Chapter 17 - Family of Ashes

The rain hammered down on the city as the van tore through dark streets, the tape burning a hole in Jade's coat pocket. Each drop was like a drumbeat counting down to the reckoning.

Mira drove with a cold focus, her eyes sharp behind the windshield. Kelz sat beside her, muscles tense, while Jade stared out the window, mind racing.

"This tape," Kelz finally broke the silence, voice low, "it's more than dirt on the De-Light brothers. It's a map to their empire's skeleton—who's corrupt, who's loyal, and who's waiting to stab them in the back."

Jade swallowed hard. "We have the power now. But are we ready to use it? Because once this goes public, there's no turning back. Families will fall. People will die."

Her own heart pounded, not just with fear, but a fierce fire. Revenge was no longer just personal—it was war.

Mira nodded, eyes never leaving the road. "You wanted to bring them down. This is how."

Hours later, they arrived at an abandoned warehouse on the city's edge, a safe house Mira trusted. Inside, monitors flickered to life as they played the tape.

Voices they'd heard in whispers now screamed their secrets: bribes, threats, betrayals. The De-Light dynasty was rotten to its core.

Kelz's fist slammed the table. "This is it—the end of the line for them."

Jade's phone buzzed. A message from an unknown number:

*"You think you're the hunter. But the prey fights back. Watch your back, Jade."*

The game was far from over. But now, the stakes were life and death—and love tangled in the crossfire.

Jade looked at Kelz, resolve hardening in her eyes.

"Let's finish this."
