The angel, Velantra, froze at the sound of Caelen's voice. Her eyes, cold and empty a moment before, now flickered with a complex mix of shock, recognition, and deep-seated hatred.
Her gaze snapped from Evelyn to the two new arrivals. Seeing Elunara, her grip tightened on the divine sword.
"Stay back, Elunara," Velantra warned, her voice losing some of its glacial certainty.
"This does not concern you Elf. Do not make me fight you. The only reason your kind still thrives in this world is because we showed mercy! We saved the elves from the demon scourge she now cavorts with!" She pointed her blade accusingly at Evelyn.
Elunara took a step forward, water beginning to form around her in shimmering, deadly ribbons. "That was a different age. That demon is my granddaughter. I will not let you harm her. I already failed my son... I will not fail his child."
