Ruby cleared her throat and composed herself when she saw Cameron approaching our table. He exchanged greetings with the first two people at our table before reaching us.
"You came; I'm glad," Cameron said, shaking her hand warmly.
"I had to," Ruby smiled, turning red. Seeing her turn red made me laugh. After greeting Ruby, he turned to me. I was expecting him to either skip me or behave professionally, but he acted very differently.
He shook my hand, placed a kiss on it, and whispered something in my ear: "I'll send someone to you; I'd like to see you in private. Alone. Without your friend or anyone else," he whispered before moving on to the next person.
Okay. What just happened? Confused, I turned to Ruby and found her looking at me.
"What did he say?" She asked, but I couldn't respond; instead, I looked away and focused my gaze elsewhere.
What is wrong with him? Has he mistaken me for Ruby? No, that can't be the case. I'm sure he recognizes her.
