Chapter 5 - Title at End of Chapter

The creature suddenly lunged, its hand reaching out for Oscar's throat. With sheer instinct Oscar managed to duck below the creature's outstretched arm, however, not before it sent a kick out towards his head.

"Ah!" Clutching the side of his face, a metallic taste began to fill Oscar's mouth. Not allowing him to get his bearings the creature attacked again, this time sending a hook towards his liver. Oscar once more missed the chance to react as the hit landed right below his rib cage, sending his liver into shock.

Oscar keeled over, hands gripping his side.

"Ack—" Oscar spit a mouthful of blood out on to the chambers floor, looking up he saw his now grotesque and mutated reflection smiling at him.

"Your body could use a little work, but you are still so young… You're going to taste delicious." The creature licked its red lips as it leaped towards Oscar. This time, however, Oscar had gotten his bearings together.

While he was no trained soldier, Oscar had his fair share of scuffles with the other kids in the village. Though, none of them were ever this vicious and precise with their hits.

Oscar barely sidestepped another punch to the gut, but he had managed to trip over his other foot quickly falling to his back on the ground. The creature didn't waste the chance, raising its leg and stomping towards Oscar's head. Oscar turned his head to the side, barely avoiding the creatures foot.

"Bang!" The creature left an imprint in the ground; Oscar began to sweat even more.

'If I get hit with that, I'ma' die for real!'

Rolling backwards over his shoulders Oscar quickly got to his feet as fast as he could.

'I can't just let him bombard me with attacks; I gotta' be offensive.'

Making up his mind, Oscar took the first step forward this time, throwing a punch towards the creature's jaw, the creature merely watched the fist connect with its jaw. Not even bothering to step out of the way.

The bang Oscar expected never came, instead Oscar felt his jaw had been hit instead. Looking back at the creature Oscar saw that in it's non-dominant hand, a gold coin had appeared, one side of the coin had a Jester laughing, the other side had a Jester smiling.

Oscar frowned, but he ignored the pain to his jaw, sending out a sloppily thrown kick towards the creature's imitation of his legs. The creature merely adjusted its shin slightly to meet Oscar's shin.

 CRACK

Oscar almost fell to the ground, his felt like… no it almost certainly had been fractured.

"Don't you know how to throw a kick?" The creature mocked Oscar once more before sending out a kick of its own towards his body, while kicking Oscar looked towards the creature's hands.

 Flick

He saw it, the creature flicked the coin, this time the crying side of the coin ended up on top. Oscar smiled as he prepared to throw a punch.

 Flick

 Smack

The coin ended up smacking Oscar right in his eye as the creature laughed at him,

"Thought we were getting smart now did we?" The creature continued to mock Oscar. Oscar frowned, looking at the creature's hand the coin had returned from his being lodged in his face to being back in its hand again.

'Damn, I know its first ability already, when it lands smiling side up it reflects my attack back at me. But I don't know what happens when the crying side ends up on top.'

'I guess he's good at throwing them too.'

Oscars mind was working as hard as it ever had before, even during his math lessons at home his brain never worked this much. Oscar sent a hook towards the creatures mouth again, the creature merely laughed and attempted to flick the coin.

However, as he was about to flick the coin Oscar's other hand reached for the coin. Frowning slightly, the creature took a step back, evading Oscar's punch and attempt to steal the coin from it.

Though, the mere fact that it had to take a step back against Oscar seemed to irritate the creature, as its smile slowly turned into a frown.

"You snot nosed brat!" The creature growled through clenched teeth, it flicked the coin from its fingers sending it straight to Oscar's eye, while also sending an uppercut towards his chin.

Oscar, slowly getting the hang of hand-to-hand combat, knew that there was no escape from both. Putting his arms in front of his face, Oscar blocked the coin from hitting his eye, however, the uppercut slipped through his guard like a snake.

 BANG

Oscar took two big steps back, his vision spinning from the attack to his chin. Quickly regaining his balance Oscar saw the creature closing in on him again, seeing this Oscar decided to do what he knew best.

Bending his knees slightly, Oscar charged at the waist of the creature quickly reaching his arms behind its back, lifting it off the ground he tackled the creature onto the ground. Oscar reached for the arms of the creature in an attempt to pin it to the ground, but was instead greeted by a coin smacking him in his teeth, followed by an elbow to his stomach.

Enraged, Oscar spit a mouthful of blood onto the creatures face, blinding it temporarily.

"You piece of shit!" The creature roared out in humiliation.

Oscar ignored the creature's cries and seized the opportunity by taking his elbows and burying them deep into the face of the creature. Its skin began to split, as a dark brown liquid began to leak from its wounds.

Oscar cringed in disgust but continued to lay elbows into the creature's face. His heart pumping adrenaline throughout his body, Oscar continued to abuse the creature, before suddenly smiling as if he had come up with an invention. Taking his hands Oscar gripped the sides of the creature's face, allowing his thumbs to rest right above the creature's eyes.

With a smile some would call twisted for his age, Oscar put all his weight and strength into pushing his thumbs down.

 POP

 POP

"AYYYYYY!" The creature screamed, its body thrashing under the weight of Oscars. After a few more moments of struggling, the creature's body finally went limp, blood stopped pooling from its eyes. Though, Oscar was already covered in it.

'I know it was a poor imitation, but did I kill myself?' Oscar asked himself.

Scanning the room Oscar's eyes lit up when he found what he was looking for, stumbling over to one side of the room a gold coin lay on the ground. Still covered in some of Oscar's blood, he picked it up and wiped it off on his shirt.

 Hiss—

The coin suddenly began to heat up, quickly becoming red from the heat. Oscar tried to drop the coin but it was seemingly stuck to the palm of his hand as it began to sear its way through his hand.

"Agh…" Oscar clenched his teeth, tears welling in the corner of his eyes.

After what felt like an eternity being burned alive, the coin had stopped burning, completely disappearing from his palm Oscar flipped his hand over, noticing a black tattoo of the same exact coin. The Smiling side facing out of his skin.

Oscar concentrated on the tattoo, and it began to fade before he felt the coin reappear in his hand. Almost letting out a psychotic laugh, Oscar could barely contain his glee.

Suddenly however, the roof began to shake and crumble. The blood red sky and white sun were quickly revealed again, before they too began to crumble. The white sun began to be replaced by black from the top to bottom, like a giant beast was closing its eye.

Oscar's world once more spun, black curtains closing his vision as he dropped to the ground, one final thought ran through his mind as he slipped into unconsciousness,

'Killing yourself ain't that bad.'
