Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

Alpha Kaelith

He watched her move hesitantly to the front, her hands stretched forward for the chair across his desk. He had no idea why he asked her to sit instead of dismissing her but something inside him just crave her presence and he couldn't help but give in this time.

Also he had wanted to test her tonight. There's something off about her that keeps bothering him. He can't feel her wolf but she also don't feel wolfless. Her scent is different from everyone else — it's faint...but it's there. It's not unheard of for a werewolf being wolf-less but it's rare — really rear. So its either she's keeping a front or...

He's going to find out anyway tonight.

She soon finds the chair and he watched as she settled on it. He couldnt help but notice how her eyes squint as if she's trying to make him out in the dark or how her red, pouty lips quiver slightly or how little botton nose twitched slightly when she's thinking hard. It was quite amusing watching her move the strand of hair that keep dropping to her face, while she's doing all this

Soon he found himself reaching out his hand towards her face but stopped mid air. What is he doing?

Ok, he's just doing it to test her sense. If she has a wolf, she'll indeed see his hand coming towards her and she'll flinch when he's close.

To test his theory, he lift his hand back up and continue his rendezvous. Soon, his hand hover In front of her — close but not touching her, yet she didn't bat an eyelid it wasn't until when he finally give in to temptation and move the wild strand of hair away from her face that she finally flinch.

This could only mean two things. She really did not have a wolf or she's really good at pretending.

He was opting for the first option, seeing how wide her eyes had become and how she has fear written all over his face. Which should satisfy him but oddly it did not.

He loves when people fear him— they know not to mess with him. But weirdly enough, the thought of her being scared of him does not really sit well with him.

He cleared his throat, awkwardly redrawing his hand back. He decided to ask the questions that has been plaguing his mind ever since he saw her. " Why can't I feel your wolf?".

She shifts a bit in the chair, her face flushed and confused. It looked like she hasn't recovered from what just happened. He honestly hasn't too, his mind is filled with the thought of how soft her hair felt under his hand and how beautiful it'll look sprawled on his bed when he takes her—

He clenched his fist, not liking at all where his mind was taking him to.

" I I I don't have one". Her voice pull him out of his thoughts and he noticed how she sounds so sad when she said those words and he could tell this is a sore topic to her.

" Why?" He tilts his head, noting every emotion that passed through her eyes

" Because the moon goddess didn't grant me one".

His heart cracked at that, at least what he considered to be his heart. His wolf whimpers inside and he felt like comforting her somehow...even though he doesn't know how. He has never comforted someone before.

But he tried to "Why wouldn't the moon goddess grant you one? Maybe you're just a slow boomer".

Her eyes lit up a bit before it dim back again and a look of apprehension filled it " I'm not sure".

" You would never know". And he meant it. Slow boomers are uncommon but not rare , some don't get their wolf till they are 21, some later and some until they find their mate. He doesn't know which category she belongs to but he knows she is not entirely wolf-less...even her scent says so.

But the Alpha in him couldn't still help but question. What if she's lying? What if she is cloaking her scent — it is possible. What if she's in it with Bastian. Everything about her is convenient: he's craves her, even his wolf turns into a pup in her presence. It's odd and unsettling to think that his beast will ever submit to anyone but it does so easily with her.

And that incident of the tea. Theres a high chance she poisoned it — she's his main suspect. His eyes hardened at that. If he ever finds out that she is truly working for Bastian — he'll make her life a living hell .
