Chapter 321 - 321. Hatred

The next day, Rudolph and his two companions set out to look for the bones that Cooper had not collected last night.

They tried their best to avoid the places where the two armies had fought last night. There were collapsed houses everywhere, and brick and stone fragments were piled in the corners. The blood that flowed from the cracks in the bricks had evaporated overnight and had dried up and turned black.

There were also disabled people groaning in the ruins, and the soldiers of the Restoration Army were checking them one by one. If it was one of their own, they would rescue it. If not, they would stop the groaning. The last scream before a person's death always made people want to hide away.

After walking for a long time, they finally arrived at the place where the battle took place last night. The three of them lowered their heads and searched on the ground.

This was not easy. After they left, another battle took place here. The ground was blown up by shells, and the smelly soil underneath was turned up.

After searching for half an hour, Rudolph felt that bending over was too tiring, so he sat on a stone nearby to rest. After resting for more than ten minutes, he saw that Cooper was also tired, so he asked Cooper: "Have you found your facial skull and brain skull?"

"They are not mine, but those of the alchemist's corpse."

"Aren't they yours too? You are a zombie, so wouldn't it be possible to use one or two pieces from other corpses?"

"Of course, roadside accessories are not as good as the original ones."

Rudolph shook his head. It was too difficult to find such a finger-sized bone. This place had changed a lot. There were many corpses on the roadside that were chopped by axes, pierced by lances, and shot by bullets.

"Maybe the broken bones of a corpse will mix in, and you will still install a piece of accessory by then."

Cooper felt that the fishy smell that rushed into his nostrils was very pungent, so he didn't say much.

When Rudolph looked into the distance, he suddenly saw a pair of eyes in the ruins of a house next to him.

It was a house without a roof, only four walls. The second floor slab disappeared, making the house as bright as the street outside.

The gable of the house, that is, the side wall, was no longer vertical, but tilted outward at a small angle, which caused a crack between the gable and the front wall, and the eyes were hidden in the crack.

The house was only more than 20 meters away from Rudolph, and Rudolph and the eyes looked at each other through the crack in the wall.

The height of the eyes was a little low, which made Rudolph hesitate and did not take action immediately.

A black shadow flew into the air and threw it at Rudolph.

It was a grenade, but the grenade only flew three or five meters before falling to the ground and rolling on the ground.

The grenade exploded between Rudolph and the eyes, and was even much closer to the eyes.

Smoke and dust filled the air, and shrapnel shot out, obscuring the vision of both parties.

After the explosion, the eyes in the crack in the wall looked out again. After waiting for a long time, the smoke and dust finally disappeared, but there was no one on the street outside.

The man lying on the crack in the wall suddenly had a bad premonition, and he turned his head with a numb scalp.

A tall young man stood in front of him.

"Kid, you don't like playing with the things in your hand..."

Rudolf was stunned when he saw the face he turned to. Last night, he seemed to have made the child's grenade disappear.

The reason why he was a little uncertain was that the expressions of the two children were so different that Rudolf could not be sure whether they were the same person.

The child last night had a sparkling look in his eyes and was full of curiosity about Rudolf's magic. At first, he kept wondering where Rudolf hid the grenade. Later, after knowing that he was being teased, he pestered Rudolf for the grenade and wanted to exchange his two grenades for a piece of candy.

The child nowadays was so young, not even ten years old, but his eyes were drooping, biting his cheeks with all his strength, and his face was gloomy. More importantly, his eyes were no longer bright, only hatred.

He held his last grenade tightly, and the safety of the grenade was already opened. He pulled the pull ring without hesitation.

This was his last weapon and his last chance. He valued the grenade so much that he didn't throw it at Rudolph, but rushed towards him holding it.

There were ruins of buildings under his feet. He didn't notice that there was a broken window in front of him. The wooden lattice of the window caught his foot. He  fell down after all, but when he fell, he put his hands forward and sent the grenade to Rudolph's feet, completely ignoring the fact that his face was rubbing against the rubble on the ground.     "Let me show you another magic trick!" Rudolf waved his hand, and the grenade in the child's hand disappeared.

Under the effect of the wind magic of the wind magic, the grenade rolled farther away. There were explosions behind him, and the sound of rocks flying. Rudolf isolated it with his back, and just looked down at the child.

The child's face was covered with blood after being rubbed on the rubble. He looked up at Rudolf and finally recognized who he was.

"Magician! You are a magician from the circus!"

  "Guessed it right!"

Rudolf helped the child up: "Didn't the clowns and animal trainers of the circus place you somewhere else last night?"

Hearing the magician's question, the child lowered his head, as if he remembered some bad memories, and then looked up and said: "Later, a group of defeated soldiers of the Constitutional Army happened to enter the place where we were hiding, and they asked us to continue fighting."

Rudolf was a little sad, he asked: "Where is the captain?"

  "Dead."

  "Where are your parents?"

  "Dead."

Rudolf didn't know what to say.

  "What's your name?"

  "Kyan."

He wanted to give the child a piece of bread. Perhaps a piece of bread was more important to the child at this time, but the three of them did not bring any food when they went out.

The sound of horse hooves came from a distance, and Rudolf hurriedly said: "Kyan, run! Go and hide! Come out in a few days!"

The restoration army had just captured a city and suffered huge losses. They had just experienced a bloody battle and were now in a frenzy after being soaked in blood. They could not maintain military discipline at all. If the restoration army saw this child with a weapon, they would definitely not let him go. It was just a casual shot.

"You must hide well! Never come out again!"

A small group of cavalry from the restoration army stopped outside the house. Rudolf walked out and took out the tutor certificate of the Count of Pallu's castle, which had the Count's coat of arms on it.

"It's okay here, go somewhere else."

The cavalry saw the Count's coat of arms and hurriedly left here.

The sporadic gunshots and shouts of killing around made Rudolf sigh.

Hatred, the alchemist had already planted hatred here. Instead of training skilled soldiers to go to the battlefield, they issued guns to every civilian, using the so-called freedom to bear arms to cultivate hatred.

After this little chaos was over, Cooper looked for his skull and facial skull again. Rudolf and Yvonne didn't know what shape of bones these two terms represented, so they could only follow them to look for them. Fortunately, Cooper was lucky enough to really find two bones.

When Rudolf returned to the cabin by the sea, he found that Viscount Paulus was already waiting outside the cabin.

"Mr. Rudolf, these are the relics we collected last night. We can't handle these relics. Thank you for your hard work."

"It's not hard, it's not hard. Keeping promises is the basic principle."

Rudolf thought of a lot of sad things to prevent himself from laughing.

Viscount Paulus just thought that Rudolf had a headache after seeing the box of relics. This was not a small project and it was very tiring.
