You're going to be with me all through today?" I perched on the edge of the bed, watching as Kaelith folded clothes into the open black box on the floor.
He was packing for our five-day trip to the Mildeves and, honestly, traveling was the last thing on my mind yesterday. But somehow, overnight, the idea of escaping for a bit had grown into its own little source of excitement. If I focused on the trip and nothing else, I could actually… breathe.
"Well, I have no choice. We'll be stuck in the air for over six hours." He shrugged like six hours suspended above the world was nothing.
I gasped, slapping a dramatic hand over my chest. "Don't put it like that! Flying on air is already a lot, but stuckkkkk?"
He didn't react—typical...so I kept going with my shameless attempts to cut through the tension.
"But wouldn't it be amazing to spend a whole six hours with me?" I fluttered my lashes at him for maximum effect.
