Chapter 98 - Chapter 98: Join

"Well, please."

Emily Frost smiled faintly and raised her hand in a welcoming gesture. If needed, she could even contact Amelia Su herself to prove everything she had just said was true. She was certain that Amelia Su would be delighted to hear such good news.

Right in front of Emily, Alexis Lane quickly called Amelia Su. The reply she got was exactly what Emily expected—a resounding yes.

When Amelia Su heard that Lucas had officially joined the Tower Demolition Team Guild, her tone brightened immediately. She was so excited she nearly ran over to meet Emily on the spot, eager to join the guild without delay.

"No, Miss Su, I believe our president will be contacting you soon, so please don't worry," Emily reassured her. Of course, Emily also wanted Amelia Su to join as quickly as possible, but it wasn't her place to handle that. Jade Walker, the president, was the most suitable person to take care of this, and Emily didn't want to overstep.

"Alright, then I'll wait," Amelia Su replied, her voice full of happiness and anticipation.

"It's actually true?"

After hanging up, Alexis still looked surprised. She hadn't expected Amelia Su to go this far just to be in the same guild as Lucas.

Was their relationship really that close? Alexis felt a faint twinge of jealousy.

"Lucas… he's really joined your guild?" Alexis asked, raising her head for confirmation.

"Of course. I promise you." Emily smiled warmly but spoke with complete seriousness, before extending the invitation: "Miss Lane, would you like to join us too?"

This was Emily's real goal from the beginning. She knew how good Alexis's relationship was with both Amelia Su and Lucas. If Amelia Su was willing to join for Lucas, then maybe Alexis would as well.

"Alright, I'll join too," Alexis decided without hesitation.

Up until yesterday, Alexis had been leaning more toward joining the large Prosperity Guild. Her father had even agreed with her choice, advising her to build connections there and take the initiative to contact them. It would be good for her career in the long run. But now, she changed her mind instantly, accepting Emily's offer without a trace of doubt.

"Great! On behalf of all members of the Tower Demolition Team Guild, welcome, Miss Lane." Emily beamed and extended her hand for a shake.

Vroom—Vroom—

After leaving the Tower Demolition Team Guild headquarters, Lucas summoned a heavy-duty motorcycle from his space backpack. The sleek machine appeared right on the roadside. He slipped on his helmet, swung a leg over the seat, and twisted the throttle, the engine roaring with a deep, satisfying growl.

Today he was wearing the purple rare-quality armor suit he'd just claimed. With its sleek design and air of mystery, it looked far better than the standard riding uniforms—handsome and powerful all at once. Lucas liked it so much that he couldn't bring himself to change back into regular clothes.

Earlier, he'd taken the time to test the armor's simulated combat functions at the training ground and discovered something amazing—his stats had been boosted to an extraordinary level. His damage output was now high enough to take down tougher monsters in a single strike, making leveling up far faster than before.

And with his double experience time still active, Lucas was eager to head to the wilderness and go on a monster-hunting spree. But first, there was something else he needed to do.

Pulling out his phone, he called Danny Quinn, telling him to meet at the Kyoto University gate. Then he revved up the motorcycle and headed back toward campus.

Lucas had no regrets about joining the Tower Demolition Team Guild. Sure, it was only level six and nowhere near as large or as powerful as a top-tier level ten guild like Prosperity. But Jade Walker treated him exceptionally well—and as the new vice president, he'd already received benefits that most players could only dream of.

He had seriously considered starting his own guild before. But it would require too much capital and effort to grow quickly, even with a wealthy friend like Danny Quinn. Any investment would still need approval from Danny's father, who would no doubt want to inspect everything before handing over money. Lucas didn't want to waste time with that kind of red tape—it would interfere with his real priority: leveling up.

When it came to choosing a guild, a normal S or SS-level player might lean toward Prosperity for stability and long-term growth. But Lucas wasn't just an elite—he was an SSS-level hidden talent, far beyond anything the world expected. Large guilds had too many members, too many rigid rules, and too many internal factions. They were powerful but slow to adapt, weighed down by politics and old systems.

The Tower Demolition Team Guild, on the other hand, was new, flexible, and brimming with opportunity. Here, Lucas could enjoy the perks of being vice president immediately. From this position, he could help the guild grow, eventually becoming president himself—and later, even if he stepped down, he could remain a powerful figure behind the scenes.

He was more than satisfied with his decision and already looking forward to the future.

---

On the top floor of the guild headquarters, Jade Walker stood by the tall glass windows, watching Lucas's motorcycle vanish down the street. A smile touched her lips. Pulling out her phone, she dialed Emily Frost.

"Hey, hey! President, I've been waiting for your call!" Emily's cheerful voice came through instantly. She seemed to already know why Jade was calling. "I saw the guild update. You really got Lucas to join!"

"Yes, he agreed," Jade confirmed, still riding the wave of excitement. If she wasn't still at work, she would have been jumping for joy.

"Hehe… see? I told you my 'charm offensive' plan would work!" Emily said proudly. "I'm the hero here, President. Don't forget that."

"Hmph, don't worry, I won't forget," Jade replied in a low, almost dismissive tone. Charm offensive, my foot, she thought. She knew she'd secured Lucas through her own determination, not because of Emily's so-called plan. Still, she wasn't about to start an argument now—she'd save that for later.

Emily suddenly sensed something off in Jade's tone and shrank her shoulders instinctively. "Uh… by the way, how are things going on your end?"

"Smoothly. What about you?" Jade asked, steering the conversation away before Emily lost her nerve.

"Mission accomplished!" Emily reported enthusiastically. "At first, we almost failed. But thanks to your timely news, I got creative—I pulled in Amelia Su along with Lucas, and that sealed the deal with Alexis Lane!"

She was clearly proud of her quick thinking, eager for more praise.

"Oh, that's great," Jade said, genuinely pleased. Alexis, with her S-level talent and hidden combat class, was one of the recruits Jade had been keeping an eye on—second only to Lucas and Amelia Su. Bringing her into the guild was a big win.

"And, President," Emily added quickly, "you should contact Amelia Su right away! She already knows Lucas joined, and she's dying to get in."

"Alright, I'll call her now. Hanging up," Jade said, her voice urgent.

"Wha—?" Emily started, but Jade had already ended the call.

Emily stared at her phone in disbelief. "Seriously? Not even a 'thank you'?" she muttered. She was convinced she was the true hero here, yet her president didn't seem to care. Burning bridges right after crossing them—wasn't that a little too fast?
