But the bad news for Logan Barrett wasn't over yet.
Not long after the shattered phone incident, one of his subordinates—who had been desperately trying to get through—rushed into his office, looking flustered and pale.
"Guild President," the man blurted, "Alexis Lane, the S-level talent with a hidden combat profession, has rejected our invitation… and joined another guild!"
"Pfft—!!!"
That was a knife straight into Logan's chest. He almost coughed up three liters of blood on the spot. His voice trembled as he demanded, "She… she… joined… which guild?"
A bad feeling crept over him like a cold shadow. He already knew the answer before it came.
"…It's… the Tower Demolition Team Guild."
The subordinate's voice was cautious, like he was afraid this news might kill his boss outright.
"Cough—! Jade… Jade Walker!"
Logan clutched at his chest, struggling to breathe.
Alexis Lane wasn't just another recruit—she was one of the most promising talents he'd been banking on this season. She wasn't as freakishly overpowered as Lucas, but she still far outshone other S-level geniuses. Her Frost Mage profession alone made her a strategic asset few guilds could match.
Even worse, her father, Leon Graves, had a longstanding personal friendship with the Prosperity Guild. During their last meeting, Logan could tell Alexis had been seriously interested in joining them—it had seemed practically guaranteed.
And now? Two days later, she'd gone to Jade's guild instead.
Logan was certain—Jade and her people must have done something to sway her decision.
In just a matter of days, three of the strongest talents in this year's generation were now Tower Demolition members:
Amelia Su – SS-level Holy Shield Knight
Lucas – S-level Shadow Assassin with hidden combat class
Alexis Lane – S-level Frost Mage
And what had the mighty Prosperity Guild—the top-ranked guild in the nation—secured? Nothing. Not a single one.
It was the most humiliating defeat Logan had suffered in all his years as president.
It was over.
The SS-level Holy Shield Knight—gone.
The S-level Shadow Assassin—gone.
The S-level Frost Mage—gone.
And he knew what that meant. The new generation of top talents shaped the future of a guild. Tower Demolition was no longer just a small, ambitious outfit—it was now the most dangerous rival Prosperity would face in the coming years.
Logan sat slumped in his chair, his mind a mess, his confidence in shambles.

Meanwhile, in the wilds outside the city, Lucas had finally arrived at his chosen hunting grounds. The monsters here were perfect for farming—strong enough to give excellent experience, but nothing he couldn't handle.
With a flick of his wrist, he stowed his beloved heavy motorcycle back into his space backpack, then pulled his dagger free.
The creature ahead of him looked like a nightmare mix of a beetle and a mantis—a giant one-horned insect, the size of a small calf. A long, razor-sharp horn jutted from its head, and its forelimbs were scythe-like blades that gleamed menacingly in the sunlight.
Lucas didn't flinch. He pulled out a detection scroll and tossed it at the creature.
---
Name: Giant Scythe One-Horned Rhinoceros Beetle
Level: 46
Life: ???
Attack Power: ???
Physical Defense: ???
Magic Defense: ???
Skills: ???
---
Everything beyond the name and level was hidden by question marks—too big a gap between their levels for the scroll to read.
But Lucas didn't care. He'd already tested this in the guild's combat simulator back at headquarters. With his current attack power, he could one-shot most monsters over twenty levels higher than himself.
The numbers didn't lie. A Level 46 monster's health was usually around 20,000, with physical defense near 1,400. Impressive stats for most players, but for Lucas? They were nothing more than targets.
For ordinary career changers in their twenties, facing monsters like this was suicide. Even a five-man party would struggle—poor gear or bad teamwork could easily lead to a full wipe.
But Lucas wasn't just another player. His damage output was so high that even without skills, one normal strike would be enough to end these things.
And if he actually used skills? It wouldn't even be a contest.
---
"Alright then… time to turn on the real fun."
Lucas opened his guild interface, navigated to the personal attribute page, and selected the Double Experience boost.
A three-hour countdown appeared:
2:59:59…
2:59:58…
No time to waste.
In an instant, Lucas vanished from sight, reappearing behind the beetle with a Backstab that plunged his dagger into its weakest point.
The insect shrieked and collapsed instantly, its health bar wiped out in a single hit.
---
[Congratulations! You have slain a Level 46 Giant Scythe One-Horned Rhinoceros Beetle. You have gained experience points…]
---
Lucas glanced at his experience bar and smiled. The boost was working perfectly—the gain was far beyond what he usually got from enemies only ten levels higher.
"Better than I expected," he murmured, eyes gleaming.
Without wasting a second, he spotted another beetle in the distance and dashed toward it.
---
[Congratulations! You have slain a Level 46 Giant Scythe One-Horned Rhinoceros Beetle…]
[Congratulations! You have slain a Level 46 Giant Scythe One-Horned Rhinoceros Beetle…]
---
One kill after another, his progress bar soared upward.
For three straight hours, Lucas tore through the wilds, moving from the beetle territory into another monster zone, carving a bloody path dozens of miles long. By the time the Double Experience timer hit zero, the ground behind him was littered with corpses.
---
"Haha… not bad. Not bad at all."
He checked his experience bar—up 19.6% in just three hours. That was better than an entire afternoon of grinding before.
To put it in perspective, his old grind—fighting monsters ten levels higher plus running three nightmare dungeons—had only netted him about 14% progress in a day. Leveling up at that pace took nearly a week per level.
Now? He could do it in five days.
And that wasn't even the limit. He could still grind for another three or four hours today, adding another 10% without the boost. And on top of that, he had two hours of five-times experience per week from guild bonuses.
If he really pushed himself—full leveling maniac mode—he could hit a new level every three days.
That meant ten levels in a month.
From Level 25 now, he could be Level 40 in a month and a half.
All because he'd joined Tower Demolition—gaining the best gear, better hunting grounds, and the guild's powerful experience boosts.
His purple rare-quality equipment let him one-shot high-level monsters, and stacking that with double experience made his progress explode.
The second job change wasn't far away anymore.
At this speed, he could hit the second transfer stage in less than half a semester, while most first-years wouldn't reach it until the end of the year.
Lucas grinned. "I have to ask… who's even close to my pace?"
The answer, of course, was no one.
