"This is our daughter, Janalane. She turned eighteen this year. We are currently searching for a good match for her," the marquis said.
"I'm Janalane. It's an honor to meet you, Your Highness," she said with a graceful smile, lightly holding up the skirt of her dress in a formal curtsy.
Janalane was a beautiful young woman with soft chestnut hair, clearly taking after the marquess' wife. Her cheeks were slightly pink as she looked up at Jihl, who couldn't help wondering if she had already had a little too much to drink—though he knew that was a rude thought.
As the marquis excused himself to greet other guests, Jihl used the opportunity to move away from the entrance. Bao Bei stayed close beside him while still holding tightly to his coat. With so many people around, Bao Bei was clearly feeling nervous.
Deciding they should just get some sweets and leave quickly, Jihl headed toward the tables where food was laid out.
"Your Highness Prince Jihlian!"
