Lura knows what to do, but Luke, being young and unexpected result of the training, made her panic. Thus, Lura unbuttoned her clothing and let the child felt her warm. She wrap him up and quickly headed back home. "Please... Please hang in there Luke."
At the house ...
She closed the windows and doors in order to warm up the room. She placed Luke in a foam and surround him with pillows and blankets. Luke's still shivering, leaving Lura no choice but to offer her bodily heat. She embraced him, and wrap him with her arms. Together, with a thick blanket, she covered herself with it as she shared her warmth to the chilling child.
"Mama.... mama...." The boy mumbled, shivering greatly. "I... I dunno what you've witnessed during your training." Lura comforts. "But please.... please... fight, Luke." Lura couldn't help but stare at the boy, hopelessly. She firmly hugged him as the day passed.
At night...
Luke shows signs of discomfort, all because of his parent's demise, a young lads's memory. In that void, he's weeping, "Mama ... Papa ..." suddenly, a glimmer of light shines blindingly and embraced him. He halts and wondered who. "It's okay Luke... You don't be scared, mama's here." He raised his head and saw Luna's gentle love.
"Mama will be with you always." Luke couldn't utter a word as his mother wiped off his tears. "Be a brave boy and make us proud." The boy opened his eyes and sees Lura wrapped him. "Mom...shie?" Luke's voice awakened her. "Luke....? LUKE??! YOU'RE FINALLY AWAKE! Are you feeling — okay?" She stroke his head. "Wha— what happ—" Lura shiftly hugged him, crying. "Thank the Celestial Planes you're fine!" Luke is speechless, witnessing Lura's pleased expression.
"Luke, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pushed you into that training. I'm a naive trainer." Luke shakes his head. "No momshie, it was my fault for pressuring you into training. I should've stayed away from my curiosities and let the adult handle the issue." Lura's captivated by her son's words, therefore she— "I understand Luke. You are a considerate child. As a reward, we'll continue your training. I'll be mindful this time."
Luke gasped. "Really?! As in, you MEAN IT??!" Lura smiled and nods. "Yes! But let's change the course a bit. From basics of power to combat. That way, shock will— hmm... somehow prevented." Luke clings to her, giving a big and shimmering eyes. "Please momshie, don't change our training! I promise I won't overdo! Cross my heart and my pinky."
Lura giggles. "You really are a push-over, yaknow that? Anyways, better keep your word okay?" Luke excitedly nods and suddenly, his stomach growls. "I guess it's breastfeeding time, huh? Well then, enjoy yourself." Luke happily lached on her and breastfeeding has began.
Next day...
Luke and Lura were back at the Training Site. "Now, I'm going to introduce some information regarding "magic" thing. Remember the training you did yesterday? That method is called 'Faith'... Faith is the actual term of that power which a person can release. According to the Divine writings: 'If you have faith as little as the mustard seed, you can move even the mountains.' As time goes by, people from Peiz Zae and Lasugnia coined a different term for Faith because of the fact they cannot possibly believe Faith is the right term for it, so that's where 'M'Jiek' comes after, which is magic."
She scratches her head. "I didn't told you yesterday because I got excited. So, forgive my incompetence." Lura smiled. "Anyway, I prefer to use the term 'Faith' than 'M'Jiek'. After all, I believe what was written in the Divine, the Supreme Deity's words." Hearing that, Luke gone silent and Lura noticed. "What's wrong Luke?" The boy shakes his head. "Nothing."
"Alright! Enough talking and let's finish what we've started!" They continue their business. As always, Luke struggled due for remembering his past memories on how his mother died in a gruesome way but Luna's spirit lend her shoulder to Luke thus, giving the lil' boy courage to go on.
In that instant, Lura felt a greater force swirling around Luke. She opened her eyes and couldn't believe what she saw; Luke's faith is overwhelming. Lura can't help but smile. "As expected of my big sis' son." She complimented in her thoughts.
"You've passed, Luke. Job well done!" She applauded and Luke let out a great sigh. "How do you feel?" The boy looks wobbly. "I.... I feel tired but at the same time, relaxed." Lura crossed her arms. "Well, I guess you finally settled with your inner battles. So, we'll take a break for now." Luke barely have strength to stand and he fell on his knees, as for Lura, she brought her backpack and take out the snacks.
As always, Luke eats like a glutton, just like his father and Lura just watched him dig in. "Luke, I don't want to ask this but— what did you saw that almost killed you last night?" Luke halt. "Momshie must've known what happened to mama, so—" suddenly, Lura flinched and decided to push her luck. "What happened to your mama? How did she—?! No... I shouldn't push you. Just tell me whenever you feel like it, son." Luke shakes his head. "I see. I guess momshie doesn't know what happened to mama after all."
Luke's hands were trembling. "I don't want momshie to be unaware, so I'll take courage to speak." Lura regretted in pushing her curiosities to the boy but... what is done is done. "I was lying in my cradle, but suddenly I felt tremor and growling all around the place. Mama came and she looks in a hurry, taking me out from my sleep. She carried me outside but just before I knew it, a huge number of infernals stormed in and confronted mama. Mama lend me to the grandma, waving her arm like it wants us to escape but— " Luke starts crying. "There's too many of them and they attacked us! That very second I blinked, mama is stabbed in the— in the—!!?" Lura embraced him.
"That's okay, Luke. You don't have to continue." She stroke his head. "I now understand. It is truly a nightmare, especially when you remembered it clearly. I'm sorry for asking." Luke wailed and Lura comforts him. "Big sis protected her child even if it cost her life. Truly, you are strong."
Later....
Luke and Lura resumes the training. "We've finally finished the basics of Faith's might, now, what we're going to do now is to to condense faith into a power that can move mountains, in other words, to release that form of power." Luke's listening. "What we're going to do now is imagine the element, and feel its nature. Do not let a single doubt sinks in after all, 'Doubt is a silent killer of one's potential'. Once you opened the path, there's no turning back, thus, restricting potential of one's faith to manifest."
Lura crossed her arms. "Now that you got the basics, it is time for you to learn the first of the 5, and that's fire." Luke shows eagerness to learn. "What should I do, momshie?" Lura exhales. "Remember your first training? Well, you already got the basics, what's needed now is to understand the nature of the 5 Elements."
"Fire is— scorching hot once it gets contact with the skin. In massive scale, fire causes massive destruction. But— in darkness, Fire gives light and warmth." Lura speaks. "Either way, combined the first training you had in completing this trial."
"Only few attained in casting this sort of power, all because faith is taken lightly by many. If they cannot attain faith as big as the mustard seed, they could never achieve it." She then smiles. "That's how the power system of this world to be realized."
"Anyways, enough chatting and let's get on with it, Luke." Luke stood up and started his training. He applied the very first training he had for this trial but that same moment, this fire brings horror of his young stage.
A fire that blazes fiercest in his memory.
In that memory, his anger sparks thus, his body releases heat waves that quickly turn his arms into embers. "Luke! You did i—" Before Lura compliments, the boy's emotion ran rampant and burned his 5-meter radius. "Luke! What's wrong?" Luke could not hear her as his emotion surges wildly.
"What's happening? It's event is the same as his first training." Lura wondered as she watches Luke. "LUKE! REMEMBER, CONTROL YOURSELF!" Lura noticed that there's no sign in getting to him which is why— she stepped forward and grabbed both his shoulders. "Luke! Look at me! Look at me in the eyes!" Luke slowly opened his eyes and since Lura's hair is untrimmed, the boy mistook her as his mother.
"Mama?" The flames calmed down and this gave Lura an opportunity: She hugged him. "It's okay, momshie's here." Lura stroke his head and he start crying. "This boy possesses great potential at his early stage. His faith is incredible. But— since he is still a kid who has memories of his parent's tragedy, that made this training difficult." Lura wondered but soon, this gave her an idea.
"Wait..!? What if I'll prioritize a nature element that doesn't relate to that tragedy like Agua, Aeros, and Tontrus? Hmm.. not sure about Aeros, I'll stick to Agua and Tontrus for now." This cheered her up, afterwards, she does the same thing to the boy. "Luke, great job in completing the training! I'm totally surprised how you managed to complete it in this day. Some M'Jiekers out there struggled to finish this training, took years and decades to master." She cheerfully said. "You did a great job! You're a prodigy!"
Luke doesn't know how to react, after all, he hasn't recovered from those nightmares that, then, resurfaced in this very training. "We should take some rest today. Job well done."
"No!" Luke interrupted and surprises Lura. "I need to get stronger, momshie! Please train me more!" The boy insisted, and Lura, who doesn't know how to refuse, "Okay, if you insist." She goes on. "What's the next nature element we'll gonna train, momshie?" Lura's aware of the elements that brings bad memories to the child, therefore, she prioritizes Agua. "The next element you'll train is Agua. For that, we must head to the river and initiate your training." Luke smiled. "Right away, momshie!" Both mother and son headed to the river to train.
In the river....
Luke's standing nearby the waters and Lura instructs. "Now, just like what you did with Pyros method, treat Agua the same." Luke sits at the boulder and closes his eyes. "I hope this training goes well. I prayed this section could somehow calm him." Lura prayed. When the training starts, Luke feel the flow of waters and it somehow soothes him. "Water is the the 1st element that the Supreme Deity created, the source of life. Human body is made up of water, the essence of majority in this planet. It can be destructive and deadly but it is calming and rejuvenating that explains why healers are akin to Agua."
"I do hope that this training calms his disturb mind." Lura observes. Back at Luke, the boy is in deep focus. The flow of water calms his disturb spirit, just as Lura speculated. "It feels... soothing." He wondered. "Both my mind and body are at peace compared from my previous trainings." Just then, the water surrounding the boy afloats, making Lura smiled in relief. "He did it! You are indeed a prodigy just like your parents!" She complimented in her thoughts. The boy, later, opened his eyes and looked at Lura with a blissful expression.
"How did it feel Luke?" Lura asks as she draws closer. The boy looked at his hands, smiling. "I feel... Awesome momshie!" Lura then smiled. "Great to hear, son. Anyways, let's have lunch first then let's continue your training afterwards." Luke nods and head back to the village.
On their way, Luke fell unconscious and thankfully Lura caught him on time. She checks on him and noticed that the boy is seriously tired. "We'll resume the training tomorrow, Luke. Job well done." She carried the boy home.
Two days later...
Luke wakes up. "Where— where am I?" The boy stood up but is weak to support his weight. "Stay and rest for now. We're at home." Lura reassures. "I see. What happened momshie?"
"You fainted along the way." Luke felt bad. "I see. How long was I asleep, momshie?" Lura gave him food. "2 days." Luke's eyes widened. "Anyways, you gotta eat first. I'm sure you're really hungry and yoir stomach is behaving like a lion now. So, eat up." Luke couldn't resist the sight of food, therefore, he gobble them up. "I've been asleep... For that long, momshie?" Lura nods. "I see.. I guess I've delayed my training's progress."
"Actually, it's not." Luke gasped. "It's okay to take rest Luke. Don't always push yourself. Anyways, enough talking and fill your hungry stomach, son." The boy nods and start filling his stomach. Later, Lura breastfeed the boy.
In afternoon....
Luke and Lura came out from the house to do groceries, at the market square. Though the boy is slightly matured at mind, he can't helped tempted to do childish stuffs like— asking Lura to give him a ride and happily watches the people in his momshie's shoulders. The scenery truly amused him and Lura continues what she's tasked to do.
Later....
When dusk breaks, Lura headed to the plaza to relax. "Yay! Plaza! Plaza!" Luke excitedly speaks. Lura unmount him and both seated at the bench. "How do you feel son, looking good?" Luke smiled. "Great as always, momshie!"
"Luke, I know it's too early to ask this but— may I ask what you see everytime you train? I mean... How come you, a baby lad, remembered what happened during the lost of your parents?" Luke scratches his checks shyly. "Well, I don't exactly know what's going on in that memory but the scenes are as clear as water. When something, like fire, triggers that part of the memory. That instance, I slowly realize that it was a tragedy rather than any normal event."
"I see." Lura plainly answered. "If that's the case, knowing that this training brings forth that tragedy, do you think it's best to stop? At first, I don't know that this training could reawaken your nightmares. Back then, I viewed your request as a bold move to get stronger but— after seeing you suffer, it makes me think I've made a bad choice." Lura expresses and confronts the boy. "I didn't mean to cause you harm, especially the mind. You are a young soul, and I can't risk to taint that." Lura looks sad and the boy stood up from his seat.
