"You really have that much faith in me?"
Lucas looked at her in surprise, his voice filled with genuine curiosity.
"Because I can clearly see that you have a lot of confidence in yourself," Jade Walker replied with a small, knowing smile. "So I have every reason to believe in you too."
Her words struck with such sincerity that it was hard to argue against them.
Lucas laughed, clearly entertained. "President Jade, I have to say—you're great at reading people!" He gave her a thumbs-up, the praise genuine.
Lucas was, after all, a very confident man. Not without reason—people thought he was just an S-Level Talent, but in truth, he was SSS-Level! That alone made any concerns about him being stuck at a bottleneck laughable.
Jade's tone turned a bit more serious. "So I hope you'll consider our guild's offer carefully."
There was no need for her to repeat the terms. She had already offered Lucas the position of vice president—a role that came with significant authority, second only to her own. He would have access to nearly all the resources of the guild. There wasn't anything else worth adding.
Lucas nodded slowly. "I can feel your sincerity, President Jade. I'll give it serious thought and give you an answer within three days."
"Alright," Jade nodded, not at all surprised. "I'll be waiting for good news."
After that, Lucas stood and took his leave. The meeting had gone smoothly, and both sides seemed satisfied with the outcome.
Once he was gone, Jade and her assistant, Emily Frost, remained seated at the table, neither rushing to leave.
"So," Jade asked casually, "what do you think? Will he accept the offer?"
She instinctively reached for her coffee, remembered she didn't like it, and quickly put it back down, then turned to look at Emily.
"It's hard to say," Emily responded honestly, shaking her head.
Jade wasn't surprised by the answer. She hadn't brought Emily along just for show. She valued her not only as an assistant but for her incredible observation skills—she could read people through subtle clues like posture, eye movements, and microexpressions. She was far more than just a pretty face.
"Then what did you notice about him?" Jade asked curiously.
Emily looked serious. "President, since the moment he came in, he glanced at your White Rabbit candy twelve times. Total gaze time: about three seconds. Based on that, I judge that he's a hardcore White Rabbit fan."
She paused dramatically, then added, "If you're willing to sacrifice…"
"Ha?!!" Jade's eyebrows flew up. She reached over and tugged at Emily's cheeks in mock anger. "Emily! I let you get away with your teasing earlier, but you're seriously addicted to these jokes, aren't you?!"
"Kowtow yes..." Emily mumbled, cheeks stretched. "But I speak the truth…"
"You're still talking?!" Jade glared and gave her cheeks another pinch before letting go. "Alright, tell me—how many times did he look at you?"
"…Once," Emily answered, her face unreadable.
"Just one time?"
Jade blinked in surprise. Then her eyes drifted down toward Emily's chest. After a few seconds, she seemed to realize something.
"Oh… No wonder. That explains everything."
"President, that's blatant discrimination!" Emily huffed. "I protest!"
Jade tried to keep a straight face but couldn't hold back her laughter. "Don't be upset, Emily. You're still young. Someday you'll—pfft…"
Even she couldn't finish the sentence seriously.
She looked down at herself—round, full, confidently displayed. No wonder Lucas couldn't help stealing glances. She was a natural attention magnet.
"Waaaah! You're bullying me again!" Emily cried out, eyes glancing at her own flat chest, then back at Jade's with a sad expression.
Anyone watching the scene would probably shed a tear for her.

Meanwhile, Lucas had no idea that his not-so-secret admiration had been noticed and was under thorough discussion.
He was still lost in thought, weighing which guild he should join.
There were two clear options: the Grand Age Guild, a powerhouse with deep roots, or the Tower Demolition Squad Guild, a rising star with incredible ambition.
He didn't even bother with the small or mid-sized guilds that hadn't scheduled meetings yet. No matter how good their offers were, they couldn't match what Jade's guild was giving—unless their president was willing to step down entirely and hand over the reins, which was absurd.
This wasn't a recruitment drive to hire a boss!
Why would a guild president step down just to bring in someone new?
Even Jade, as open-minded and forward-thinking as she was, wasn't planning to give up her position anytime soon. She still had a solid ten years left on her tenure. That's the only reason she could make an offer so bold—because she had the time to groom someone for the role of future president.
And if Lucas was truly as strong as she believed, then reaching Level 100 should be no problem. That would only confirm she'd made the right decision.
Of course, Lucas saw through her plan, but he didn't mind. Jade was sincere in her offer—she wasn't trying to trick him. She genuinely saw him as the future of her guild.
If he couldn't even break past Level 100, then he'd have no right to be president anyway.
So there was no deception. Just a mutual understanding.
The real question for Lucas now was: which path to choose?
Should he go with the Grand Age Guild or the Tower Demolition Squad Guild?
Both had great offers, and both clearly saw his potential.
It reminded Lucas of the time when he had just graduated college. He'd faced a similar choice then—join a massive, well-established company, or take a risk with a smaller start-up.
Big companies were stable and powerful. They had money, resources, influence.
There's an old saying—"It's nice to rest in the shade of a big tree."
Joining a large firm would bring benefits. They might be subtle, but they added up—connections, training, credibility. And if you proved yourself, promotions would come in time.
Not to mention, Lucas wouldn't be just another employee. With his skillset, he'd start out with a strong position—possibly even leading teams and holding executive influence.
He could climb the ladder. Eventually, even reach the top.
But small companies, for all their disadvantages, also came with unique opportunities.
They lacked structure, sure—but they had flexibility. Potential. Growth. Promise.
If he joined the Tower Demolition Squad Guild now, he'd start off as the vice president.
He wouldn't just be someone in the ranks—he'd be a decision-maker. And if the guild grew big in the future, he could become the president. Maybe even stay involved for life as one of the founding figures.
A legend. A cornerstone of the guild's history.
With Jade Walker—a powerful SS-Level Talent—already leading the charge, the guild's future looked very bright. With Lucas on board, they might rise to stand shoulder to shoulder with the biggest names.
So either way, he was looking at a bright future.
He just had to decide: play it safe or take a leap?
Steady climb or rapid ascent?
If he picked the Grand Age Guild, he'd have comfort, structure, and power—eventually.
If he went with the Tower Demolition Squad Guild, he'd have responsibility, pressure, and possibly, glory—soon.
It was a difficult choice, but one that only he could make.
And he had three days.
