Eldoria, for a citizen to go against the will of a Grand Knight is to commit treason itself.
All those blessed with the title of Grand Knight hold the authority of declared judgment in court regardless of circumstances.
One bearing the title of Grand Knight reigns supreme and is considered the most important person in the nation—above all others.
However, to be bestowed with the title, there is a condition: all active Grand Knights must agree on the decision, and it must be approved by the Grandmaster.
Only then can a vice‑captain or captain be granted the title. Unfortunately, since these conditions were not fulfilled, Lilith was not bestowed the title.
In the days that followed, the bond between Liebe and Lilith continued to plummet.
One day, while Gelda and Lilith were talking in the garden, Liebe went off to play.
Liebe began to annoy Lilith, and unable to control herself, Lilith ended up harming Liebe as she gently tried to push him away.
Because of the scratch from her nails, a scar formed across Liebe's face.
"Watch it, Lilith. Go get first aid—and be more careful!" Gelda said.
Lilith replied softly, "On it."
"There, there, little lord. Are you okay?" Gelda asked.
Liebe said, "I'm okay… please tell Mommy it wasn't her fault."
Lilith returned with the first aid kit.
"I'll be in my room," Lilith said quietly.
"Got it," Gelda replied, then cleaned the wound with cotton and antiseptic.
Liebe winced but smiled. "All better."
"Please be more careful, little lord," Gelda said.
"Now that I'm all better, it's time to go annoy Mommy again," Liebe said.
"Wait, little lord—it's probably for the best if you give Mommy a little space right now," Gelda advised.
"Okay… then I'll just wait for Mommy outside the door," Liebe said.
"That's good," Gelda replied.
Liebe and Gelda waited by the door. An hour passed, then another. Eventually, the sun set, and before they knew it, it was midnight.
"Gelda, can you please get some donuts? Mommy loves those. She hasn't eaten all day, and I want to get her something to eat," Liebe said.
"But young lord, you also haven't eaten anything," Gelda reminded him.
"Okay… I'll eat them with Mommy," Liebe answered.
"Understood," Gelda said.
When Gelda brought the donuts, Liebe knocked on the door.
"Mommy, are you there? I brought some of your favorite donuts."
"Please… just go away," Lilith replied faintly.
"Mommy, I'm coming in," Liebe said.
As he entered, the room was covered in darkness.
"Mommy, I brought your favorite donuts. This one is chocolate… and so is this one… and this one too. Take one, okay? Then I'll take the first one."
After eating one donut, Liebe said, "Mommy, these are yummy—take one."
Lilith picked up a donut, but as she looked at it, memories of Domr's death and how she had killed Tenebris overwhelmed her. She imagined her hands covered in blood. Overcome with anguish, she threw the plate.
The plate crashed into the wall and shattered. In the process, shards struck Liebe, cutting his shoulder and grazing his throat. Bleeding, Liebe left the room.
Upon seeing him, Gelda gasped. "Young lord, are you okay? What was that sound?"
"It was nothing… I dropped the plate by mistake and the glass hurt me," Liebe said quietly.
Seeing the deep cut, Gelda said urgently, "Lord, please let me call a doctor."
When the doctor arrived, he carefully bandaged Liebe's wounds.
