Chapter 62 - Stay

Hailee's POV

We both lay on my bed, and Nathan pulled me close until my head rested on his chest, his arm wrapped securely around me.

I closed my eyes, breathing in the intoxicating scent of him. There was something comforting and familiar about it.

A peaceful silence settled between us until Nathan finally spoke.

"I heard what happened at the hospital... I'm sorry about that," he said quietly.

I nodded but didn't say a word. I didn't trust my voice to come out right.

Nathan sighed deeply and pressed a soft kiss on the top of my head.

"I think it's time for me to leave," he said gently.

My heart dropped.

I instantly frowned, not wanting him to go. I was so comfortable in his arms. Safe. But how could I tell him that? How could I say it without sounding desperate or pathetic?

Feeling disappointed, I slowly pulled away and sat up on the bed.

He gave me a weak smile before standing to his feet.
