Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9

CHLOE'S POV

School was unexpectedly fun, asides the part where Nolan tried talking to me. I enjoyed all the classes cos I was sitting with Keith and he always made me laugh.

School was over and we were in the parking lot, walking towards Keith's car, when he left to get something he forgot. I leaned on the car waiting for him.

"Well, well, well", Hailey and her minions walked towards me.

"What'd you want, Hailey?",I hissed. Even though, she's hurt me more than I can remember, I hate having to fight with her.

"Well, I just wanted to ask you if my milkshake was hot or cold", she said, waving the milkshake in front of me.

"Just leave. I don't think I have enough energy for your tantrums"

"C'mon", she whined before pouring the milkshake on my hair. I gasped.

Now I see why they say '20 friends don't play together for 20 years'.

"So, Chloe, is the milkshake hot or cold?", she asked mockingly, before laughing with her minions.

"Why?",I simply asked because I was on the verge of crying. She just glared at me and left with her gang.

I couldn't believe Hailey would do this to me.

"Hey, what happened?", Keith asked as he ran towards me.

"Hailey--- she, she--- poured milkshake on me", I stuttered, choking back tears.

" It's ok", he said, handing me his towel.

" Isn't this your personal towel? I mean, I heard from a few cheerleaders that you don't allow anyone to touch your towel, not even your teammates", I spoke, a bit skeptical about accepting the towel.

"Just take it, okay? I'm the one giving it to you so you should count yourself lucky", he teased with a sweet smile.

"Okay", I tried hiding the stupid blush creeping on my cheeks.

I took the towel from him and wiped my hair with it.

"Why'd you let her do this to you anyway?", Keith asked, out of the blue.

"I guess, I'm still hoping that she'll come back to her senses"

"I suggest you fight back"

"Why?"

"Letting her do this to you makes you seem weak. Prove to her that you're stronger, bigger and badder"

I sighed.

"I think you're right"

" Of course I am. I think I should be a motivational speaker one day", he said jokingly.

" Just take me home, please", I said after laughing out my lungs.

" As you wish, m'lady", he said with a cocky British accent making me roll my head back in laughter.

That's how it has been throughout the week. Keith making me laugh even without trying so hard.

He seemed to know how to crack a smile on my face even when he knows I'm sad.

SATURDAY

The week was fun, I successfully avoided Nolan, Keith made me smile all through the week but one thing was bothering me.

Jess wasn't home yet. I tried calling again and again but it went into voicemail. I also tried calling Matt but he wasn't picking up.

I was more than worried.

*Dingdong*

I hurriedly went downstairs, and swung the door open.

"Good morning", Keith said grinning from ear to ear.

"Good morning, Keith. How are you?", Keith and I have gotten closer than expected in a short period of time and I liked the fact that even after what happened with Hailey, I'm able to trust Keith.

"I'm good. You?"

"Not bad at all, except that my sister hasn't returned my calls neither has her boyfriend", I spoke, with a grimace.

"That's why I came over to keep you company", he smiled and just then did I notice that Keith has a beautiful smile, pearly whites, plump pink lips.

"Forrest?", Keith thwacked my head as he called out.

"Gosh! Why'd you do that?"

"It seemed like you were lost in thoughts", he chuckled. Keith was taller than me. And when I say taller, I mean he should be about 6"5 while I was 5"7.

"Just come in already", I scooted a bit for him to come in.

"Thanks", he sat on the couch and watched me take a sit beside him.

"I'm bored", I pouted.

"Well, you could write your college application letter, even though it's still too early", Keith said which reminded me of something.

"He hasn't still sent a letter. What's taking him so long?", I spoke absentmindedly.

"Who? And what letter?", Keith asked, and that was when I realized I said it out loud.

"Oops", I chuckled nervously.

"Don't worry, you can tell me", he said, his eyes pleading.

"Ok, you remember when I told you I still had a secret to share?"

"Yeah?"

"Well, the secret is this: there's this guy, I like to call him Mysterio, he usually writes letters to me. Sometimes telling me about his day or confessing to me about his feelings for me", I paused, and looked at Keith, only to see him tensed.

"Well, I still don't know who he is and anytime I write back, he refuses to disclose his identity to me", I sighed before continuing.

"I don't care though, cos he's like the friend anyone could ever wish for..... just like you", I smiled at him and his expression softened.

I didn't miss the little blush on his nose and earlobes. I chuckled at this and it only seemed to increase.

"I didn't know Keith, the famous and most attractive basketball player in Lakewood high, could blush at a little compliment. It is quite surprising, don't you think?", I teased, and I saw that Keith was now as red as a tomato.

"I didn't know you find me attractive", he spoke after a while.

"Excuse me, have seen yourself in the mirror. You are every girls dream guy. Cute, muscular, tall, handsome, funny, rich......I could go on if you want. Almost every girl in school wants to date you but it seems your girlfriend is your top priority", I spoke while he just watched me intently.

"Wow! So you find me highly attractive?"

"Yeah, but I think I shouldn't have said to much", it was my turn to blush now.

What is happening?!

"I'm not complaining", he teased.

"I'm hungry and I want you to make something for me", I instantly changed the topic, ignoring the butterflies that just started dancing in my stomach.

"So what do you want?", he asked simply enjoying what was happening.

"Well, I was craving muffins", I lied. I wasn't even hungry at all. I just wanted to watch him cook.

"Ok"

============================

It's been approximately an hour and seven minutes since Keith started baking.

Even though I know nothing about baking, I could tell he was taking this long because he just wanted to annoy me.

Right now, we are waiting for the muffins to bake while cleaning up the countertop.

"Hey Forrest?", Keith called out and I raised my head to look at him.

"Yeah?", I responded but instead of an answer, I was hit in the face with a handful of flour.

"What the heck?", I screamed.
