"They are coming…"
Kira's voice still sounded through the fortress walls, the sound of the warning horn was very sharp in my ears. My grip on Lyric increased as the shadows of riders were seen closer on the horizon.
My son whimpered softly as if he could already feel the chill of Cairos in his blood. Behind me, Caelum's voice was steady, but there was something breaking in it.
"Sera, we don't have time to hesitate."
I turned toward him, he stood with his sword, his face was very serious, the faint light of the moon outlining his jaw.
He looked like the man I had first seen on the battlefield not yielding and not shaking. But in his eyes, I saw the truth which was fear, not for himself, but for all of us.
"What are you saying?" I whispered, my voice was sharp with fear.
