Chapter 34 - New Skills and an unexpected Reward

"Finally," Caelen muttered as he sat on the edge of the bed. His back curved, the mattress dipping slightly under his weight. The last few minutes had drained him, but something kept his mind alert. He pulled up the system window, swiping through until he reached the status section.

Intelligence: 16

Strength: 24

Agility: 23

Endurance: 17

Resistance: 21

Remaining Points: 19

He stared at the numbers for a while, scratching lightly at his jaw. "How should I contribute these points..." The thought looped for a bit, until finally, he gave up the strategy and just split the points evenly—seven into Intelligence and the remaining five into Endurance.

Intelligence: 20*

Strength: 24

Agility: 23

Endurance: 20*

Resistance: 21

Remaining Points: 12

The moment the new stats locked in, a small red dot appeared on both Intelligence and Endurance. A system notification blinked softly in the corner of his vision.

He pressed the one next to Intelligence. A new section opened with quiet weight.

Stat Thresholds and Passive Skill Unlocks

1. Intelligence (Magic recovery, and magical control)

100 → Tier 1 Demon Energy Mastery + Tier 1 Demon Magic regeneration(Fully unlocked)

200 → Tier 2 Demon Energy Mastery + Dark Magic + Tier 2 DM regen

300 → Tier 3 Demon Energy Mastery + Tier 3 DM regen + Knowledge Access +)

"What the hell...?" he muttered under his breath. "Where did this come from?"

His eyes lingered on the words Demon Magic Regeneration and Energy Mastery. The implications settled in slowly.

"If I push this higher, maybe I won't burn out so fast in demon form. Useful..." His voice faded as he closed the tab and moved to Endurance. Another soft red dot blinked.

4. Endurance (Stamina, pain tolerance, physical recovery)

100 → Damage Resistance tier 1 + Minor Healing Factor + demon form 1hour

200 → Damage Resistance tier 2 + Regeneration tier 1 + Demon Form 2hours

300 → Pain Nullification + Regeneration tier 2 + Demon Form 3hours

Caelen blinked at the screen. "My form's tied to Endurance, never mind the burnout stuff, I can just get it here."

He leaned back slightly, running both hands through his hair. "An hour... Not bad." For once, it felt like things were clicking into place.

He pressed the Strength and Agility stats, half-expecting more surprises, but nothing popped up. As he exhaled, a message slid across the screen.

New Skill Tier Unlocked[Demon Link – Passive]: Access Servants' info, stats, and unlock abilities based on loyalty. (Leveled Up)

He opened it. Two names appeared: Emma Serravalle and Lucille Desmire.

He clicked Emma first. Her profile unfolded like a classified document, and on the side, you can see her entire figure from legs straight to her head, naked, rotating sideways like a character.

[Personal Info]Name: Emma Serravalle(???)

"Damn..." he muttered.

Her red-dot notifications were there too, just like his. He clicked Intelligence. It was identical to his threshold list, but one difference stood out. At each tier, there was a Loyalty Requirement.

1. Intelligence (Magic recovery, and magical control)

100 → Tier 1 Demon Energy Mastery + Tier 1 Demon Magic regeneration(Loyalty 30:[Unlock]

200 → Tier 2 Demon Energy Mastery + Dark Magic + Tier 2 DM regen(loyalty 50:[Locked]

300 → Tier 3 Demon Energy Mastery + Tier 3 DM regen + Knowledge Access+)100:[locked

"Hers are locked by loyalty..." Caelen raised a brow. "So I can control what skill they can unlock."

He unlocked the 100-tier bonuses for both Intelligence and Endurance since her loyalty was maxed. The locks clicked softly and vanished from the interface.

Next, he switched to Lucille Desmire. Her stat boosts were only x3. He didn't need the system to tell him—it was obvious she was still struggling to trust him, and if she did, she would be even stronger. Her loyalty sat at 44%, lucky he can unlock them even when they are 100% but he would not need to lock since she would be trustworthy anyway.

He gave her the first unlocks available at 30%—basic regeneration and energy control. Nothing more was available.

Caelen exhaled through his nose and shut the screen.

The silence returned.

His hand moved to the nightstand where Evelyn's book still lay. He hesitated.

Then grabbed it.

Inside were strange, lewd illustrations—succubi and suggestive instructions. He flipped through it with a neutral expression at first. By the third page, he frowned. By the fifth, he blinked. By the seventh, he cleared his throat and adjusted how he sat.

Emma had gotten a copy too. Evelyn had given them out casually. Caelen had protested, of course—but Evelyn just smiled and said, "You can't protect her from herself. Let her learn."

He'd said fine. As long as no other man touched her.

Ten minutes later, Caelen set the book down carefully, face down.

"...Right."

He stood and stretched.

"I've thought about it long enough."

He pulled up his stats one more time and threw the remaining 12 points into Endurance. The number jumped to 32. He smiled, pleased with the sensation that came with it.

"Stamina's good. Can't complain."

There wasn't much to do. Emma was somewhere, maybe reading. Lucy was asleep. The place was quiet, heavy with late morning calm.

He stood in the doorway for a moment.

"Sex? Nah," he mumbled. "Not now."

He rolled his shoulders once.

"What about the maid...?" he said, quietly amused.

And with that, Caelen stepped out of the room,

Caelen stepped out into the hallway and nearly bumped into the maid standing just outside his door. She jolted upright, hands neatly clasped in front of her black maid uniform, eyes wide with surprise.

"…Are you just gonna stand there all night?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I was assigned to remain nearby, sir," she said, her tone respectful. "You don't yet know where everything is. It's my duty to assist you."

Caelen gave her a lazy smirk, letting his eyes drop slightly—enough to make her shift her weight uncomfortably. "So your job is to help me, huh? Did your boss tell you I have a bad habit of devouring pretty women?"

The maid turned pink instantly, lips parting slightly as she stammered, "N-No… the mistress didn't mention that."

He leaned forward slightly, voice soft but teasing. "Then what do you think? Did she leave you here as a free meal I can eat whenever I feel like it?"

She looked down, cheeks flushed bright. "T-The mistress would never do something like that," she said quickly, eyes refusing to meet his.

Caelen chuckled and stepped back, the tension dissolving. "Relax, I'm kidding. Where is your mistress, anyway?"

"She's in the library," the maid said, still a little embarrassed by her own reaction.

"Can you take me there?"

She nodded and led the way, her footsteps soft against the polished stone floor.

As they walked in silence, Caelen tilted his head a little, watching her from the side. "What's Evelyn like anyway? I really don't get her sometimes."

The maid paused for a moment to think. "Sometimes she isn't very serious. She likes to play around, tease people. She also buys a lot of… things. But when she sets her mind on something, she doesn't let go. That's the version of her I see most often, anyway."

He nodded, thoughtful. "Got it. Thanks."

"It's not a problem," she said, glancing at him with a shy smile.

They reached the library doors, tall and dark wood carved with thorny vines. She gestured toward them and remained standing at the entrance as Caelen stepped in. The room smelled of old paper and dust, shelves towering over him and stuffed to bursting. Evelyn wasn't far in—just seated on a velvet bench with a thick leather-bound tome in her lap, head buried deep in its pages.

He approached slowly and sat down beside her.

"Excuse me," he said, voice quiet but direct.

She blinked, eyes flicking up from the book as if waking from a trance. "Caelen. Is something wrong?"

"Not really. Just… your maid. I like her. Kinda wondering if maybe the next seed should go to her."

Evelyn's expression sharpened instantly. "Don't. These women are mine. I'd prefer if you didn't touch any of them."

He raised both hands in surrender, chuckling. "Relax, lady. I'm joking."

She narrowed her eyes slightly, then went back to her book.

Caelen peered over. "What are you reading?"

"It's called None of Your Business," she said without missing a beat. "But it's a good read. Want me to summarize?"

He laughed. "No thanks."

There was a pause. A quiet in the room.

"Sorry," he said finally, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm just bored. Thought I'd make conversation. You were acting kind of weird earlier, before we split up."

Evelyn didn't reply immediately. She turned another page.

He pressed a little more gently this time. "You went about the elves' island place, right? I know you were interested in the seed. Just… wondering what it's all about. I know I'm prying, but sometimes the person you least expect ends up being the one who can actually help."

She didn't look at him. Her voice was calm and quiet when she spoke.

"One of the elves there killed my father and mother."

Caelen blinked. "Wait… what?"

She finally closed the book and met his eyes. "I want power. I want strength. I want demon blood in my veins because it's the only way I'll ever get strong enough to face that elf."

He leaned back, processing that. "Okay, but… that's risky. If you go there openly with those intentions, it could backfire. You could drag all of us down with you. They'll think we're part of it."

Evelyn looked away. "I know."

"Then wait. Plan it out. Go later."

"I can't," she said, voice low. "Even if I get there, I couldn't kill them. Not like this."

Then she looked back at him and smiled.

"But you could."

Caelen stared at her. "…What?"

"You have a system. You've got two strong servants. And me, eventually. You'll grow even more. Strong enough to kill the one who did this to me."

He hesitated. "That's assuming I want to get involved in elf politics."

"If I eat the seed," Evelyn said, cutting him off, "I won't gain the strength I thought I would. My guess was wrong. It won't be enough. And I don't have years to wait for that kind of strength. When I read the books, I thought demons were born with that strength, but I'll be dead by then, Caelen."

He didn't speak as he does not know how to feel about this.

She leaned in slightly, voice steady and serious now.

"If you do it—if you manage to kill the elf who killed my parents—I'll be yours. Along with everything I own."

Her eyes held his, unwavering.

"If I manage to survive the curse with the seed, then I'm yours, so can you do this for me?"

Caelen stared at her, silent, as her words settled like falling ash.
