Chapter 86 - Chapter 86: Good News and Joining the Tennis Club

Future Manga Publishing House

Tamura Nanako stared at the stack of letters in front of her, utterly confused.

What's going on?

She had only stepped out to collect a manuscript. How did her desk get completely buried in letters while she was gone?

Picking up one envelope at random, she glanced at the sender details—her eyes widened in shock.

Then, she started checking them one by one.

By the time she finished going through them, her face was frozen in pure disbelief.

95% of these letters are from Su Yu's readers!

Only the remaining 5% were for other mangaka.

Normally, editors would collect fan letters when they went to deliver manuscripts to mangaka, usually once a week.

Tamura Nanako had carried at most a few dozen letters before.

No new mangaka had ever received this many letters!

What the hell happened?!

"Nanako, perfect timing."

A voice called out.

"Chief Editor Sato?"

Tamura Nanako turned toward her.

"Come with me. I've got good news."

Sato Yumiko's face held an unmistakable smile.

Filled with curiosity and anticipation, Tamura Nanako followed her into the office.

As soon as she sat down, Sato Yumiko tapped a few times on her phone and handed it over.

Nanako glanced at the screen—and her eyes nearly popped out of her head.

"…What is this?!"

"I never expected Su Yu-sensei's manga to be recognized by so many esteemed mangaka. They're reacting to Yuru Camp like thirsty travelers stumbling upon an oasis."

Sato Yumiko chuckled.

Indeed—

The reason Su Yu had received so many fan letters was because his manga had been praised by numerous established mangaka.

Several well-known authors had posted glowing reviews of Yuru Camp from their verified accounts.

And not just one or two—over thirty mangaka had given it high praise!

This had started yesterday.

Today, even more industry professionals were discussing Yuru Camp online, all of them leaving overwhelmingly positive comments.

Even famous illustrators with massive followings had joined the discussion.

After all, Su Yu's artwork was top-tier, making it worth studying for many aspiring and professional artists.

Tamura Nanako read through the comments, recognizing many names.

Among them was a well-known illustrator—Miyazumi Uta, who had hundreds of thousands of followers.

"Wait… Could this be the work of the Yukinoshita family…?"

Tamura Nanako suddenly considered the possibility.

If the Yukinoshita family was behind this, then it would make perfect sense why so many mangaka had given such high praise.

And as for the illustrators…

It had to be Miyazumi Uta.

"Nanako, are you thinking that all these positive reviews happened because of Yukinoshita-san?"

Sato Yumiko smirked, immediately seeing through Nanako's thoughts.

"Uh—"

Tamura Nanako hesitated.

"Actually, this isn't something Yukinoshita-san would do. Yuru Camp is simply that good. It doesn't need her help."

Sato Yumiko explained.

"Then why?"

Nanako was still confused.

"I personally recommended Yuru Camp to some mangaka I know, asking for their feedback. Their responses were overwhelmingly positive. Some of them even want to meet Su Yu-sensei in person."

Sato Yumiko grinned.

"I also just got off the phone with the company president—he's incredibly impressed with Yuru Camp's quality and storyline. He wants Su Yu-sensei to quickly finish the five chapters required for a tankōbon release."

"T-Tankōbon?!"

Tamura Nanako was stunned.

But only one chapter has been released!

Usually, a manga needed at least ten chapters before the president would decide whether to release a tankōbon.

This is way too fast!

"Yuru Camp's quality speaks for itself. As long as Su Yu-sensei keeps up this level of storytelling, the tankōbon release is guaranteed."

Sato Yumiko's voice was full of confidence.

"For now, don't tell Su Yu-sensei about this. Let's wait until the tankōbon is officially confirmed before giving him the good news."

"…I understand."

Tamura Nanako nodded.

Hearing this directly from Sato Yumiko meant the tankōbon was practically set in stone.

I really want to tell Su Yu-sensei right away!

No—she had to hold back. She had to wait until the deal was sealed before delivering the good news.

And maybe…

Maybe if Su Yu-sensei was in a good mood, he'd finally accept my date invitation…

A date, huh…

What should I wear?

Afternoon—Joining the Tennis Club

After tutoring, Su Yu handed his keys and commuter bag to Yui, letting her take her two best friends back to Sakurasou first.

Meanwhile, he headed to the tennis courts.

Saika Totsuka and Hachiman Hikigaya were already there.

When they saw him, Saika greeted him with a bright smile.

As for Hachiman—he silently handed Su Yu a tennis racket.

And so, Su Yu resumed his match against Saika.

Saika, with boundless energy, seemed to have improved even more.

If yesterday had just been an adjustment period, today was definitely more challenging.

Su Yu's memory enhancement ability started recording every single one of Saika's movements.

In reality, this ability didn't just apply to books—it also worked with hearing and physical movements.

It was somewhat like a Sharingan—though nowhere near as exaggerated.

If he were in Academy City, his level would probably be around LV2.

At least, that was his guess—his system hadn't provided exact data.

Saika, meanwhile, was giving it his all.

He quickly realized—Su Yu was actually stronger than Hachiman.

The only difference was stamina.

Hachiman always commuted by bicycle.

Saika, on the other hand, had been running and training for a long time.

If Su Yu had the same endurance as them, he would definitely win.

Realizing this, Saika became even more serious.

And so…

Thirty minutes later—

Su Yu lost due to exhaustion.

"Thanks, Totsuka."

Even though he was tired, Su Yu had to admit—this kind of match felt great.

"Su Yu-kun, you're amazing! Want to officially join the tennis club?"

Saika took the chance to extend an invitation.

"Sure. But I can only play for an hour in the afternoons. I'll only come during lunch breaks occasionally."

Su Yu considered for a moment.

"That's fine! You're really strong, Su Yu-kun. Playing against you helps me improve a lot!"

Saika smiled.

"Hachiman is great too."

Su Yu glanced at Hachiman, who had just walked over.

"Yeah, Hachiman is really good."

Saika nodded.

Su Yu turned to look at Hachiman—his gaze was meaningful.

Hachiman shifted uncomfortably under Su Yu's stare.

Without a word, Su Yu handed the racket to him.

"…Do your best."

"…." Hachiman.

Su Yu walked toward the vending machine, bought three drinks, and left two on the bench.

"See you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow!"

Saika waved.

Hachiman, meanwhile, silently stared at the drinks on the bench.
