Chapter 86 - Firsts Worth Fighting For

Archress Mageress's words startled everyone, but the tension faded almost immediately.

It was just a rogue, after all. What could a single rogue possibly do against a full party?

Ryan, however, felt a twinge of unease. He wasn't so quick to dismiss the threat.

He reached into his inventory and retrieved a Minor Cat's Eye Potion—a concoction that would heighten his detection senses for five minutes. After downing it, he activated his human racial ability, Suspicion, then urged his horse into a swift trot around the area. Between the potion and his ability, he was confident he could detect any rogue lurking within twenty yards.

The first circuit turned up nothing. No glimmer of movement, no flicker of a shadow. It was as if the rogue had simply vanished.

But Suspicion still had a few seconds left. Ryan decided to make one more loop, extending his search just a little further. That was when he spotted it—something out of place.
