They travel back to South Africa for the wedding. It was a roller coaster of emotions from happy to sad. This time they left India for good.
A country that had given them so much including love. They relocated to South Africa where they had a quick, quiet but significant wedding.
It was just what they needed since they were hopelessly in love with each other. Julia's father was very happy to finally meet James in person.
James' family were also happy to see Julia so it was a unity of two families via marriage. It was a lovely ceremony graced by many friends and relatives.
Zara was kind enough to attend the occasion all the way from India. Although Zara came without her daughter, this meant a lot to the couple.
After the marriage, the honeymoon phase fades away very quickly. James got a place in a different location and they moved in together as expected newly weds.
It was not too big or too small, it was just the right size for them. He sets up the house to her standard and they lived together.
She gets a job as a school teacher. She loved her job because she had always loved educating people.
The certification she got in education from India came in really handy for her and played a very vital role in helping her secure this job.
James was genuinely happy for her. He just wanted to to make her happy at all cost.
He provided for her and made sure she lacked nothing.
He did his best and she was overjoyed about their new life.
Since he was a medical doctor, he found a job easily while he worked on his bigger goal of opening his own hospital eventually.
The problem in their marriage was that he thought that doing everything for her would be more than enough for her.
He failed to realize that she's always wanted more out of life. Her happiness never depended on material things.
For her, happiness was true freedom, unfortunately, we can't always get exactly what we want.
Sometimes we do, but not in ways we hoped. James becomes increasingly cold and distant as time went on.
"We should go out to the movies this evening, he said," as he adjusted his red tie, preparing to go to work.
He wore a gray suite and a blue shirt. He looked really handsome. His wrist watch was clean and new.
Julia brought the food she had made for him to take to the office, neatly packaged in a beautiful black launch box.
She made white rice, with a very delicious and colourful tomato sauce. She was a great cook and that was one of the things that he noticed about her and took very personal.
She was a great home maker, nobody is perfect but she was a good woman and above all, a good wife.
He collects the food and thanks her, then proceeds to start the car for a little while so the engine can steam a little bit.
She quickly finishes her make up, then she steps out to join him outside.
He wasted no time to comment on her looks, "I've told you severally, you are already beautiful, you need little or no makeup."
He already stated that he preferred her without makeup.
Julia was a beautiful woman with or without makeup but without it, she looked more natural and that was why he preferred her without it.
He dropped her off at the school where she teaches and continued to the hospital where he worked.
When he opens his food during lunch time, the aroma fills the air. Other men becomes jealous of him because of how of his wife takes care of his feeding.
They tell him he is lucky to have a wife that is so intentional about him and his well-being.
Some cited that they have wives but they're to busy to prepare meals for them to bring to the office. As a result, they have to eat at the restaurant or wait till they got home.
This should have made any man appreciate his wife, but he was focused on how his wife is lucky to have him in her life.
Most times when he gets home, she would be extremely tired for the day because of the long day she's had at work. As a result, she might not make dinner on time or at all.
Things like these made him very upset.
He wanted a wife whose attention he completely had. Instead, her job had her full attention, while he got what was left.
The truth is that both of them worked so hard so it is expected that both of them will be tire when they get home.
He complained for a while about her not meeting her domestic goals as a wife.
When no major improvement was made, he resorted to demand that she resign from work to face her responsibilities as a wife.
This was a serious issue in their home as she initially declined the request to resign but as it only made matter worse, she finally accepted. She resigned and stayed at home full time.
She did improve on house matters and duties but her happiness depreciated greatly. It was a nightmare for her to be just like that without anything to do.
Things took a dramatic turn for worse after this. He stops complimenting her, becomes easily irritated, and avoids intimate conversations.
He insists Julia shouldn't find work anywhere else since she didn't need it, claiming he wants to "take care of everything."
A Slowly, he isolates her from the few friends she had and some extended family members.
She would question herself, "am loosing my mind, how can I live this way? Sometimes James would feel guilty for how miserable she is, other times he would just assumed this all is part of life.
Her world started falling right in front of her. Some evenings she would go out just for a walk, thinking it would help clear her head but sometimes it gave the opposite effect.
Nothing she did was good enough to help her out of the situation. She soon accepted her fate and live life the way she saw it. It was sad but that was her reality.
