_______________________________________________________________________

For the next two days, Lucas focused entirely on grinding Level 20 nightmare dungeons. With efficiency honed from countless battles, he cleared every dungeon available, hitting the daily limit of three runs in each. His luck had clearly not run dry—during one of his solo clears, he discovered another rare blue-quality equipment drop, and it turned out to be a weapon.

Unfortunately, it was a long sword, which didn't match his assassin class. But Lucas didn't sulk. He walked straight to the shop, sold the weapon, and pocketed tens of thousands of yuan. Every bit helped.

Even better, throughout these repeated runs, he managed to collect all the auxiliary materials needed to craft the pendant he'd been researching. Not only that—he'd even gotten lucky and found an additional ogre armor material, a rare bonus.

That morning, after blitzing through three nightmare dungeons again, Lucas returned to the main city of Tianhai, eager and energized. His destination was the best-known jewelry store in town, and he walked in with confident steps.

Inside, he approached the store's owner—a cheerful man with calloused hands and sharp eyes. According to the shop's signage (and the owner's loud bragging), this craftsman wasn't just skilled—he was an S-Rank Great Master, known across Tianhai for his excellence in crafting accessories.

Lucas didn't take the claim at face value, of course. He checked the business certificates on display and found them legitimate. The craftsman truly had over a decade of experience and a stellar reputation among job-changers and collectors alike. That was good enough for him.

From his inventory, Lucas carefully pulled out his most prized material—the Ogre's Crystal Core, shimmering with purple light—and several supporting items required for crafting.

The shop owner's eyes lit up the moment he saw the crystal. "Oh ho! That's the Ogre's Crystal Core, isn't it?" he said, clearly impressed. He looked up at Lucas, smiling knowingly. "Planning to have me make the Ogre's Bloodthirsty Pendant?"

Lucas nodded. "Exactly. Can you do it?"

"Of course I can!" the owner grinned, holding up five fingers. "You've already got the materials, so all I charge is 50,000 yuan for the crafting fee. That includes my S-Rank expertise and one-hour delivery time!"

"Fifty thousand?!" Lucas was stunned. "Isn't that a bit steep for just crafting?"

He knew crafted jewelry was expensive, but he hadn't expected the labor cost alone to be that high. It helped explain why a completed pendant sold for up to 200,000 yuan—the crafting fee was a significant part of the price.

"Not steep at all," the craftsman replied seriously. "That's the market rate. You could go to a cheaper craftsman, sure—but you'd be risking your materials."

He leaned in and tapped the table. "You don't want to pour rare resources into something and walk away with a one-star dud, do you? I'm a Great Master with an S-rank talent. I have a much higher chance of producing a three-star item or better. That's what you're really paying for."

Lucas paused. That did make sense.

He recalled Mason's grandfather, who was also an S-Rank blacksmith. His work consistently outclassed the gear produced by Mason's A-Rank father. Clearly, rank mattered. Skill mattered.

The shop owner grinned again. "Tell you what—if I end up making you anything less than two stars, I'll only charge 30,000 yuan. Deal?"

Lucas chuckled. "A gamble on your reputation, huh?"

"You bet it is." The man beamed, full of confidence.

"Alright," Lucas agreed after a brief pause. "I'll leave it to you."

He handed over all the materials and watched with anticipation as the craftsman got to work. Time ticked by, and after roughly forty minutes, the man lifted his head and wiped his brow, clearly satisfied.

"Done! Feast your eyes, kid—three stars, rare-grade, and made by my own hands!"

He handed Lucas the freshly crafted Ogre's Bloodthirsty Pendant, still faintly warm from the forge. Lucas took it carefully, holding it like treasure.

The pendant shimmered with a soft violet glow, its detailed etchings pulsing slightly with magical energy. The quality was undeniable.

"Three stars
rare quality?" Lucas blinked. He hadn't dared to hope for more than two stars. Getting three meant the item was top-tier for its level.

"Of course!" the craftsman laughed, clearly pleased with himself. "I told you—you came to the right guy."

Lucas smiled and gave a genuine thumbs up. "Boss, you're awesome. 10 out of 10."

Then he opened the item window to examine the pendant's stats:

---

Item Name: Ogre's Bloodthirsty Pendant

Type: Jewelry

Grade: Rare (Purple)

Star Rating: ★★★ (Three Stars)

Required Level: 20

Class Restriction: None

Attributes:

+50 Strength

+50 Constitution

+50 Agility

+50 Stamina

+50 Intelligence

Special Effect – Bloodthirst:

10% of all damage dealt is converted into healing for the wearer.

---

Lucas nearly dropped the pendant in awe.

"Fifty points in every stat
 and 10% lifesteal?"

That kind of bonus was unbelievable for a Level 20 item. The bloodthirst effect alone made it powerful enough to replace a party healer in many situations.

For most classes, the effect wasn't amazing. Priests could restore health more efficiently. But for Lucas, with his high burst damage and relentless offense, the healing would trigger rapidly and consistently.

It meant he could survive longer—maybe even indefinitely—as long as he kept attacking.

"Damn," Lucas muttered, amazed. "This thing is better than any healer."

He immediately equipped the pendant, feeling the rush of power settle into his body like a warm pulse of energy.

"You satisfied?" the boss asked smugly, seeing the stunned look on Lucas's face.

Lucas didn't even hesitate. "Absolutely. You weren't kidding—your work really is the best in Tianhai."

"Hah! I knew you'd say that," the man boomed with laughter. "Now, if only that meant I could charge more."

Lucas laughed too—then sighed and pulled out his card, transferring the full 50,000 yuan.

"Don't remind me," he grumbled. "I'm nearly broke now."

"Still got room for another trinket?" the craftsman offered, wiggling his eyebrows. "Got some fine accessories right here."

Lucas held up his empty wallet. "Nah, I'm officially poor. I still need to get armor and weapons, too."

With that, he waved goodbye and left the shop, pendant proudly gleaming at his neck.

—

Lucas's next stop was the blacksmith shop run by Mason's family. Her dad—who was, in fact, very round—greeted him like an old friend and eagerly showed him some top-tier wares.

Lucas ended up purchasing a three-star blue dagger, shelling out another tens of thousands of yuan for it. It wasn't rare-grade, but it was sharp, fast, and tailored to his assassin class.

From there, he moved to the tailor's shop, using the leftover ogre leather material to craft a two-star blue-quality armor piece—specifically, ogre leather pants, meant to match his earlier ogre leather chest armor.

It wasn't top-tier, but at least it didn't look mismatched.

Lucas also bought helmet and glove armor, both blue-quality and solid in stats. Each cost a hefty sum, but they'd round out his defense.

By the end of the spree, Lucas had almost a complete Level 20 equipment set, missing only a waistband and a ring.

And his bank account? Barely a few tens of thousands left—his funds had taken a massive hit.

Still, he looked at his stat panel and grinned.

Compared to the basic Level 1 gear he had when he started, he was now a powerhouse. All this gear—especially the pendant—made him stronger, faster, and harder to kill. Every single coin had been worth it.

With his confidence fully restored and his gear upgraded, Lucas was ready to tackle his next challenge—

the single-player job advancement dungeon.
