Chapter 58 - The True Beast

Liebe said, "Elizabeth, let's go."

Elizabeth said, "Where? Shouldn't we just wait for the second one?"

Liebe said, "The aqua fins are highly intelligent predators. If they sense the blood of one of their own in the water, they avoid it—despite the fact they hunt in schools."

Elizabeth said, "But where?"

Liebe said, "Wait."

Elizabeth said, "For what?"

Liebe said nothing as he created slashes in the air again. He said, "Dark Magic: Ripple Slash!"

The flying slashes turned into dots that pierced through the second aqua fin.

Elizabeth said, "Two down, two to go."

Liebe said, "Take that one too. I'll look for the third."

Elizabeth took the second one to the Shadow Realm as well.

Liebe said, "Got the coordinates."

Elizabeth said, "What? So soon?"

Liebe said, "The aqua fins have high intelligence, remember? They are capable of simplistic emotions, and since I can detect such emotions, detecting bloodlust wasn't so hard."

Now, as the third one tried to swim away, Liebe said, "You will not escape. Dark Magic: Dark Thrust!"

He used his swords to cut the aqua fin vertically, and the fish died quickly.

Liebe said, "Elizabeth, take it. Time for the fourth."

Elizabeth said, "Got it."

Liebe said, "Make sure to be quick."

Elizabeth said, "Got it."

Liebe said, "Dark Magic: Summon Dark Shark!"

Black sharks emerged from the water.

Liebe said, "Sharks, find one."

The sharks quickly located another target.

Liebe said, "Got it. Now—Dark Magic: Dark Blade Storm!"

He struck, and countless dark blades pierced the aqua fin as it was trying to escape.

Liebe said, "Finally got the fourth. Take it."

As Elizabeth took the fourth, Liebe said, "Most of it is done. But now… time for the last one."

Elizabeth said, "Now tell me—what exactly is this fifth one you wanted to hunt so much?"

Liebe said, "It's called a Voryth."

Elizabeth said, "But… how and why? They're venomous, they have tentacles, claws, and spikes! How will you kill one? And they're more than fifty meters tall—and they're the ones who made the aqua fins endangered!"

Liebe said, "They have lobster, crab, and squid meat—perfect for Mother. So help me if you want."

Elizabeth said, "Always."

Liebe said, "Let's go. We need to move about 250 km from the beach. That should be deep enough to find one, since they're the reason the aqua fins migrated to shallower waters."

After moving to the ideal position, Elizabeth said, "What now? The dark drop again?"

Liebe said, "The Voryth aren't like the aqua fins. They know a challenge when they see one."

Elizabeth said, "So what now?"

Liebe said, "Firstly… bait."

He used one of his swords to create a small cut on his hand, letting his blood flow into the water.

Liebe said, "This should get its attention."

Elizabeth said, "What? What will a few millimeters of blood do? It's supposed to be a giant!"

Liebe said, "It just needs a little encouragement. Now—Dark Magic: Dark Malice Roar!"

The roar was deafening, echoing through the ocean.

Elizabeth said, "Well, that was all for nothing—"

And suddenly, a huge scream came from under the water. It felt as if the ocean itself was shifting.

Elizabeth said, "Oh, crud!"

Giant tentacles shot up, catching them both, dragging them underwater. They began to lose oxygen, and Elizabeth almost lost consciousness.

Liebe said, "Dark Magic: Gradient Slash!"

He sliced through the tentacles to free himself and Elizabeth.

After swimming to the surface, Liebe said, "Elizabeth! Wake up!"

Elizabeth opened her eyes weakly.

Liebe said, "What's wrong?"

Looking at her, he saw her skin turning a slight shade of purple.

Liebe said, "The venomous spikes must have got her… well, only one thing to do."

He flew high, rising above—out of range of the monster.
