Just admiring the view," he replied, his gaze sweeping over me. "And, well, I heard the former foundress was back. Couldn't resist the opportunity to say hello."
I raised an eyebrow, "Is that so?"
"Mmhmm," he confirmed, leaning closer. "Word on the street is you're tougher than you look. I like a challenge."
A surge of annoyance mixed with something else, something I couldn't quite place. "Don't flatter yourself, Klenthio. I'm not a challenge, and I'm certainly not interested in your games."
He chuckled again, a low rumble in his chest. "Games? I assure you, Elle, this is no game. I'm just being honest."
"Honest about what? Breaking hearts?"
"Maybe," he admitted with a shrug. "But I'm willing to try something different, if you are."
Before I could respond, a group of students approached us. "Zelle! We need your help with the upcoming event!" one of them exclaimed.
"Of course," I said, relieved for the interruption. "Klenthio, it was... interesting talking to you."
"The pleasure was all mine, Elle," he said, his eyes still sparkling with amusement. "I'll be seeing you around."
As I walked away, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning. Klenthio's words lingered in my mind, and despite my best efforts, I couldn't deny the undeniable spark between us.
