" Sylvester?" Michael was shocked was when he saw the man's face. This man had once stood closest to his throne—General Sylvester, the kingdom's warhound.
He was a powerful general of the Adept rank with six awokened veins. There were only a few people in the kingdom who could match his prowess. He was also a cousin to the wise and mighty Royal Consort, who was only second to the King and Queen of the human empire.
" Yes your highness, it is I, Sylvester, your loyal "war dog"." Sylvester said with a sneer, as he did a light bow of his head while smiling evilly.
" Well I guess you're not so loyal anymore, unless you and these others are here to escort us back to the kingdom. Which is something I highly doubt," Micheal said, as his expression turned grim. Nivea on the other hand now pulled a long frown on her beautiful face, causing the world to seem like it had lost all colours.
" You're spot on as always m'lord, I am no longer that loyal dog. Today, I shall be the one to bury your corpse," suddenly, the group of others behind him surrounded the king and queen, their immense aura pressing down on them like a mountain on an ant.
" How dare you disrespect us that way!" Now, Michael was furious! Did they think because he hadn't fought for a few years he was now weak? He could crush them all like the bugs they were!
" Die!" Flames burst out of Sylvester's hands as he hurled them towards the two nobles!
As the fireball was suddenly lunged towards them, Nivea stepped in front of Michael, as her eyes turned cold with anger," Protection!" Suddenly a strange light began emerging form her hand, surrounding her and Micheal's body like a mini dome.
Boom!
The fireball blasted onto the dome like protection barrier, immediately nullifying the attack.
But it didn't stop there, Sylvester lunged another ball of fire at the dome, and this time, the attack was accompanied by the others' attacks.
" Lightning, strike!"
" Light force!"
" Flame dragon!"
....
The dozen or so people all lunged out a series of attacks that kept on bombarding the dome protection barrier. Slowly, spiderweb like cracks began to form on the barrier.
It was soon going to break!
" Michael, are you ready," Nivea said, there wasn't an ounce of fear in her eyes, she just stared at her husband with a cold smile.
Those people were just courting death. Her husband, a heart weaver of the Ascendant rank just needed to feel a strong emotion and harness it before being able to fight.
And she was sure that this was enough to stimulate his rage. A betrayal from his general and the attack on his wife's life was enough to get any man enraged, not to mention the king of the human race.
" You're all going to die!"
Suddenly dark clouds began to form in the sky, a chill ran down the spine of the attackers.
* It seems the rumours are true. When the king gets angry enough, even the weather would cha-*
Rumble! Rumble! Crack!
Even before he could finish his sentence, the loud sound of thunder roared through the sky, as lighting descended from the sky and struck one of the attackers, sending him flying and landing hundreds of meters away with his body completely fried coal black!
Gasp!
The remaining twelve people looked on at the body of the man who just died, the poor man must have not even known how he died, for everything was so fast it happened in a matter if seconds.
" Damn it! Even without seeing him he already killed one of us! " Someone in the group of assassin's said with a glum look. He was scared.
He had been sent by a God thinking that this mission would be easy even if they were facing Ascendants, with thirteen Adepts it should have been a fairly easy job.
But they were all not expecting that the king would he this strong that he could even evoke the power of the atmosphere to his liking....it was scary!
Crash!
The dome like barrier that was casted by Nivea was suddenly broken and shattered into pieces, not by the opponents, but by Michael himself.
An angry King with a rusted sword in his hands, his red hair flowing with the power if the wind, as his golden eyes seemed to become even brighter.
" Like I said, you're all going to die!" He then Immediately dashed forward, his body moving like the wind.
" What the?" Before anyone could react, Micheal had already arrived in front of one if them and threw a punch straight into his face, cracking the skull of the man and causing blood to unceasingly spurt out.
" How dare you attack me?!" He was furious, and just like that, he flashed off again, ready to kill someone else.
" Run! Abort the mission!" They had to escape, none of them...none of them could withstand the power of a heart weaver of the Ascendant rank.
They had to leave!
" Like I said, you're all going to die, so you're not going anywhere! So stay and enjoy your death!"
DIMENSIONAL WARP!!
•••••
" I'm going to die!" Sol stared deeply at the symbol that the bird's blood had formed. He couldn't take this light, this was the same as someone telling him he was going to be killed soon and there was nothing he could do.
" I need to tell Uncle Henry, since mother and father aren't around yet, he's the only one I can trust," Sol said, as he immediately turned to leave, ready to head over to meet his uncle, the royal Consort and retail to him the problem.
Knock! Knock!
As Sol was getting prepared to leave, there was a sudden knock at the door," come in," he said, and the door was immediately swung open.
" Your highness," Theadon suddenly walked and greeted the crown prince.
" Theadon, great timing. I need to speak to my uncle, could you arrange a meeting with him for me," Sol said, though, a slight frown crossed his face, but immediately disappeared as soon as it came.
" Your highness, the crown prince. The reason I had come here is specifically because Consort Henry had asked you to come and have a meal with him, he said he wanted to enjoy a feast with family today," Theadon said with a slightly humble smile. He was trying his best to keep a straight face talking to someone he believed would soon be a dead man.
" My uncle asked me to come have dinner with him, and a feast at that? Why doesn't he just wait till mother and father get back?" The frown on his face deepened, but just like before, it immediately faded away as soon as it came.
" I do not control the thoughts of the Consort and am just here to deliver this message. And I would be taking my leave now if there is nothing else," Theadon said, and without waiting for Sol to respond, he turned around and left.
Seeing this, Sol couldn't help but express his dissatisfaction. Something was different.
" He didn't bow when he arrived, nor waited for permission to leave, this is very unlike him, a lowly servant," Sol suddenly went into deep contemplation. Something was wrong with today. He wasn't sure if he was paranoid or not, but for sure there was something different.
Sigh!
* Why dwell on such petty things. I have to get going. Besides, even with this death threat, I am still glad for mother and father would soon return, nothing shall happen to me once they return, and even now, Uncle Henry is around, he shall protect me that's for sure,* Sol thought deeply, as he stepped out of his room, ready to head to the dining hall.
As soon as he closed his door, a portrait that was placed on the wall next to his room suddenly fell off and a hand emerged, grabbing Sol and pulling him into the darkness of the walls without being able to resist.
Then the wall suddenly closed and the portrait magically flew back onto it's place on the wall, leaving the hallway silent as if nothing had ever happened.
