Near St. Samuel Cathedral in North Backlund.
After disguising themselves, Xio and Fors used Fors's Door ability to arrive in a small private room at a restaurant near the cathedral.
Xio placed the silver mirror, which was suspected of being possessed by a ghost, on the table. The words on the mirror were still the same as before, as if the ghost attached to the silver mirror was too weak to even change the words on its surface.
Fors placed a bouquet of white flowers she was holding onto the surface of the silver mirror, and at the same time, her voice solemn, she said:
"Madam, though I do not know your name, I hope you find eternal peace in the Tenebrous Heaven."
As Fors placed the white flowers on the silver mirror's surface, the Loen words on the mirror suddenly twisted and changed. A moment later, new words appeared:
"Thank you, kind person. These are my favorite jasmine flowers. This is the first bouquet of flowers I've ever received, even though I can no longer smell them..."
"My biggest dream was once to save up one gold pound to buy a bouquet of my favorite jasmine flowers, eat a delicious Dixie pie, and visit a circus I had never set foot in..."
"Thank you so much! You must be a kind child. I heard your blessing, kind lady, and I will pray for you in the Tenebrous Heaven!"
Watching the words continuously appear on the silver mirror, Fors stood dazed for a long while, hesitating. She then took out her wallet, pulled out a one-pound banknote, and placed it on top of the bouquet of flowers.
Xio, standing beside her, stared blankly at Fors. Although she was also moved by the text on the silver mirror, placing a banknote directly on it was just too...
Xio's pupils suddenly widened. She saw the white jasmine flowers and the brand new one-pound banknote on the silver mirror's surface vanish simultaneously.
Along with them, a line of words gradually faded from the mirror:
"I will watch over you in the Tenebrous Heaven and pray for you. May you live every day of your life in peace and happiness."
"How did it take the things from right in front of us?"
Fors was stunned for two seconds, then turned her head to Xio, somewhat incredulously, and asked.
Xio stared intently at the mirror on the table for a long time before hesitantly speaking:
"I don't know, but its Beyonder power seems to be exhausted. It's become an ordinary mirror."
"Let's donate it to the church. Even if there's any problem, the Beyonders of the church will surely be able to discover and solve it."
"Okay."
Fors nodded without hesitation. Just as she was about to reach out and pick up the silver mirror, her spiritual perception was suddenly triggered.
She turned her head to look above the mirror. A dazed, somewhat transparent Knowledge Rabbit emerged from the Spirit World, holding a book with a grayish-brown cover.
"Knowledge Rabbit?" Fors asked in confusion. Just as she was about to greet it, she saw it flee back into the Spirit World, clutching the book.
"What was it doing here? Why did it run?"
Fors was stunned for two seconds, then turned her head to Xio, seeing the same puzzled expression on her face.
At the intersection of Paz River Valley and Harvest Plain, specks of starlight enveloped a Crow Anu with shiny black feathers, appearing as if by teleportation.
The specks of starlight surged and converged into a cluster, forming Leyton's figure within them.
Walking up along the Paz River Valley, the sky had unknowingly grown dim. Leyton walked casually on the sparsely trodden grass.
"Boss, the mushrooms here glow~! They look delicious!"
Crow Anu circled in the air before landing on Leyton's shoulder and saying.
Leyton's gaze swept over the mushrooms Crow Anu mentioned. They were scattered around the bushes and in sparse clumps of grass. Their caps had many circular patterns, emitting a faint blue glow in the dim light.
"Although you're an omnivore, mushrooms shouldn't be on your diet."
Leyton casually remarked.
As he spoke, he had already stepped towards the mushroom closest to him. He half-squatted, reached out, and grabbed the mushroom's stem. The sensation in his palm made him pause; it was clearly a mushroom, yet it felt like touching meat when he touched it.
He used a little force, gripping the mushroom tightly, and pulled hard... With a tearing sound, damp soil splattered, and the mushroom was directly torn off by him.
He looked at the mushroom in his hand; there was still some soil clinging to the underside of the stem, carrying a hint of a rotten smell.
Leyton took a deep breath, straightened his back, and looked at the mushroom in his hand. His spiritual perception was subtly stirred, as if it was related to the matter he wanted to investigate.
He directly handed the mushroom in his hand to the Crow Anu and said:
"Do you smell anything rotten?"
"No, I don't see anything special about it."
Crow Anu shook its head, responding with a puzzled tone.
Leyton felt the texture of the mushroom in his hand. A faint purple glow flickered in his downcast eyes. Under the gaze of the Peeping Eye, he continuously analyzed the mushroom in his hand.
The mushroom, which should have been a fungus, exhibited characteristics found only in animal cells... It also seemed to be mixed with some plant characteristics... Good thing my biology foundation is solid, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed any problems.
Leyton sighed inwardly, then created specks of brilliant starlight, swirling around the mushroom in his hand, instantly condensing into a translucent amber to seal it.
After doing all this, he turned his head to the Crow Anu on his shoulder and said:
"Fly around this area in the air and see how many of these glowing mushrooms there are. Figure out their growth range."
"After you've investigated, go straight back to the inn. I'm going to the Church of the Earth Mother in Harvest Plain."
"Okay, boss."
Crow Anu responded and quickly flapped its wings, flying up.
Watching Crow Anu's figure circling in the air, Leyton immediately stepped forward. His body instantly became ethereal, transforming into specks of brilliant starlight, surging and darting into the Spirit World.
Hatis City, the easternmost part of Harvest Plain.
This is the headquarters of the Church of the Earth Mother in the South Continent. They have also established a Church of Nature here, overseen by Archbishop Martina of the Church of the Earth Mother, who is responsible for the church's affairs in the South Continent.
In the alley outside the Church of Nature, Leyton's figure quickly materialized.
He held a translucent amber in his hand, containing a mushroom glowing with faint blue luminescence.
It was already evening, and not many people were coming to the church to pray. Leyton did not hide his figure. After walking out of the alley, he headed straight for the Church of Nature.
In the church hall, there was only a priest in a grey-white robe and three or two scattered believers.
As soon as he stepped into the church, Leyton felt a gaze fall upon him. A faint purple glow flashed in his eyes, and he looked back at the gaze directed at him.
His gaze penetrated the thick walls, and he saw a figure approaching from the back of the church:
She was a mature woman, plump, with bronze skin and light brown hair tied into small braids, neatly draped over her back. She wore a priest's robe embroidered with patterns of flowers and wheat.
Beside her, Bugs Bunny, wearing a hooded cloak, followed. Its staff, which it had been holding, was replaced by a carrot the length of a baby's arm.
Leyton only glanced, then withdrew his gaze. A glance was curiosity; staring at the other person would be impolite.
He casually found a seat in the hall and sat down, closing his eyes slightly as if dozing.
A moment later, Leyton felt someone approaching him. The other person carried a faint scent of grass and earth, as if they had just returned from the fields.
Leyton slowly opened his eyes and chuckled as he bowed to the other person:
"Good evening, you must be Bishop Martina, right?"
As he spoke, he glanced at Bugs Bunny, who had already hopped onto his lap, and reached out to rub its soft ears.
