Chapter 2 - Eyes That Open Before Birth

Countless moments passed by.

Sævor opened his eyes—figuratively, for his physical ones were still underdeveloped. He floated in warmth, wrapped in the pulse of something ancient, his thoughts gathering like clouds after a long drought.

He had passed out.

The last ordeal—his awakening, the birth, Odin's gaze—had overloaded something in him. Soul? Mind? He wasn't sure. Even now, he floated in confusion, barely tethered to thought. He couldn't tell how much time had passed since he blacked out. Hours? Days?

And now he was here again. Floating. Half-formed but undeniably aware.

"…Where… am I?" he asked the void of his mind. The questions surfaced like bubbles in his mind.

"Query received."

The voice returned, crisp and calm.

"Welcome back, Sævor. I am Ælir—your Divine Cognition Module, born from your soul's core during your Awakening. I exist as a function of your Domain: Wisdom."

"Ælir…" he echoed, the name grounding him.

"Correct. I exist within your soul. I am you, but I operate as a distinct logic-based assistant—an extension of your consciousness, designed to process, organise, and optimise your potential."

"I… I was confused. I forgot."

"The host's recent unconscious state induced partial memory fragmentation. As per your request—implicit or explicit—I have reinitiated memory recall."

And just like that…

He remembered.

Earth. The world before this one.The life that came before divinity.

It wasn't complete. It never was. Not yet. But flashes came quickly now—memories, thoughts, ideas from a different world. A world with no gods, but with stories of them.

The movies, comics, animations, everything.

Earth.

"What happened? Where am I?"

"You experienced spiritual shock due to premature divinity ignition. Following your temporary unconscious state, energy equilibrium was restored. Your current location—gathered via external world-root data—is: Asgard."

Sævor blinked—internally, since he lacked proper eyelids.

"…Asgard?"

"Correct. I accessed spatial designation through indirect energy signatures absorbed from Yggdrasil's rootlines. Environmental indicators confirm high-density divine radiation, World Tree resonance, and All-Father domain imprint. Thus: Asgard."

Sævor was silent.

"…Really?" he finally muttered.

"Affirmative."

"The Asgard? Gold palaces, rainbow bridge, giant goats pulling chariots, that Asgard?"

"Based on retained fragments of your former life's cultural memory—yes. Precisely that Asgard."

He just floated there, utterly dumbfounded.

"…Okay," he said slowly. "That's… a lot."

"But which Asgard?"

"Clarify."

He sighed. If he had a head to rub, he would've.

"In my past life, Asgard wasn't just one thing. There were myths, yes, but also a dozen fictional versions. God of War Asgard, High School DxD's Norse pantheon, Record of Ragnarok's doom-fueled divine arena… hell, even Smite has its own take."

He paused, thoughtful.

"…So which am I in? Where are we, really?"

Ælir was silent for a moment, then responded:

"Name-based correlations indicate your maternal identifier is 'Frigga.' Not Frigg. Not Freya. That, combined with Odin's conquest period and infant sibling Hela, matches only one consistent framework within your residual soul memory."

"…The MCU."

"Correct. Based on probability and context markers, this realm most closely resembles the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, during Odin's expansionist era."

Sævor just floated there, dumbstruck.

"…I'm in the MCU? Seriously?"

"98.6% probability, based on current known variables."

He could only laugh in his mind—dry, incredulous.

Out of all the versions of Norse cosmology… the one with super-soldiers, green rage monsters, and multiversal nonsense… that was the one he landed in?

"Well," he said eventually, "at least I have the script. Sort of."

"Caution. This universe may deviate from known media interpretations. Variations are statistically likely."

"…Of course they are."

"Would you like to process your personal status?" Ælir offered.

"…Yeah. Hit me."

"You are Sævor. Born from Frigga. Twin to Hela. Son of Odin, All-Father of Asgard. Your Domain: Wisdom. You awakened in the womb, which triggered high-level soul expansion and cognitive partition—creating me, Ælir."

"And Hela? Is she—?"

"Stable. Her own awakening occurred moments after birth. Risk was mitigated by my intervention."

Sævor sighed in relief.

"Good. I didn't mean to… mess things up."

Odin. Frigga. Hela. Asgard. Himself.

He'd been born into power—into myth. Not just as a bystander, but a player.

And unlike before… he knew how this story ended.

Ragnarök... Probably..

Or through other cosmic events.

Or Thor will save us all.

"…Ælir."

"Yes?"

"Can you... see what's outside?"

"Negative. I can only perceive what you feel, know, or experience. All information beyond your perception must be derived from logic or energy analysis."

"Can you access Asgard's prophecy records? Anything on me or Hela?"

"Not yet. You must first establish external sensory channels—eyes, ears, and touch must develop. Once you're able to perceive, I can begin compiling real-time data through divine resonance mapping."

"So, until then, I'm… just floating."

"Affirmative. But you're not alone."

Sævor sensed it again—her.Hela.The pulse of her soul beside his. Dark. Majestic. Sleeping.

He didn't know what she would become—not truly—but he felt their bond nonetheless.

A pair born before fate was ready.

And yet, ready they were.

"Alright," he whispered into the dark. "Let's begin. If I've really been born into Asgard…"

"…then I'm going to make sure I survive it."
